If sales for the Castlevania series 1 figures do well, there will most certainly be a series 2. Who else would you like to see immortalized in plastic?
I would like to see:
-Old school Dracula (tuxedo style)
-Death (just about any version)
-Richter (Kojima style)
-CV IV Simon
-Trevor (any version but CoD)
Those would be my top picks, of course a good 'ol red skeleton and Medusa would be cool too. Really, there are hundreds of choices for NECA to choose from......
-
Sypha Belnades
Elizabeth Bartley

Not to criticize, but when did Drac wear a tux?
Anyway, Death, Richter, Sypha, and Elizabeth Bartley would indeed rock.
-
In Reply To #3
Sorry, I guess I didn't mean a tux. I was mostly referring to Drac's appearance in CV X68000/Haunted Castle. (Like an homage to Bela Lugosi.)
Also (I can't believe I forgot this earlier) A Johnny Morris / Eric LeCarde two pack from Neca would rock! Bloodlines needs some love too....

There are a lot of great two-pack ideas NECA could capitalize on. Maybe each successive series could offer four stand alone figures and one themed set, like Richter and Maria, Werewolf and Minotaur, Slogra and Gaibon, etc. There are a lot of great possiblilities.

I'm not a huge fan of the character, but Isaac would make a killer action figure.
When Rugal sees this he shall praise and hug you.
-
Richter and Maria two pack. Slogra and Gaibon. I also think it would be great to see a Dracula's Curse set with Trevor, Sypha, younger Alucard and Grant
-

Oh yeah, that would be quite awesome.
But on a similar note, a Sorrow pack with Yoko, Julius and Arikado and/or Soma would also be quite cool.
-
Death definitely, any incarnation would be great. A simon's quest simon would be cool too.
-
Any of the following would be great: CV2 Simon, Trevor from CV3, Frankenstein from CV1 & CV3, CV4, Death of course (preferrably oldschool death), the Fishman, Slogra and Gaibon, and Medusa (SCV4 version).
-
I'd like to see a Leon or Joachim figure or the cv3 cast. Also cv4 death, that was one awesome design while still not cheesy, ugly or lame like some of the others.
And beezelbub. :o
-
LoI Death, Joachim, CoD Trevor and definetely a Richter/Maria pack. A Shaft/Old School Dracula would also be nice, to stay in the theme of RoB with the Richter/Maria thing.
-
I for one would love to see more boss characters. Slogra would deffinately be there along with either RoB or SCIV Death.
the lesser enemies would be nice too but perhaps they wouldnt be full size figures.
other than that i suppose a richter figure would be nice and deffinately super castlevania 4 simon.
-

You mean like the fleaman and peeping eye that are in the current series, right? Yeah, I think a couple packs of just some lesser enemies would be cool. You know, if they start making everything you would need to "have an adventure" with the figures and actually "play" with the figures, then they might make a model of the castle, or just mini sections of the castle where you depict memorable scenes to put on display or even just to play with. That would be nice, like if the made a model of just the throne room and stairway leading up to it, complete with the throne and everything. That'd be nice.
-
The Neca guy mentioned that he wanted to do Richter and Death, so I assume they are going to stick with the SotN theme. If that's the case, I'd like to see:
Richter with long hair and coat
adult Maria
Death
Shaft
They could easily make Shaft the variant chase figure (like Simon), giving him clear colored parts, making him ghost Shaft.
Also if they went this route, it would be cool to see them do a Rondo two pack with a brand new kid Maria and a Richter that has been repainted a little with a new head that has short hair and no coat.
-
Richter
Maria
Death
Trevor

Similar to the fleaman and peeping eye but more of an inbetween size with minimal articulation. Some lesser enemies designs are great and i'd love to see some mermen with a water squirting feature or a durhon with a karate chop action for his sword.
-
i would like to see alucard drac and succubus not borked up in production :-)
i think a lilith/succu/etc trio pack would be awsome...no glude over bitty-titys or anything
CV2 simon would be great its my fav game! infact, I think I will play it today!
a AoS/DoS set would be nice- i want evil freked out AoS crazy hair soma

