Feast your eyes and ears on this monstrosity. PC MS-DOS has never had such a butchered port as this...
Castlevania - PC MS-DOS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dM7uZ3imlyo#)
-
apart from the fucked music and sound effects it looks halfway decent.
-
I wish there was a like button for posts because that video is hilarious with the stupid music and sound effects xD
-
Ow my freaking ears!
-
I honestly was scared when the first notes of what supposed to Vampire Killer played.
Later I was highly amused. Graphics looks somewhat decent, but Simon look like CookieMan and sounds / music...the horror. Just the horror. :'(
-
Yeah, maybe with a better soundcard it would sound...better? Apart from the sound though, it looked pretty decent. I liked the little touch with Simon walking to the exit door after picking up the orb.

GAH F*CK MY DELICATE EARS OW
Also, that's a pretty long whip compared to the original. Then again, the stretching might have something to do with that.
-
I don't know, but the best port is obviously Tiger SotN.
BEEP
That's how The Tragic Prince sounds right?
-
Hit stop at 1:40. My ears... I think they're bleeding.
THIS GAME NEEDS MORE SOUND CHANNELS NOW!
-
Well, apparently, if you had a proper AdLib soundcard instead of the pc speaker, here's how it would have sounded:
Castlevania (DOS version) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahu5pq851Eo#)
-
That actually improves the sound by far! It reminds me of the Sega Master System or the Genesis (depending on the game you're playing).

Sounds like Genesis music. So, it's not that bad.
-
Just for comparison's sake, this is what it's trying to sound like. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYfgpodCVHE#)
Apologies, but turd not polished.
-
It also sound dissonant on some notes, even on the "good" version...
-
music: :o distorted.
-
That distorted version made me LOL so hard! The other version version, however, is quite decent. Thanks for sharing this.

That's what you got in those days when you weren't rich enough to afford a soundcard. They were a luxury back then for the PC. I should know, I had to put up with PC speaker for Commander Keen back in 92 or whenever. Not til about 95-6 did we manage to get a PC with an actual soundcard, as I recall it was a SoundBlaster Awe32. Doom was so much better.

I wanna hear Wicked Child on the AdLib
