That's actually quite a nifty set up he's got going on there! Takes me back to the classic gaming days of the NES/Gameboy era...ah memories.

I really have to wonder if the NES cart plugs into the back of the gameboy as does it's handheld counterpart...

Whoa.. I kinda remember something like that was at Toys "R" Us stores back in 1992 or something as a big interactive Gameboy gaming display. I remember my first experience playing Super Mario Land 2 was on a big screen Gameboy like that if memory serves correctly. Before anyone asks, no it wasn't a "Super Gameboy" set up in a SNES system (which I bought 2 or 3 years later which was pretty cool). It just actually looked like that thing in the photo which is kinda hard to forget :o
