I do not plan on getting it because I know for a fact that everyone I know will get this and I am the only one that would get something different like half naked chicks in space shooting stuff (that is how I roll) I just do not mesh well with FPS that much I am more 2D.
How about you guys and girls know anyone who is getting this, hear this around school or anything.
Also are any of you getting it or at least renting it if so how is it?
Also someone just humor me for a second how is that every year the sales numbers get so crazy :o
Either way have fun if your getting it.
-
You mean the so called "most anticipated game in history"?
Nah I must be one of the only people not anticpating it, I usually only play FPS when I'm in the mood for playing something utterly brainless and simple.
-
It's the same game with different maps and reskinned guns. It's also hilarious seeing that Call of Duty Elite bullshit. Also, the collector's edition is $100? For what? A fake book of matches and some shitty journal that looks like someone took a big shit inside it? No thank you..
Call of Duty in general just sucks. Battlefield 3 looks a hell of a lot more enjoyable to play. Oh, and they want €59.99 on steam for this game.. That's fucking $82. Are they on some drugs or what?
-
I don't really care either way. The only time I'll play CoD games is when a friend gives it to me to borrow (which is funny, because I've never asked to borrow games from my friends, they're usually just like "dude you should play this etc."). And then I only go through the single player campaign. Fun games to waste time I guess, but nothing I'd want to purchase.
I really can't believe the nerve of Activision this time though, as far as their subscription-based gimmick goes. It's already enough that I have a gold subscription to Xbox Live.
-
I went to the midnight release last night , as the misses had pro-ordered it for me, but the game I really went for was My MGS:HD, I've played both games but the MGS (even though I played the hell out of all 5 titles included in the package) seems more enjoyable.
As for getting back on topic, I've only played the single player campaign and probably will only play the co-op for online, I perfer Battlefeild for multiplayer, as it has more of a team player atmosphere, and gives you better rewards for working towards common goals wether in a squad or not :) Just my 2 cents.
-
I only enjoy the Free CoD weekends, I don't buy the same game with minor improvements and diff campaign.
I just hate games that force you to aim down sights because the gun (to game logic) is useless otherwise
-
I've got Fallout 3/New Vegas, BioShock, and Doom to keep me happy. What need have I of MW3?

They announced a new CoD game for 2012.. They don't even wait a day before the release of this current one.

What the fuck man? I also want the MGS HD as well.. I can't bring myself to buy it, though. I need to save some money!

What the fuck man?
Is this even possible :o
-
how could you not expect it? they have 2 diff groups that make em. A totally separate group made World At War then the main company made MW2 then the WaW guys made Black Ops now the main team made MW3. The WaW/BO guys will make whatever comes out next year then MW4 in 2013 etc...
I dont hate the games or anything. I really like the WW2 entries but cant bring mself to care enough about the others
-
It's pretty common actually. Battlefield 3 came packed in with an advert for Medal of Honor 2 which will come out next year. That's also an EA shooter using the Frostbite engine and most of the same assets as Battlefield. It's essentially the same deal as Call of Duty, just with two different names.
Also, Ubisoft announced a new Assassin's Creed will be coming out next year, despite the current one not releasing for about a week. That's the world we live in these days, folks!
-
So, how do you guys feel after you bought MW2 with a new campaign and a Patch of improvements?
-
Were you expecting it to be an entirely different game with a radically different engine or something?
I'm having mindless fun with it.

Nope, I was at least expecting a small difference from MW2.
oh well, Activation is turning the franchise into yearly sequels hopefully killing the Cookie-cutter FPS genre
to add, CoD isn't bad, but it's worst than Harmony of Despair when it comes to recycling.
my honest opinion, Get 1 Modern CoD and 1 Past setting CoD, Stick with em because all the others are pretty much the same.

the FPS genre isn't going anywhere anytime soon, keep in mind mw3 broke the all-time sales record AGAIN, but you claim that it's gonna kill the genre? please.

