Title: iPhone games
Post by: Lumi Kløvstad on February 23, 2012, 08:13:44 PM
While I know most of you aren't the biggest mobile phone gamers, certain titles on the iOS platform manage similar production qualities, I thought I'd share my list of recommended games on the iOS platform. Feel free to share your own.

Rainbow Six
NOVA
NOVA 2 HD
The Modern Combat Trilogy
Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes ~Encore~
imaginaryRange
Dead Space
Aralon HD
Mirror's Edge (actually much better than the main version)
Spider-man: Total Mayhem
Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles
The Sims FreePlay
Angel Rush

Note that these aren't posted in any particular order. They're all just games I happen to really enjoy.

Any games on the iOS platform you would recommend?

An updated version of Zombie Panic in Wonderland is coming to the iPhone, which pisses me off because I don't have one, but may have to get one just to play it. I love that game. Looooooove that game.

The only 2 games I've really wanted to play on the iOS were Double Dragon (until watching it on YouTube anyway) and Infinity Blade. But I bought a Droid X and assumed that a lot of stuff would be ported over to the Android marketplace.

Dammit.  :'(

All right, mofoz.

I got an iPhone today and just found out Zombie Panic in Wonderland is out.

My family just got an iPad.

If I purchase a game on the iPhone, can I go on the iPad, log into my Apple account, and download/play the game on there as well?

All's well. Logged into my account on my dad's iPad, bought the full game, and all those options are unlocked on my iPhone as well. What tripped me up, though, is the game's store screen has a "Restore" button in the upper right, but it's covered by a friggin' banner ad. (The game's free to download but it's very limited, gives you ads, etc.) I was freaking out wondering why my $12 purchase wasn't showing on my phone even though I'm using the same Apple ID. Thankfully saw the "Restore" button on the iPad and was able to click it on my iPhone after some fidgeting around.

Bah.

It's more fun on the iPad I'd say, just 'cos the screen's bigger and all. Although tilting the iPad to move left and right can get tiring on the wrist, though resting it on a leg and tilting it then seems to work well. But it's cool to be able to play it on my phone also.

:O:O:O:O:O:O:O

Time to go do some iOS gamin'. (In addition to Zombie Panic, I bought the two Ghosts'n Goblins games. Likely will be buying more, like Predators which looks pretty sweet. Man, havin' a smartphone after all these years is pretty kick-ass.)

Between emulators and iOS games, I probably do most of my gaming these days on my iPhone.

The game I play the most is Street Fighter 4 Volt, and while it is a slightly paired down version of SF4, it's still incredibly deep and most importantly has online multiplayer available. We have a pretty sizable community for the game over at the Touch Arcade forums and we've really dissected the game. If King Of Fighters-i had online multiplayer, I'd probably be playing that most of the time, but SF4V makes it worth keeping up with because you know you'll get to use those skills against people online.

Those two GnG games were pretty good. The first is definitely better, but the second is no slouch either. They're excellent iOS platformers!

Doc. Get Song Summoners. If there was ever love for the Tactical RPG genre in your heart, you will buy that game.

A number of Cave-developed shooters are available on iOS platforms. I'm thinking Mushihime-sama Futari/Bug Princess 2, Espgaluda II, Deathsmiles etc. I've heard good things of at least the vertical ones, and I'd say they all qualify as potential purchases if only for the novelty factor.

Well, if you want to ruin your touchscreen that is. Whoever thought that porting a fast-paced fighting game like KoF to a platform that only has a touchscreen as an input device was a good idea?
