Thanks to a "Best 50 moments in gaming" article we've had new information regarding one of the most frequent questions asked by the fans: Is Gabriel the only Belmont? Did he go into hiding just after Resurrection?? Some answers and hopeful quotes more than a year later of the ending that changed our series forever!
(https://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fnowgamer.net-genie.co.uk%2Fsiteimage%2Fscale%2F480%2F270%2F306091.jpg&hash=84bb4b4361431cd05972d3e9a508c2a70dba8ea6)
"After rejecting doing a direct remake of the original Castlevania game in 3D with Simon Belmont as the main character, we established that our Castlevania was going to be about Dracula and his relationship with the Belmont family."
"This story concept ended up as this huge epic thing spanning centuries, which clearly couldn’t be made into a single game. So we started at the beginning and made that part only. The origin if you like, that leads to Gabriel’s downfall."
"We didn’t know if we would ever be given the chance to tell the arc in its entirety. Just getting Castlevania: Lords of Shadow off the ground had taken years and was almost cancelled."
"So we decided to show a glimpse of the later stages of the arc, in the hope people would be interested in seeing where we could take Castlevania if given the opportunity."
"Whether we get the chance to fill in the rest remains to be seen but the epilogue does offer a tantalising glimpse into the future of the franchise and where it goes."
"I have to say there was some doubt if the epilogue was going to work at Konami but our philosophy was that this is our only shot at making Castlevania relevant again, and even if we never got to do another one, it would give people the chance to discuss the game and its meaning for years to come. It would at least, be a Castlevania people remembered."
"I felt that we didn’t have to fill in all the gaps in the story this time around. We could keep things open and let people make their own minds up about what happened in-between the end of the game and the epilogue."
"Even if this was our last Castlevania game. Some people want it spelt out for them but I think leaving people to use their own imagination is much more exciting."
"I love reading all the speculation and theories on the web. I am glad people are talking about the game. This is all we set out to achieve. Even if people don’t like what we did they are still talking about it and that makes me and the team very happy indeed."
Forget it Mr Cox, we know it's coming, Araujo spoiled the surprise, don't try to act "cool" ;D

Opinions? Theories? Excited? I am :D it's great to know that this new story arc has a beginning and an end ALREADY PLANNED so it won¿'t inflate itself forever with irrelevant stories leading nowhere *cough* IGA *cough*

Not excited.
Interested.....
But not excited.
-

You know as well as I do that is bullshit. Any story can get shoved into filler when a company wants to make more beyond it's original scope. You just want to take another senseless jab at IGA as always.
-
Since LOS has yet to establish what exactly the Belmont family’s relationship to Dracula is in their timeline the promise of more of them doesn't exactly offer me much comfort or arouse my interest. The Belmont’s could be set to become the series new villains for all we know - a family of vampire hunters that relentlessly hunts down the tragically cursed Dracula, it's not like they haven't turned heroes into villains before.
Whether we get the chance to fill in the rest remains to be seen
There is hope yet! the series fate has not been sealed that or Cox is just being a lying jerk... again!
-