Uh huh, yeah I know what you mean. That would also be cool. Like, the lesser anemies that are the size of humans, like demons, zombies and skellies.
-
The should have a BAF (Build-a-figure) of a bigger enemey if NECA is restricted to a specific character size, which I doubt seein how they are able to release a Tryant for RE and the Balrog for the 6 inch LOTR toyline because Toybiz/Marvel toys couldn't make one in scale; they tried, but couldn't find a retailer to carry them and the sculpt was awful when compared to the NECA version.
I would like to see a BAF skeleton. It would probably piss of army builders, but it would be cool where each figure comes with a limb of a skeleton, where the parts can be removeable after being built to show homage to the game.
As for figures I would like to see in wave 2, they are
Ritcher(Prefer the DXC version, but if not, a SOTN version; however, seeing how the outfit between DXC and SOTN are similar, I can see NECA pulling a variant or a retool with a different Richter head, as well as a different coat.
Death(Cv4 or any of the DXC/ROB version. Before I played ROB years ago, CV4 was my favorite version of Death. The death in the blue robe in DXC looks cool, as well as his alternate form.)
Maria (each wave deserves to have at least one hot chick and because Sonia isn't canon, why not Maria?)
Axe Guard, SOTN or DXC style(A lesser enemies, but nevertheless, cool-looking.)
Boatman...Kidding.
As for tiny pack ins, Ghost, imp (One can either have them as enemies or as Alucard's minon,) and those things that were in CV4 (the creatures that replaced the fleamen in the jp version of CV3) would be cool.

Action features like you mention for the mermen would be great, but I can imagine some toy collectors being pissed if NECA add stuff like karate chop action, no offense. I mean, they tend to do in regards to the Marvel line when Marvel toys (formally known as toybiz) had the license. Ppl would bitch about action features unless they didn't restrict or modify articulation or the gimmick is an accessory like a rock launcher that shoots toy missles.

COD Trevor plus the Dracula

In Reply To #21
Yeah, but theyre still called action figures, which are toys, so that woud only seem necessary.
-
In Reply To #23
No... they're really just called figures. Not every action figure needs action moves, don't sacrifice quality sculpts, paints, and articulation for something stupid like karate chops and squirt guns.
-

I guess we won't have any accurate WereBear or Merman figures then.
-

You are mistaken, my friend. 8)
Action figures are called action figures is because they are poseable and not because they have action features. That is why figures are called figures; they have no articulation.
If I recall correctly, the term was used around the old gi joe toys before the kung-fu grip, which waws just a rubber hand that can grab things easily.
As for it being necessary, no way unless you are tryin to sell these toys to little kids. Action gimmicks and features are only added in toylines that are aimed for kids and not for lines aimed for adults. I mean if Neca was aiming for the younger demographics, why did the company give the Succubus with a removeable or didn't censor any religious symbols?
--UPDATE--
I checked wiki to make sure of what I remembered is right aout Hasbro using the term "Action figures" for the original gi joe line because of poseability. Furthermore, they also used the term to distinguish their military toys from dolls. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_figure
Prior to gi joe, toys back didn't have the articulation like they do now until the creator of gi joe got the inspiration from those artistic armatures, used for drawing. Before gi joes, toys were like Barbie, with limited points of articulation.
Also, to go back with action features, it really depends what the action feature is when aimmin to toy collectors. If the toy is an original as in not a reissue, having stuff like Karate chops and spring loaded waist is a turn off for the older demographics since the older demographics buy the toys for poseability and display more than role playin'. As such, having a spring loaded arm that goes down when you raise it or press a buttom would make it harder for adult collectors to pose the toy the way they want to because the arm can be posed in a certain angle and if the figure has a button, it tends to stick out like a sore thumb. However, things like LED (if the button is very well hidden, though this feature is tend to use on mechs, which is allowed since the button can be hidden well), water squirting action (as long as it is done right and the trigger is well disguised like say the top fin of the merman), or missle launchers(if they are removeable from the figure,)are acceptable because they don't limit the articulation and sculpt. Keep in mind that I do not make these rules, these are things I see on toy forums where toy collectors get pissed if an action feature like spring loaded arms ruins a toy while praise stuff like LED in a robot's head.
For instance, ppl are happy about the new Ironman movie toys since all but one toy has an action feature of missle launchers, which can be removeable. Before, Hasbro and Toybiz tend to put action features on toys like say, Spiderman, which would upset the collectors since these things would effect articulation and sculpt of toy.
Also, I assume it cost more money to make a toy with a gimmicksince it takes more engineering and different materials like metal and stuff to make it. I mean, Transformers toys tend to be more expensive than your run of the mill pokemon toy because of the main different pieces of plastic and other crap that might be needed like for instance, batteries and a light bulb to light a robot's eyes.
However, I doubt we will see action features on CV toys since as I said before, they are marketed to the older crowd, so having spring loaded whatever isn't necessary to attract ppl to buy them. Ppl aren't buying CV toys for karate chops and spring loaded waist. They are buying them because they like the sculpt and are fans of the game.