$738 million, in a week. can you even grasp those numbers?

lol ok..
-
$738 million, in a week. can you even grasp those numbers?
No I sure as hell cannot that was one of the first questions I asked how is that even possible?
What makes it so popular that it can get those kinds of sales?
Also someone just humor me for a second how is that every year the sales numbers get so crazy :o

It's just an addicting game. Ask a sports fan why the Madden games are so popular, and he'll say the same thing. Someone asks you "why do you like a game called Castlevania with dated graphics," and you'll say the same thing; It goes both ways, and it'll always be like that. Lucky for Activision that they have a winning formula that appeals to males/females/kids/adults alike, everybody is entitled to their opinion but those numbers speak for themselves.
-
that is true, but once people EVER get tired of doing the same shit every year.... Which is a LOOOOONG time speaking how long it took for WoW to die down....
ah who am I kidding, Castlevania has been recycling SoTN SINCE SoTN...
Enjoy CoD4 part 5!

Madden games are just roster updates every year with a tweak here and there, some people will play anything in front of their face (plus NFL Football is popular). If not for having the NFL license and pretty much being the only thing in town, what other football game can you play? Still bland football at it's blandest.
CoD games are like Madden games, minor tweaks and new maps, but unlike Madden aren't the only FPS games in town. But again some people will play anything. Fighting games were once the rage and everyone had to have a fighting game on a system, and in time only a certain few fighters would stand up to time itself. In time the FPS genre will do the same, but for now they are like the plague. I did try a CoD game awhile back, didn't like it one bit, you couldn't sneak up on the enemy AI. And even if you were running around, if you missed the enemy, they'd kill you in one shot, even if you moved around. Also ducking to heal from gunshot wounds and refreshing within 5 seconds, long gone are the days where you had to find healthpacks to actually survive.

was I the only one sorta upset when they put in regen health in skyrim?
then again, I can just mod that out.

Ok first some postives and negatives about the game. Indeed it is a fun game.Best yet! Lots of cool shit to unlock(like perks) and make yourself better. Also this game makes it so different strategies are needed to kill enemies. Not just run and gun. This doesn't always work well unless the other players suck, you really need to take advantage of the perks. I suppose having a kd of .77 really isn't much to talk about but i've have some nice games in my theatre. Every once and a while i got on a tear. Great game, better than black ops imo. Some maps were way too big on that game.
Overall i say it's fun, but the end result for me is always the same, with the COD series is it's way too addicting for most people and i can't see myself prestige like 15 times. It does get a tad ridiculous, as if i have nothing better to do than play the same game all the time like some people i know and that's it. People seriously are way to addicted to this game.
They outta put it down and try other games like Assassin's Creed or Dante's Inferno. 2 Great games imo. Maybe activision should automatically limit peoples playing time on mulitplayer for that game. Some people are ridiculously good but all they do is play that game. WTF? Seriously. Peoplle say gambling and drugs are addicting? What aboot COD or Halo. People need to not be so damn addicting personalities.
It gets the point where people are obsessed with getting their kd sky high. They even use other account names to pratice. Friggin' ridiculous if you ask me. Just play it to play it and have fun. And yeah there comes a time where you as the player need to put the game down and go do something else. SHHHHHHHHittt! people!! I mean the game is good but it does not have the originality like Zelda,Mario, or Casltevania did when they came out. Need i mention megaman or double dragons.
It seems activision is good at enhancing former james bond games and counter strike. You guys do remember counter strike right? One of the best pc games ever hands down. That is up their in atleast the top 10 to 20 for me. THought i will say MW3 by far is the best in the series and those who play it will see why. Just do me a favor as people and fans of the game. Just dont over do it.
I know, I know, its a big request but think about it. Take a break from the game ever once and a while, go hang out with your girl or hang with a friend. See a movie. Why kill the game? You get my message 'nuff said!
-
I didn't find it addicting, and I like games that are stress relievers (use to pop in GTA 3 back years ago, get in a car and just mow folks down for fun, input a cheat to bring down the wanted level, then mow them down some more), to me addicting is some thing like a good puzzle game like Puyo Puyo or Mr. Driller, or something like Cleopatra Fortune. To me multiplayer is having someone in the same room as you competing against you, not online where you can't see their reactions if you do something to them.
I am an old fashioned gamer, my boss tried selling me MW3 weeks ago, I declined him on the offer ($20, likely a 'hot' game to want to sell it that cheap, likely got it from one of his buddies). Ever play a Rainbow Six game as a straight up FPS, it can be done despite it not being something intended by the programmers.
-
I only have one cod (2 or 3 for the wii) and I disliked it. Now I have tried the survival mode on MW3 thanks to my friend I knew he would buy it they are predictable heck I remember the day of launch it got filled up quick I saw some old friends who were going to get it they asked me if I would get it and I was like no I would rather play contra or gradius than this and they were like WTF. Hell I was the only one to order otomedius. But back to the point I do not think it is that bad but I sure have not played it that much I wouldn rather start with Modern Warfare than anything else. Okay it's like a drug but why buy something that was only developed for only like what a year? Not much can be added. It's like they found the "thing".
-
oh, just to add, MW3 could have done something AMAZING to boost the sales even more!
simply, 3DS version compatible with gryo aim or soon to come slide pad + instead of that easily forgotten DS release.
I may h8 on CoD's sequel techniques but a competetive shooter on a handheld is SOLD!
guess I'm gonna have to wait for CoD 2012 for the Vita
-
Haha, I knew Bloodreign would have an answer like that. "Someone offered me money to play mw3/[insert popular new game], I took the money & bought a 20 year old NES game instead." To each his own, different tastes with different gamers. That's the whole point!

