Stupid thread, but did anybody notice in DXC, level 3' (the alt level for 3) at the very start of the level, don't move.
In the background, standing on the bridge is a shadowed figure, cape blowing in the wind.
Any ideas???
Just an interesting easter egg/trivia.
-
Thats odd. I don't have DXC yet, but I'll check that out when I get it. Maybe it's supposed to be Shaft?
-
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Dracula....he's keeping an I on you.
-
From what I recall, there was a similar figure in the original RoB. Yeah, my guess is Dracula. But, others, for some strange reason, believe it's Alucard watching over Richter. LOL! ;D
-
Yeah it's there in the original too. It couldn't be Alucard though....he's still asleep
-
Of course he's asleep, but I bumped into some fans who are diehard convinced that it IS Alucard. :)
-
It looks like he has a matador hat on...

It's not supposed to be anyone in particular. It's just another minor background detail, of which Rondo has many.
-
Yes, I doubt that's Dracula, just a random guy like the skeleton before the minotaur boss.

Actually I always thought it was Dracula and he casts a spell that summons that three-eyed skull ghost at you.
In original RoB, that ghost comes from the background bridge, kinda.
-
Why would Drac be there? Isn't he supposed to be up in the castle keep drinkin' blood out a goblet? Y'know, preparing for the "Die Monster!" speech dialogue thing? lol. It's more likely Shaft casting that spell, Jorge.
-
I'm sure Dracula doesn't just hang out in the throne room all day. He's got a gigantic castle, I'm sure he goes out and enjoys it

Yeah it'd be boring if he just sat on his thrown all night I'm sure he goes out to have some fun too. He just goes back there when the belmont makes it to that area to fight him.
-
Aww....where's that pic that shows who it really is....
-
My guess is that, if anyone in particular, it's Shaft or possibly even Death. Dracula is basically his own last line of defense, so it seems odd that he'd leave his castle just to personally send a rather weak skull monster your way.
-
From how the silhouette is shaped, it resembles Dracula MORE than Shaft and Death. It has legs. Both Shaft and Death are wearing long robes that cover their legs. From what I recall, Dracula's wearing pants.

Konami Man!

Good point on the legs. Those legs are pretty long too, and Dracula is quite tall.

In dxc Dracula's wearing a skirt/robe. :o
-
How does the silhouette look like in DXC?
-
You guys are all wrong.
It's actually St.Germain, watching over the later belmont's activities, in case he needs to "interfere" there too. :)
-
That would be interesting. Where's the top hat?
-
He took it off. There's some pretty strong winds up there, he was afraid it'd fall off (or it already did). :o
Or the hat's actually there, but you just can't tell because the sprite's so small it would just end up being 1 pixel.

Maybe Dracula likes to stare whistfully at graveyards when he gets bored of drinking wine up in the castle keep, waiting for a Belmont to inevitably show up.
-
Reminds me of that strange flaming guy in the background bridge in Mortal Kombat 2.

Funny thing is, they actually made him a playable character in a more recent MK game /laugh
-
After all, who do you think it is that says "Let us go out this evening for pleasure. The night is still young." Classic Dracula line if I ever heard one ;)

Yeah. Didn't they call him Blaze? I always thought, though, back when I first saw him in MK2, he was just some poor soul who was being incinerated by the guy he was fighting(which kinda, for a strange reason, looked like MK1 Liu Kang).
-
I think it would be nice if they gave Dracula more of a presence in future games. Sure just meeting him at the end is a mainstay of the series, but it might be cool to have Drac taunt the player once or twice as they make their way through the castle...like in CV64. It would sure open up some narrative possibilities in the game's stories.
-

What do you mean? I clearly see a top hat there. No one's head is that tall.
-
I've always thought that it was the Werewolf boss you were supposed to kill in Stage 2 and since you took another path, he's just watching you.
(I think he wore a cape, I can't recall clearly)

No, the Werewolf from stage 2 was definitely not wearing a cape.
-
I figure it's Drac reconning (not retconning) on Richter, and upon spotting him sends him a warm hello gift in the form of the three eyed skull.
-
You know, about the St. Germain idea, it actually is possible. Perhaps they meant this sprite to be nothing. But, IGA noticed it around the time he made CoD and decided to make the mysterious figure into a time traveler and pretend he was watching Richter, thus St. Germain was created. :)
-
I'm pretty sure it's not St. Germain...Rondo was released in 1993, CoD in 2005.
-
If I where Dracula, I would spend my only chance of living by staying in the throne room all night.

I know that, but maybe IGA decided to make it St. Germain in his timeline, even though it might have been intended to be Drac or Shaft.

I already said, Look at it again.
I swear to god it looks like a Matador's Hat.