"quoted" for being full of win. ;D

And I will do it anytime I can, every day that passes comes with the realization that IGA was terrible in lots of aspects for the series :P
The thing is, these guys have -according to this- lots of stories connected in a way that /makes sense/, they have no reason to make fillers, for the sound of this they have material for lots of games, generations could pass even before we see the arc completed
-
Although I have not yet played LOS.. it irks me that the soundtrack is filled with too much of a hollywood-orchestral design.
I am for a mixture of sounds to complement a solid game. But from what I have heard, this is not the CV I remember.
If we were to regain the same ideas that brought CV back from the ashes in 97' I would be all for it. But this, this is not CV.
I do give them credit for taking the series to another level. Branching out the Belmont origin. It just needs to feel more like a Castlevania title. Not a platformer that feels like everything out there. If this next chapter delivers something fresh. Count me in.
-
I'm really interested to see where this arc goes next. From what prospective do we view from? Who do we play as? Is this Dracula going to fight the way the one from the old cannon did?
This could be very interesting whether it feels like Castlevania or not.
-
Meh. They're gonna have to be a lot more creative and dump the Metal Gear-esque storytelling to win me over.
And fuck that generic Hollywood soundtrack.
-
LoS was meh at the most, graphically nice, gameplay, no thanks, it should have just been called Lords of Shadow, without the castlevania tag in my opinion, dont kid me wrong the game is good, it just doesnt feel castlevania enough, Castlevania for years has been known for its tromping through a gigantic castle on a hunt for dracula, and its music, Dracula, per say was kinda present but not in any form of his glory, just a miserable tyant, the sequel will need to do a much better job to impress me, after all, it has 20 some odd years of history to try to best.
oh and fire Kojima from the future projects, IF i wanted a castlevania movie, maybe id ask him, but he should stick to metal gear solid, and nothing else
but as they say, cant please em all, its one of those games people either love, or dont really care about
LoS2 requirements:
Non emo Dracula
Actualy familiar castlevania music
possibly the introduction of his second wife, as per the current cannon, (LoS was considered not part of the timeline yet)
less God of war mechanics, sure they work but it doesnt help the series much, it just makes them look like they're trying other games to see which works best
-
Yes. Looking forward what those guys can do. Hope they'll listen to what fans want!
-
hey i'll be happy as long as they put some of the familiar music in, not the hollywood esk music, and give dracula some clothes, the rags makes him look like a banshee from fable
-
The fact Dracula looks so bad in Modern Times may be related to the fact that he had to fight countless Belmonts and other creatures. I hope we'l get answers to our questions.
-
"Lords of Shadow 2" is going to be a good game. I'm confident there's going to be a lot less wall-shimmying, pointless QTE's & Titan fights, MercurySteam isn't stupid and they listen to fan complaints. The story is blaarrgg, but it is what it is and I'm sure they'll think of something interesting that'll have us discussing/debating for months to come, which is their purpose in the first place. So cheers to MercurySteam for trying to make Castlevania relevant in the public eye again. But if they include "ALUCARD BELMONT," then I'm done following this storyline and I will incessantly shit on all yous that defend it like it's supposed to be better than the canon storyline ;) So get your debate skills up, folks.
Yup.
-
more ironic, is why would he hide in a church? is he still clinging to his beleifs, and im wondering, will we play as a belmont in the next game, or "Vlad the Impaler" hey the turk war, is how he built his castle in rl, so its just a theory, and possibly during this course he meets "lisa"
Alucard Belmont, no it just doesnt sound right at all, so in theory, his next wife should have the last name Tepes, so he could assume that at his new moniker, to distance himself from the belmont line
-

Here's hoping.
Wasn't absolutely crazy about the first one, but it was good enough that I'm curious to see where it goes.
I'm relieved to hear that they still had a Belmont-Dracula feud in mind.
-
The way I see it, LoS had all this shit that Cox initially said wouldnt be in it because its shit that sells. IOW- he puit in titan fights. put in wall shimmying. put in big hollywood style orchestrated movie style music. Because its the shit other games do nowadays. They werent sure how well it would sell, which is also why they included that epilogue. they put in elements and shit that sell these days, and included that epilogue, in hopes that the combination would sell well enough for a sequel so they can tell their story.

Not only is the "blame IGA" meme horribly ubiquitous (making your attitude very silly), you have blind faith in the story-telling capabilities of the guys who have made one single game with a story that leaves a lot to be desired for. It's like your IGA-bashing sentiment is so strong you would praise any kind of turd someone makes - as long as it is not IGA making it.
Just because there is room in this timeline, doesn't mean it's going to be omg awesome (all the Classic timeline really needs after completing the old one is a proper reboot). And with the first game's original characters being hollow namedrops, I'm not expecting them to do justice to the classic conflict of Castlevania. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. They may feel free to pleasantly surprise me, though. A great game truly fitting the Castlevania name will impress me, not another subtle sales pitch meant to create hype.
-

Not in every single game actually. And there could be done much more than just "going through the evil castle"...again.
I'm not expecting them to do justice to the classic conflict of Castlevania.
I'm not expecting them to do classic Castlevania at all. I hope that thye will do their own thing, no matter how many old fans it disappoint. For the classic Castlevania I have 26+ games, so I want to see something new from the series, not retelling of the old canon with the new graphics.
Though most likely old fans, too stuck with the old views, so they will not appreciate new ideas. Such is a destiny of all old franchises it seems.

