Title: No Classic Sub weapons in LoS? And uh..some minor sub weapon tips :)
Post by: jestercolony on February 28, 2012, 12:00:31 AM
Interesting how I hear the "classic" sub weapons aren't in the game. Well, due to me being very bored I actually had taken time to actually spot what fans assume are missing... Let's do a recap shall we? ^_^ Oh, also - to experienced players or new players to LoS who really haven't had time to actually figure out the fighting system so far, I will give you a few tips as well - since I feel like being nice for once! (:

The Axe - ...See ending of the game to find out ;o

The Daggers - Obvious.  And honestly is the most under rated weapon in game. They aren't just excellent for Lycan creatures, but if used correctly can supply minor knock backs, which when inflicted on to an enemy with another direct attack (such as Flame Claw) can actually force them in to a knock down.

The Cross - Instead of being the boomerang weapon we have all come to adore and love, it has been in fact been implanted as a magical ability which blinds all enemies in an expanding coned radius.

Holy Water - Obvious. Not only does it allow a 360 degree radius of damage, but also provides knock downs to some based enemies and an automatic stun to Vampires.

Fairy - This is actually an interesting thing as I've seen some people go "Wtf?" O.o to this... If you remember correctly (Yes, I know this is a new time-line.) The Fairy is in fact the first familiar Hector (from CoD) learns to control and is one of the first familiars that Alucard will acquire in SoTN. This makes me kinda wonder (see below after Dark Crystal) Now, besides their charming way to make enemies suffer from ADD, Light Fairies aren't just suicide units, they actually work like this: Knock Down, Explode (Knock Down 2).

Dark Crystal - Now, I admit that I may be going a tad over it, but the Crystal has always been in the CV universe (since its introduction in Simon's Quest if I remember correctly.) This is also a combination of the Rosario which is an item that upon acquired will destroy all enemies on screen. But in this case, Gabriel is summoning a demon...

As mentioned with the fairy thing above, perhaps this is a clue? That the fairy and this demon are the first two actual monster's that he has dominion over and will perhaps have more later? This isn't some speculation from AoS or DoS, but this is just coming from the way that I view the overall story from my perspective.

The Stop Watch - Wait, wut? This isn't in the game! :O Actually, yeah it is - if you know what to look for and it is actually the Shadow magical based attack Ultimate Shadow! If you actually pay attention to Gabriel's cocky stance animation when he is twirling the whip around, listen to it carefully and you can actually make out the ticking of a clock, obviously it's not going in the direction we normally see a clock, but the reason to this, is that upon activating this stance, pay attention to all enemies that are around you as they will in fact move slower around you (an element found within some of the Stop Watches abilities to slow movement for certain enemies) and if upon a direct hit, you will actually stop time for a good 2-3 seconds to observe what the enemy.

Basically, in a sense - IF it is true we will be seeing more "Belmonts" later in this time line, I am more than likely going to assume that the "classic" sub weapons and of course the main weapon of choice to bring him down is used to mock him... But, if this topic is pointless, eh remove it - I was bored. :/

It always bothers me to see games having a soldier of God summoning Demons. Is invoking Angels really that taboo in games?

It is in this day and age. An edgy angel doesn't sell as much as a half demon pretty boy killing things with a guitar for great justice.

Great read! Didn't have idea about the Clock.

Still can't find the axe  :-\

You do have a sharp eye for such a detailed analysis.

It was not the cross originally. Before RoB it was always just the boomerang even-though it is shaped like a cross.

The Crystal always reminded me more of a nod towards the item crash. Most specifically Lament of Innocence, where you can Jewel crash to cause certain effects. The pose is pretty similar too.

The cross, more than the boomerang, reminds me of the Holy Cross attack, kind of like the one Julius does. Isn't it called Holy Cross too? I forget.

Given how Gabe is Dracula, his fire daggers while in shadow magic mode, could be a nod towards Dracula throwing fireballs.

Actually, The Dark Gauntlet as a whole seems to be a nod towards Dracula's fire based attacks.

The chainsaw attack, is obviously a nod to the circular whip swinging ability that most Belmonts have.

Only in the censored (overseas) versions. It was always the cross in the original Japanese versions.

Remind me where you saw an axe or something like it in LOS. I'm trying to remember seeing it in the ending but nothing is coming to mind.

Gabriel decapitated his wife with an axe.

....OOOOooooh. Wow, clever.

If the sub weapons are actually used in this fashion to mock Gabriel, that would make them REALLY interesting indeed.

I really wonder how many of those are actually intentional and how many are just coincidences.

I feel like it's just jester reading too much into things, but it's still quite brilliant.

Hah! Mayhaps (: I just feel with the over all story is interesting, the whole "God/Satan" thing come in to mind, especially when Gabriel plays out to become a martyr in the end that basically ends up being a huge threat to man kind. I mean, I'm a nerd and stuff and I've been a big fan of the series since I was a wee lad, especially since Dracula is probably one of my most favorite novel/film film characters. And I kinda see it in a tragic sense, the mockery, kinda like... How the number of the beast mocks the three kinda thing 'cuz if you really enjoy the story of some of the more decent films and of course the novel, certain things hurt him due to mockery, crosses, garlic, holy water, that kinda thing :)