Wow, I think you've got something there. In series 1, if you collect all of the figures you get all of Simon's sub-weapons.
Now imagine in series 2, when you collect every figure you get all of Dracula's relics (i.e. Eyeball, Rib, Ring, Heart, etc..) -OR- all of the special items (Golden dagger, Diamond, Red/blue/white crystals, Oak stake, etc..)
As I said before, this franchise has unlimited potential. I just hope when/if we see series 2, it improves over series 1. After all, this is Castlevania, and it demands respect.

That dracula relics idea of yours seems like a good idea since that concept was used in the games twice and since one of the games was SOTN, I can see them doing that especiallt how must of the figures they did are SOTN ones.

They do that 3 times. Simon's Quest, SotN, and Harmony of Dissonance
-
- Death
- Soma Cruz
- Mathias Cronquist
- Leon Belmont
-
In Reply To #29
Since three games use the relic idea, that means the next head Belmont figure could be:
-Simon (CV II)
-Richter (SotN)
or
-Juste (HoD)
Although I am pretty sure Richter will be next, I would like see a CV II Simon (in armor and with his shield)...
-
Wouldn't mind seeing a deluxe type figure of Dracula with throne. Any incarnation.
-
As for it being necessary, no way unless you are tryin to sell these toys to little kids.

Leon also uses relics.
-
Succubus with a removeable
It's glued in. If you want to remove it you have to be prepared to damage the figure.
-

Glued or not, it was intended to be removeable, seeing how NECA bothered to paint nipples and flesh underneath the bra.
-
Originally yes, but for some reason they changed their mind and made it non-removable by normal means though.

I think they meant the "Dracula pieces" relics. Y'know, like the "Eye of Dracula" or the "Heart of Dracula" and so on. Weren't their five pieces(Eye, Fang, Rib, Heart and Ring) of Dracula? Would rock to have five characters in that figure line. Maybe:
Armored Simon(CV2)
Juste(HoD)
Richter(SotN)
Maxim(HoD)
Maria(SotN)
Though, Maxim might be a minor hitter with fans. Other figs I'd love to see(aside from Richter, Maria, Death and Trevor) are:
- Leon Belmont
- Walter Bernhard
- Sypha Belnades
- Hector
- Christopher Belmont
- Shaft
- Eric Lecarde
- Elizabeth Bartley
- Stella
- Julius Belmont
- Genya Arikado
- Soma Cruz
- Graham Jones
-
Though Maxim might be a minor hitter with fans.
I would actually like to see a Maxim figure, cause he was just a really cool character, IMO.
-
Well, I never said it was directed towards kids. I'm not a kid and I still play with toys! Lego, and video games, for example, and soon, the CV figures (see, I left out the action that time, for all of you that get offended by that.). And about the Succubus top, I never said it wasn't for "naughty" kids.
-
In Reply To #34
Yes, I was referring to Dracula's body parts from CV II, the same parts were used as relics by Alucard in SotN, and finally collected yet again by Juste in HoD.
The more I think about it, the more I think NECA should do Castlevania "themes" in the subsequent series. For instance, series 2 could be CV III themed, and include:
-Trevor -heart
-Grant -rib
-Sypha -ring
-Death -eyeball and
-Cloaked Trevor (variant)-nail
Of course then I wouldn't get my CV II Simon or Bloodlines Johnny.................. :P
-
- LoI/SotN Death
- CV2 Simon
- Sypha
- Grant
-
What about item accesories? I was thinking, what about those Boss Orbs you get after defeat the bosses in some CV games? That would make a cool accessory. Maybe throw in a few smaller monsters too. I'd like to see:
- Heart
- Money Bag
- Crown
- Double/Triple Shot Icon
- Holy Book
- Laurel(like from CV2)
- Oak Stake(like from CV2)
- Life Vial
- Balloon Pod
- Raven
- Ectoplasm
- Toad
- Medusa Head(this one was actually shown in the concept art for the figures).
- Bone Pillar
- Ghost
- Slime
- Imp
- Tombstone
- Magic Tome
-
As much as I don't care about the Succubus breast glue thing, its kind of stupid to change it after showing them as not before. And from teh designs I say, I personally thought they looked like crap. So either another company pick it up and do a better job or no figurines at all.
-
In Reply To #44
Funny... cause NECA is renowned as the best figure company there is. I think they look awesome. But some people hate Cv in any non-video game form. I hated the Cv comic, but only because it was garbage.
-
But you said it was necessary for them to have action feature because they are actions figures.
-
IF they were action figures, but now I know they aren't. But then again, it isn't really necessary for them to have action features, just as longs as you can play with them, which it seems you can with these figs. Otherwise, what would be the purpose of accesories, weapons, and common enemies to whip down? If they weren't intended to be played with, then they would have just been a couple of figurines on a display stand that can't move, and don't have anyweapons or accesories, thus, they'd only be for display, not just play.
First off, I never said these aren't action figures. It was another poster, who is obviously wrong since action figures are called action figures for having some moveable joints. If you check wiki and type in action figures, they give a good definition of it. As for weapons, acessories, and enemies, they are added to create a scene or different poses. I mean, one can either pose Alucard with or without his sword or Simon with his leather or chain whip. As for the enemies, I seen pics of someone posing the fleaman on top of simon and such. Having weapons, acessories, and enemies doesn't necessary mean they are to be played with.
I mean some accessories and such made by Mcfarlane and NECA are very fragile and using it to roleplay a battle (for instance, using Clawful's club from the NECA MOTU line) to bash Dracula's brain in, will result in a broken club. I am sure if one roleplays and uses the holy water accessory at the fleaman figurine, the cross would break it thrown too hard. These speciality toys are made in a brittle plastic than toys made for kids. I mean, you can drop a power ranger toy 7 feet off the ground and have no breakage, but if you do that to a Simon CV toy, I am sure he will shatter in pieces.