I'd take what Ahasverus says with a grain of salt. He always goes on these Cox-induced tirades whenever some new LoS-related story breaks. And then, when the high dies down, he's always apologizing for being a douche. ;D

For me personally I do want them to do something new. But they were trying new things before Lords of Shadow. Look at Order of Ecclesia for example. The glyph system, the way the stages were set up while retaining the metroidvania style, the town with quests. It was an experimental game but it did not copy other games like God of War, Uncharted or SotC. The only game is took que's from were the older castlevania titles but it was still experimental.
So I agree that the series needs to evolve but IGA could do it just as well as COX if you ask me and he could do it without copying so many other games.
-

IGA is known for introducing new game mechanics which I recognize, but his way with story-telling leaves many, many things to be desired.
-
The thing is, you can do new things without forsakening all that is old. It's some crazy notion people have nowadays that, if you reboot something, or continue on to make something relevant again, you have to basically shun everything before it and do something new for the sake of new, because, quite frankly, people who NEVER KNEW of the series have expectations and despite not knowing, nor being familiar with the series, DO know that the classic themes are bad bad BAD.
-
This is really amusing.
Lords of Shadow went out of its way to destroy the Belmont clan, but now we're supposedly going to see the sequel pull some kind of dues ex machina and make it all better. I wonder, where will this new Belmont come from? Maybe Gabriel and Marie had a child that Lords of Shadow was too lazy to tell us about... Maybe someone else assumes the Belmont name just as cheaply as Gabriel himself did... Or maybe Gabula has a rebound and seduces a woman into bearing him Alucard Belmont!!! ;D
And IGA is the one accused of sloppy story-telling.
-
Zobek becomes the Poltergeist King and gives the new Belmont the Vampire Killer to troll Gabeula and Satan at once.
Baba Yaga comes back to life for about five minutes before being killed in a missile drone strike.
Zobek plots to foil the new Belmont even after giving him the Vampire Killer but forgets why, embarrassingly right as his "plot twist monologue" cue shows up. Belmont gets impatient and leaves Zobek to fight the final boss.
(if LoS2 has any of these plot points I will buy two copies)

I'm worried. All I wanted from LoS in terms of story was one that was compelling, the game amazingly blew all of that to oblivion the moment you started the final level in the main game. That major twist is something I would be expecting a 14 year old on a fan fiction site to come up with. Seriously, Castlevania is quickly summarized as Belmont vs Dracula. Who thinks combining the two is a unique twist that a child hasn't thought up?
Why I'm worried is if they offer us more Belmonts, will this stupid shit continue? Will we see an Alucard-esqe Belmont?

The glyph system, the way the stages were set up while retaining the metroidvania style, the town with quests.
Glyph system were expanded / a bit changed Soul system form Sorrow games. Stages were setup like in Bloodlines, and we had town with "quests" back in CV2, and the quests idea was used in POR. If anything OOE not a experimental game, but more like ressurection of some ideas from the past. Sadly it come to late too restore what little integrity "metroidvania" formula had.
Cox just made Ahversus', Vampire Killer's and Sumac's day.
I believe it would take quite a while before someone will make your day like this. ;)
-
Reading that again, it doesn't sound too reassuring of the quality of the timeline, they could screw it up, hard, but it's a question of faith I suppose, I believe in them (here's hoping they make medusa heads this time). To be honest, every bit of CV news make my day :)
(Except the Pahislot stuff, yuck)
-
So everything aside, how is this news?
Also, Ahasverus, Pachislot is massive in Japan. I tried it when I went there, and to be honest, it was kind of fun.
Whole place smelled like nicotine, though.
-
on the contrary i'd forgive them if they made Leirbag Belmont, and he could look like Dycedarg Beoulve (https://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.wikia.com%2Ffinalfantasy%2Fimages%2Fc%2Fcd%2FDyce_Portrait.png&hash=4dfa3587278aacc3c25a19c36c8942f8f3950269)