Same here without a doubt my brothers are always saying why do you play that old crap simple because it's awesome and it's fun also no kidding I would choose my retro-duo fc twin to play contra/gradius anyday over MW. good ole 2D ;D

I think that when it comes to FPS that's all what people play and say all the others are crap unless it's some big mainstream title. This is just a weak opinion I do not have a solid enough foundation to make something really top notch but it would be swell one day if I could. But yea each to his own never follow the crowd!!!
But one more thing, what about it feeling special won't MW3 lose all meaning once the next call of duty comes out people just play it for multiplayer but what about everything else? Does it leave an ever lasting impression like how mgs1 did or the tale of two friends fighting in SuikodenII or fight for survival in the classic RE or kicking all kinds of ass in an almost comedic way like duke nukem. That seems to be a big problem to me not having that "magic"
-
Thank you! lol I'm so tired of fanboys oogling over Call of Duty when all they are essentially doing is paying $60 for a slightly prettier spiffed up version every year. i can see buying a Call of duty every 2 or 3 years but all Call of Duty is a cool basic shooter. I for one, would rather get Resistance.
-
I just wish Activision would at least quit farting in thier customers' Faces with DLC that becomes an automatic waste of money due to next game being released later that year.
-
If you don't play/like COD then why do you care about the release dates or it's DLC or who plays it
fyi I play FPS games, RPGs, fighters, action games, platformers, etc. Old school, new school & mostly everything in between. I have no problem with the COD series because I have fun with it, just like all the other series/genres I play. So what if they release a new installment every year, if you don't like it, don't buy it, move onto the next game or continue playing what you're playing. At least that's how I see it.

I never said I dislike CoD, As a game, it's a blast. But what I do Dislike is the Complete lack of effort to even make all the MW games have a distinguishing difference from each other. Halo was one good example where each game was easily identifiable just by looking at a screen-shot, or a a small bit of gameplay. I'm not saying CoD has to overhaul the formula every game, but at least give it a few twists to make each Individual game stand out, thus giving all the more reason to buy the sequels.
Activision on the other hand doesn't really make the games stand out, but worst of all is when they release DLC, at $10 DLC of a few maps, and a couple months later you get the Next CoD.... without those maps, hell if CoD carried over all of its DLC maps, I wouldn't care how bad MW3 recycled, you're looking at 50+ maps.

This is what I did exactly. I got MW2 Hardened Ed. for $40 new, saw all the maps for World at War on sale for !2 bucks or so, then bought a mint World at War on eBay for $10. I skipped Black Ops, and will skip MW3. I bought Battlefield 3 instead and am enjoying it quite a bit. I will likely buy a Call of Duty game on the next generation of consoles however. I wouldn't mind seeing a WWII/Vietnam or a Modern type in some amazing new graphics. So maybe the 3rd Call of Duty game on the next gen systems ha. As is is I have quite enough multi player shooters to keep me good for a while on 360. I'm just sad two of my friends bought Battlefield 3, then bought MW3 as soon as it came out. They have not been on BF3 since, oh, if I'm lucky I can get them on Gears 3. I think Battlefield 3 was too much for them to handle personally... I however recently got into Conquest and am loving it as long as I'm not getting raped too badly.

BF3 is awesome, just youtube up BF3 operation asshat, sheer hilarity
