Some campy parts of the dialogue are legendary, but some things should simply be removed. Like parts of Drac's speech after defeat. I mean, he quotes the Bible..

It's a grueling death match between father and son, not the conclusion of a James Bond movie. It's cool Drac quotes it, seeing as he used to be a devoted man of God, but it doesn't fit the situation. Al's reaction is exactly what I thought when I heard it the first time.

I think its biggest flaw is its difficulty.  So, I would change that, if it can be counted as one thing.

I'd upgrade Richter with new stuff. New sprites, few additional moves like doublejump, backdash, additional whips to collect like Leon or cod Trevor etc.

The man needs new looks finally. It's been over 14 years since his first appearance and he still looks like pulled straight from rondo, dammit! :o

Number one on my list is difficulty - so that would be ramped right up to maybe CoTM difficulty.

Secondly I'd put some restrictions on being able to go anywhere you like in the Inverted castle as soon as you get there. you can miss out loads of neat stuff or collect better stuff before other weapons that makes them completely obsolete then you tend not to use them and it feels like a waste...

thirdly but least important is to flesh out Richters game and give it some linearity too, otherwise it just feels like a jumbled mess where you can go strait to drac if you really want.

Redrawn sprites in HD, and difficulty and enemy attacks.

Give Alucard a gun subweapon instead of the useless cross, something like Nathan's in CoM. That'd be cool.

Drac quoting the bible was FTW :-) deff just after one of my replays it was the verse of the week on moody bible radio- called my mom "Hey, did you hear the verse of the week?" "Yeah" "Its from Castlevania! Dracula quotes it" "*sigh*"

Adding MORE story and makeing the game longer - increase the difficulty in some of the fights- skill wise not just "Oh i need to use XYZ wepon/armor combo to cheat-win"

and always...more succubus

Dracula's Bible reference wasn't sarcasm?

Meh...change...give a more epic Castle Kepp, that's all

I would not really change anything in SOTN, but overall I would change Matthias from becoming Dracula.  I would leave them as two separate vampires and have them make war over the Crimson stone with the Belmonts and most of Europe at the time caught in the middle.

Actually I would have the SoTN score completely redone with live instruments and do away with the ending theme.

It was sarcasm, which makes it even more inappropriate.

what..........? What does God have to do with what I said?

I thought SotN was live instruments. Or am i confusing that with something.

Nope. It's synth, but only prerecorded. I don't really think in any of the cv titles' the music was done with live instruments.

But that's what makes extra character modes so much fun! You can draw your own path through castlevania!

I dont think so either, but that would be really cool.

Then leave it as an option for all characters. Fleshed out, with some story, items and everything main game and extra mode without those, but as a selectable mode not character specific.

What if i wanted to rush through the game as alucard without all the level ups, weapons, items, storyline and linearity? :P

So yeah, once you pick a character have an option [original] and [old school], each with their respective stuff for both characters.

Yeah, that would also be cool. Y'know what? While we're suggesting things, why don't I just bring up a random thought on my mind?? Why not have a castlevania where you can design the entire castle map, place the enemies, bosses, items, relics, powerups, abilities, and storyline, then play through it as anyone or anything you want? Wouldnt that rock?

Redrawn sprites for Richter, and a fleshed out storyline for him, including weapon/armor power-ups and a level-up system.

(With a completely new boss fight to end the game and show how he succumbs to Shaft's control...)

Sure, but I can't find myself doing it, unless I end up really bored (high probability) and it might take a lot of skills depending on how that works.

One thing I love about the metroidvania's though is going through the castle and discovering all the different areas. If I already knew the whole castle layout it wouldn't be as much fun well least in my case. :)

I'd think that kind of thing would work better for online stuff, being able to create&upload your castle for others to download and enjoy.

I'd make Al's appearance change when he changes equipment, make Richter's game more memorable, and make the Inverted Castle more like the first castle in that you have to get certain relics before you can get to all of it.

Dracula quoting the Bible after his defeat was awesome! Dracula was very religious before he became evil.

As for what I would change? The battle between Alucard and Dracula. It was a battle between father and son, it should have been a very personal and epic battle. However, Dracula just sat on his throne the whole time. Very disappointing compared to what could have been.

Like I said, I understand why Drac would quote the Bible, but it didn't fit the situation. Had it been a Belmont he was fighting, I'd have no problem with it.

Yes, Richter should've had his own story. I don't understand why IGA never aimed to do such a thing for him and Trevor in CoD. IGA kinda gave a story to DoS's Julius mode. Richter's adventure COULD'VE easliy been him exploring Castlevania's reappearance, 1796, leading up to his fall to Shaft's mind control. That would've been badass! And yeah, it would've been cool if he actually had a menu, and equipable whips.

Umm he doesn't in the japanese dub, I just beat it and there was no bible quote in there. He asks Alucard a question (retorical) instead, and says his situation is poetic.  :)

Same effect, I like the fact he quotes the bible, especially since hes supposed to be part of the crusade back way when.

I like it better w/out the quote personally as he is supposed to be against god and the quote in there makes it seems like he respects his or has some admiration which we know isn't true.

Dracula's being sarcastic, not reverant.  He even explicitly says so right before he quotes the Bible, hence "Ah...scarcasm..."  He took Alucard's previous words as sarcasm and so lashed back with a sarcastic remark of his own.  The point is that Dracula doesn't believe in what that Bible quote was saying.  By stating the opposite in a tone of sarcasm, Dracula is underscoring his actual beliefs.

Definitely would've increased the difficulty and dracula would have warped his cell into his normal castle Keep area, y'know keeping it normal. I didn't really care for the whole dracula on a floating throne, that should have been a painting somewhere in the castle or a statue.