Actually, NECA has already done a Medusa-head if you count the one that comes with Kratos from the God of War line. It looks pretty damn sweet too!
(Hmmmmm, I wonder if there is a way to have Simon hold Medusa's head instead of Kratos.......) ;)
-
For series 2, I'd like:
Death (LoI or)
Dracula (Classic or PoR)
Richter (DXC)
Trevor
Stella & Loretta (2-pack?)
I think if there ever was a Build-A-Figure, it would be cool to see one of Dracula's many "final forms" to be honest.
-
I think if there ever was a Build-A-Figure, it would be cool to see one of Dracula's many "final forms" to be honest.
Now THAT is an excellent idea. If NECA were to do that, which Dracula "second/final/true" form should they choose? My vote would be for the classic blue batlike-demon form as seen in Castlevania NES, X68000/Chronicles, and Rondo/DXC.
-
Now THAT is an excellent idea.
-
Didn't the guy who sculpts the figures say that if there's a second series, he'd want to have Dracula's demon form in there? I think the default demon form is that of CV1/RoB/SotN/DoS/DXC. It's probably one of the more widely known "forms" of 2nd Dracula. Though I wouldn't mind seeing the 2nd form from Dracula's Curse, the floating head monster.
-
Though I wouldn't mind seeing the 2nd form from Dracula's Curse, the floating head monster.
The third form from CVIII would be awesome too, especially if it could shoot those projectiles.
-

In the article with Neca, he was referring to Dracula's second form from the NES version. Although if they did it in figure form, I'm sure it would look closer to the Rondo creature.
Either way, that would be awesome!
Despite it's flaws, I really hope the series 1 figures are selling well. I really want a series 2..............
-
The second form from CV1 was basically the basis to the forms we'd see in X68000/Chronicles, RoB, SotN and DoS. The only difference is that the others basically are graphically superior versions, but you can tell how they were built upon each other. How the one from X68000 looks, it resembles the CV one(giant demonic creature with bat wings between it's arms), and acts exactly the same(the whole jumping animation). Then with RoB(which is basically the same oen seen in SotN and DoS), it acts similar as well as keeping some of the X68000's features, like the small curved horns. Those seem to be the only consistent forms that Dracula's used more than once. His Bloodlines form doesn't look like his CV3 form, nor does his CoD form look like his SCV4 form. Different looking Draculas, different looking demons, be them just "Skull-faced"(SCV4), a Charun-looking demon(CV3), a prickly crotch-mouth demon(Bloodlines), a giant demon with four angel wings(CoD), A white haired purple demon with Alien-like tendrills(CotM), and so on(so on...).

I still think they look like crap. And I do recall, the last time these models made a topic, someone ... maybe 2 people said they noticed NECA quality seemed to them to be goign down hill.
-

Speaking of the different forms, I think the CoD and PoR forms look like 3D and 2D forms of each other.

I would like to see:
1) Maria
2) Nathan
3) Richter
4) Galamoth
5) Simon from super castlevania VI
6) Liza (Aloucard's mother)
7) Master librarian