LOL, I love FFT to death. Awesome story, but some of those names were horrid. It's like when I make fun of typical high fantasy settings by saying characters have names like "Perriwinkle Wumblefoot" and "Gafagell Wimwillow". Y'know, the "Come hither, good fellow, and let us talk of our ventures as we listen to thee minstrels while partaking of our mutton and mead!", LOL! It's a type of fantasy that's particular in taste, and I like it from time to time(the Ultima series was kinda like that, back in the day), but kinda gets silly. Funny enough, those types of fantasy worlds look a lot like the world seen in LoS, the whole Earthy Medieval setting. In the 70s and 80s, they'd be play Progressive rock and metal. Maybe some Styx "Crystal Ball" and Dio "Holy Diver". LOL! ;D
-
i am genuinely excited to see where this is going. LOS was the best thing to happen to castlevania in YEARS. it actually got castlevania back into mass gaming conciousness

In the West. What about Japan? if Domestic sales dont do well...

There is a reason, it's called money. And they'll always have that reason.
-
In the West. What about Japan? if Domestic sales dont do well...
I was checking up on that recently. Lords of Shadow sold 111,800 copies in Japan, which is about 13% of LoS Global sales. After a big opening week there, the sales dropped quite sharply... Meanwhile in the US, sales remained strong and steady past the first 3 months --with a much slower and steadier decline thereafter.
The fact is (even at 13%) Lords of Shadow sold more copies in Japan, than Castlevania Judgment sold Globally. So just from a sales perspective, it's safe bet that LoS is getting a sequel --regardless of the Japanese...
-
Sales in Japan are not surprising, considering they prefer playing Pachislot games.
And yeah, LoS was one of the coolest things that happened to CV over a few years, maybe since SotN.
-
At this point I just want a new Castlevania game, or at least an announcement. I don't care what it is, but I'm getting tired of the silence. It's almost 1,5 years since LoS came out, or maybe not really, but ALMOST. (HoDespair on PS3 doesn't count). I wasn't crazy about LoS, but LoS2 would be fine for now. But I would much rather hear something about a 3DS Castlevania. It's BOUND to happen in 2012, don't you agree? Or at least early 2013.
-
So, basically, they rebooted the franchise and now they're letting anyone else fill in the gaps between the end of LoS and the prologue with their own games.
Well, ok then. Sounds like we're going to get an even sloppier storyline now.
-
Off topic: Ah im back after seven long days without tv and internet, that was hell.
On topic: So my theory may end up being used after all. :)
-
In the West. What about Japan? if Domestic sales dont do well...
Castlevania has always been more popular in the West. It makes sense if you think about it, seeing that the series has always been heavily immersed in European history, culture, architecture, and lore.
Sales in Japan are not surprising, considering they prefer playing Pachislot games.
And yeah, LoS was one of the coolest things that happened to CV over a few years, maybe since SotN.
Since it's sold more than any Castlevania game I can think of, it might finally convince Konami to invest in the brand. Like really invest.
Which would be awesome.

I beg to differ, Akumajo Dracula:The Arcade looks damn awesome & is truly unique amongst the series. I'm still dying to play it.
-
While not entirely "news", I guess I can take this and hope for an LoS2 that will bring both new and old things to the table. With that said, I'm dying for this year to be over so that we'll hopefully, hear some solid CV news.
-

Be careful what you wish for.
Konami: We are now hard at work on a 3DS Castlevania.
Fans: YAAAAY! :D
Konami: Oh sorry, did I say "we"? I meant Titus the Fox.
Fans: ...... >:(
-
I dropped a message on Konami's Castlevania facebook page the other day about Castlevania 3DS. Not expecting an answer from them, but just to remind them it's still on my mind.
Then I got an annoying response from Operation Akumajou. Ugh.
-
What did it say? lol.

