Title: Do you think they'll make another online CV game like Harmony of Despair?
Post by: Charlotte-nyo:3 on December 18, 2011, 04:22:31 PM
I don't exactly know how unequivocal a success it was (they said early on that if the 360 version did "well" they'd port it to PS3 and that happened) but it wasn't a bomb. Of course they may conclude that one game like that is enough for awhile and not make one for a long time if they're open to another one in the future.

I'd prefer another HoD, one with more then 6 started stages, theres so many stages they could use, so alot of potential still

I wouldn't mind one If it is done RIGHT this time.

I'm talking exploring a big metroidvania CV world with friends.

ALL the previous CV heroes including the ones that where left out such as Trevor,Sypha,Grant, and Juste.

Bringing back the level up system (making it a online rpg would be awesome!)

Maybe having a personalized room like in Harmony of Dissonance where you can spend your time before setting out on the cv online world.

Thats what I would want to see but I suppose I would be asking to much from Konami.

HoD2 is welcomed, but make it worth it like make the game feel good not just a cut-paste thing maybe a 2.5D version is in order, yet konami seems to think CV is not worth the time, well make it worth their facking time. making effort shows, which konami seems to lacks except for their golden goose of a series it feels like no care goes into the other series just that all of them are either an afterthought or nothing. It does not matter, if it looks, and plays well then take a chance!!!!!!!!

Option 3 for me. I've given this title a try a few months ago and it's not very exciting to me. So if there ever was to be another online CV experience then it should be done on an entirely different scale. And lose that damned clock too!  :P

If they do it, it needs a few things: A campaign with an actual fucking plot, and not having a roster compose of already-existing Castlevania characters. Offer a system where the player creates a character and use that for the game. If people think the idea of having hundreds of created Belmonts in the game is a bad idea, then don't have any Belmonts in the story. :P

An "Online Castlevania" would require a huge team and a lot of amount of work; but if done correctly it could make Konami millions. First off - cut the 2D Metroidvania style; Use a map system of course but keep it in 3D. Have the typical RPG elements but instead of the traditional MMORPG type, make it a hack and slash kinda deal with interesting traps and platforming and difficulty. I could easily transcribe a game type that would best fit this - but if they where to do this only a small fraction of the fanbase would play this, they would want to expand to millions of people not just a "Small group".

But this is just coming from knowing the ins and outs of MMORPG types for years. It really wouldn't be hard to create, and honestly? Why a plot? Well, I can see a "basic plot outline" I.e you are a warrior who must hunt down the evil creatures of the night. But why? Keep is free-roaming non-linear and people will play for hours on end.  Of course quest would need plots especially at the "end game" to keep people rather amused instead of being zombies to dungeon crawling.

Class based or tree-based (i.e you make your OWN character) housing to store items...etc.  Honestly? It would be perfect to be put in a world of mythological and undead creatures. I can just see it now, a group of you and your friends have to defend one of the local towns and get the people to safety of the Church (our out of town) and protect it from an on slaught of Zombies and Werewolves for say... 10-15 minutes.

Time elements should take place: It would effect what creatures are out and about and or how strong a monster is.  This would also apply to lunar cycles for Lesser Lycanthrope type creatures...etc.

I mean, think of the possibilities.... ;o

I really hope they don't.  HoD was the only cv game that I got real sick of real fast, and I don't see myself playing it ever again.

yes they will make another online game and it will be just as crappy.  as for how similar it will be, i can't say.  all i know is that it WILL be just as crappy if not worse.

I'm not against idea of the CV Online, but it must be done without overwhelming copypaste and have balanced gameplay, where every character have a chance to shine.

As for the question: "will they make another HD like game?" I'm not sure that they will do it. If anything they could create HD 2.0, which will be bscially fixed version of the original HD with some new stuff. But I think it's too late for that.

I just want a castlevania online for PC.

You just stole my entire post right there. That is exactly what I want to see also. Since I do not own a 360 or ps3 I only bought nintendo products this round since sony has let me down so hardcore in the past and since the xbox is just a meh system to me. Though I like the current xbox model and it does have some things I really like I just find the game library as a whole to cater to the casual buy whatever is popular at the time type of gamer.

Online/multiplayer gaming is NOT for me, and that's why it's not surprising that I'm someone that likes single player action/adventure games like CV.  I would hate to see it go down that road and lose the things I loved about it.

Well, considering it was ported based on 360 sales, I can say it did pretty well. Not the perfect Castlevania by any means, but the potential is still there. I also heard from some IGN report that Harmony of Despair was among the top 20 downloaded on the PSN since its release, so I suppose that should mean something for it. I can't say that another online castlevania game 100% will be released in the future, but it has a shot. Konami need only fix a few things gameplay wise, then it possibly could rake in more sales and respect from the gaming community that likes action/platformers.

My thoughts on those fixes in the spoiler  :P

I for one wouldn't mind a CV MMO if done right. The amount of effort needed to get a Sub-weapon/Magic from level 8-9 is ridiculous. A few more characters (Nathan Graves anyone?), and more variety in the characters. There was such little difference in some characters. More exploration, an actual storyline, and more bosses.