Konami: Oh sorry, did I say "we"? I meant Titus the Fox.
That name is forbidden!
But yes, it's probably gonna be something like that. I still dream about a WayForward Castlevania, but I guess we're not getting that, ever.
I also would like to see a Castlevania by finnish developer Frozenbyte. Looking at their duo of Trine game, it's clear that they love 2D platforming with GORGEOUS and detailed graphics.
Konami? Are you listening?
Didn't think do..

Konami, the 3DS is becoming a massive success more and more everyday and it's library is steadily growing with more anticipated titles by the minute. Can you give us a hint when we might expect to hear anything about Castlevania on the 3DS? I would love a new game with the classic platforming of the originals.

Operation: Akumajo
The Facebook team is pretty tight-lipped about Konami's plans for Castlevania. If they do know anything, it's a pretty good bet they have some non-disclosure agreements over their heads. We do know that Lords of Shadow sold very well, particularly in the US market. The total global sales recently passed One Million copies, so there will definitely be a sequel announced at some point. Mercury Steam may already have the green light to be working on it. The only real mystery right now is if Konami plans to continue developing any traditional Akumajo Dracula games. Will they continue supporting the 2-D artform? And if so, will they be making a serious investment in restoring quality? We may be waiting awhile for the answers...

OSM, your question is fairly routine for the Official Castlevania Facebook Page. Konami's reps have actually been responding to questions like yours with a rather generic "thank-you but we're not ready to announce any new products at this time" sort of spiel. Most fans would find *that* annoying, but to each his own --I apologize if you found the message offensive.
-
Cecilkain,
You really have to stop this. You're seriously doing more damage than good here.
You WANT people to ask the question OSM did. By replying in that manner you are DISCOURAGING that question from being posted, while making Konami seemingly unable to answer on their own. This only hurts the cause you claim to stand for.
Now follow me here, if everyone stopped asking 'whens the next Castlevania?' then now it appears NO ONE cares. If you keep answering for Konami, it not only insults them but also erases the importance of the person asking. If they do not reply themselves, they cant feel the importance being stressed.
You want people to keep asking that question in HIGH volume. Even if the Konami employees do not tell you about the next new Castlevania, they were forced to post regardless. You want that. The more they have to tell people they don't know, the more they FEEL the popularity and importance of the series.
Running things as you have been, you are only digging Castlevania's grave deeper and deeper. You really need to think things through before taking actions.
-
lol konami is tooooo lazy
-
Since I played LoS, I never felt it was a castlevania. No matter how many times I played it, or how many ppl posted 1,000 facts why it's castlevania. It just never felt like it. The music never felt like castlevania, the gameplay was more like GOW or some other game like that, and the character felt like someone that doesn't really belong in a castlevania game. It overall it was an ok game in itself, but as a castlevania game, it was shit.
Hearing bout the fact another one is likely in production, doesn't excite me really. I'd rather see more 2D castlevanias either traditional or metroidvania, it doesn't matter. It seems to me that it's better off the series as a 2D one

Relax.
The reply had a little grandstanding, but it was no more discouraging than what Konami themselves would have posted.
You need to remember that even OA (with its nearly 300 members) is a drop in the bucket compared to the tens of thousands within the Castlevania fanbase. While it's good for the fans to be asking about a 3DS game individually, you can't deny the advantages of a more coordinated campaign. The big problem is that even on Konami's Official Castlevania Page only a few hundred out of about 158,000 fans appear to be actively engaged. So in addition to weak participation, the campaign would also suffer from weak exposure and momentum as well. Right now is a far better time to be networking and communing with the like-minded. Then when Konami makes an announcement to put Castlevania back in the news, we'll be ready...
Running things as you have been, you are only digging Castlevania's grave deeper and deeper. You really need to think things through before taking actions.
We're still going strong. OA first joined the Official Castlevania Page back in late September, since then our networking efforts have grown the membership by about 48%. Uzo, you've been a vocal critic for a long time, and you've made it clear on a number of occasions how you disagree with my philosophy and management of OA. If you really believe in the cause, this is your invitation to step up and dedicate your time and energy to setting a better example. Otherwise, it's time to let it go and move on.

You totally missed the entire point of my post there. Please re-read it (assuming you actually read it the first time, I really can't tell).

Not really, we're just not connecting. Let's try point by point instead.

Let me put this another way... Let's suppose Konami had answered uzo's question with their discouraging response, what would be the difference? Unless of course you don't expect an answer in the first place... And even if that's the case, Konami's still getting the message regardless of any other replies that get posted.

Like I said before the Official Page has about 158,000 fans with a few hundred actively engaged --and out of the few hundred that are actively engaged, only the noobs are asking these kinds of questions. The regular visitors are all to familiar with Konami's "standard response". So let's pretend for a moment that YOU are leading the Konami Facebook team. Do you really think tens of thousands of your Facebook fans really don't care just because they're not asking for something, that the team has already tried answering and addressing hundreds of times before?

How would you define "high volume"? We're talking about a Facebook Page with 158,000 fans --I'd say you need to be able to mobilize fans numbering in the thousands at least. How do you accomplish that when only a few hundred are actively engaged with the Facebook Page? The reality is that most of the Castlevania fanbase is off playing some damn good games that came out this past year... No meaningful campaign can happen without those folks coming home to lend their support --and that won't happen until Konami puts Castlevania back in the news.
-
Obviously, I'm REALLY looking forward to LoS2. LoS, while not perfect, was almost exactly what I wanted out of a 3Dvania.
Haters be damned :P

The difference is them having to respond themselves which makes ALL the difference. This is clearly written already in my first post.

You are firstly presuming they honestly give a shit. That is mistake number one. You also have to remember this is their job. If it is out of sight, it is out of mind. It is as simple as that. You want them to get sick of answering it, because then they will begin to realize how much news is wanted.

It is YOUR job to put Castlevania into the spot light and news, and YOUR job to recruit people to stage a high volume question campaign. Konami obviously doesn't give a shit anymore, and have no reason or obligation to do what you want. This is your movement, so why are you sitting back waiting for something to magically happen? Get out there and actually work toward the cause. Otherwise, what the hell are you even doing with 'Operation Akumajo'?
-
Ill say what ive said many a time. Take 100,000 strong/Get me off the moon as an example. The way they do things.
Though again, the scope and reasons for both are hardly comparable. 100,000 strong has far more reason for existing than OA does.

What you're missing here is the fact that Konami responds at their own pleasure --not the pleasure of the fans. Watch the Page for a couple weeks and see how many of the hundreds of fan comments actually get a direct response...
You are firstly presuming they honestly give a shit. That is mistake number one.
Where did you get *that* presumption?
You also have to remember this is their job. If it is out of sight, it is out of mind. It is as simple as that. You want them to get sick of answering it, because then they will begin to realize how much news is wanted.
If they get sick of answering, they will (and they do) STOP answering. And like you just said "high volume" is needed to create the kind of impact that's needed...

Considering you still haven't defined "high volume" I'm presuming you actually agree with my definition. The question here is --how does OA reach the tens of thousands of fans that are busy playing other games, without the advantage of Konami breaking any major news to put Castlevania back on IGN's front page. Your answer appears to be ---make your own news. R-i-g-h-t... Since you didn't give any clear examples of how to do that, let's entertain a fantasy. Just for the sake of argument, let's suppose one of the editors of IGN offered an interview right now and published it tomorrow. Who would actually end up reading it? The hardest of the hardcore that already know about us.
As for what I'm doing right now with OA ... I am still exploring options to produce a Demon Castle War teaser... Still soliciting assistance within the community... Still developing new propaganda... Still networking here and elsewhere to reach the like-minded... But you need to remember OA is not a JOB. I am a hardcore fan VOLUNTEERING my time and energy to a cause I feel passionately about --it's not a personal service to you.
Ill say what ive said many a time. Take 100,000 strong/Get me off the moon as an example. The way they do things.

Apples and oranges in sooo many ways. We've had that conversation before, but let's have it again --when it's a fair comparison.
-
Job or not, if you're going to do it do it right. Otherwise, what is the whole point?
You've done blah blah this and blah blah that, but you're still running in circles and not handling things right. You stole the naming scheme of Operation Rainfall, so why not pay attention to the other things they did? I'm sorry but, you've honestly done jack shit compared to what they've been organizing.
Operation Rainfall, and 100,000 Strong for Legends 3 got in the news all over the place. It's no fantasy goal, it's what you need. Haven't you been paying attention to the movements that proceed you? And no, they're NOT apples and oranges. Their tactics are VERY much applicable to your cause and just about any cause in general.
You want me to provide examples all the time, and I will say as do others, to look at those who came before you. Clearly you don't see their applicable features or understand the correlation behind their results and their actions. You want me to waste a few hours of my time writing you a god damned essay on the break down of Operation Rainfall and 100,000 Strong? And then what? Given your track record so far, would you even understand it all and be able to apply it to the cause? Forgive my pessimistic attitude, but you've shown me nothing that would lead me to believe that.
Do not misunderstand my posting as concern for OA or wanting to help. At this point I don't believe the redemption of Operation Akumajo is even possible. The only thing it's achieving is making the fan base look like a bunch of retards and assholes. I just want it to dissolve so another can take it's place, with a new leadership, and the hope that it does things even remotely right.
Occupy Castlevania, anyone? (Sindra for president!)

Uzo, this is video game industry news we're talking about.
THE FANS DON'T MAKE THE NEWS, THE GAMES MAKE THE NEWS.
Megaman Legends 3's cancellation is what put 100,000 Strong in the news. If Legends 3 had never been announced, 100,000 Strong would be in exactly the same boat that Operation: Akumajo is right now. As for Operation Rainfall, they actually formed on IGN's forums and received favorable coverage on the IGN website just a few days after Nintendo announced that Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower would not be localized for North American release. One might suspect the editors had some bias or vested interest in OR from the start, but even if that were true, the games themselves were still newsworthy.
So uzo, with these facts in mind --how do we follow their lead without a relevant game in the news?
You want me to provide examples all the time, and I will say as do others, to look at those who came before you. Of course I expect specifics and examples! At the very least it would give your trolling some real credibility and elevate our conversation. Your comparison to Operation Rainfall and 100,000 Strong may be understandable on the surface, but ultimately you're either uninformed and or grossly unfair --at least in terms of following their example for media exposure... The idea that a novice group of a couple hundred fans can approach a major media company like IGN, and expect an interview or an article, without any newsworthy game to sell the story... Well, that's just an utterly foolish idea.
Do not misunderstand my posting as concern for OA or wanting to help. At this point I don't believe the redemption of Operation Akumajo is even possible. Well uzo, regardless of your dissent, Operation: Akumajo will carry on without you. As for Occupy Castlevania, you may want to get started on that yourself... It looks like Sindra may have other plans.... ;)
-
It's clear that you just don't get it, and probably never will. Oh well.
-
Guys. This thread is about LoS. Uzo, if you want to argue with Cecil in another OA argument, take it to private messages. Try to keep the threads on-topic, would you?
-
I agree. Keep it on topic, fellas.
-
Obviously, I'm REALLY looking forward to LoS2. LoS, while not perfect, was almost exactly what I wanted out of a 3Dvania.

I never wanted Castlevania to be God of War and Uncharted bastard child, as a proper 3D game... but this shit is what most of the western gamers likes now (open world games, automatic cinematic gameplay, etc).
I thought it would be more in the line with LoI, but with non-shitty level design.
