I saw that Kiyuhito posted on the Castlevania Wiki that Castlevania: The Adventure will appear on the virtual console in Japan on the 3DS on March 12.
Rejoice! And of course, hope a North American release isn't too far behind it.

They should release The Adventure Rebirth instead, but it's ok :D
-
I would be happy for the GBA or Rebirth, but the GB releases were too weak for me to play again
-
It is good news after a long time. I hope more Virtual Console Castlevania.
EDIT
*Topic: What is 3DS WiiWare? It's called Virtual Console.
-
Yay. An excellent opportunity to buy an old and terrible game - AGAIN! :)
I guess this is great news for some people and I respect that, but there's no way I'm ever paying for Castlevania Adventure again. Also, I agree that it should've been ReBirth, but I guess the original needs to be there or something. Maybe Belmont's Revenge will come out now, which is good. I would possibly pay for that even though I already have a cart. Maybe. I only like it because of the soundtrack, to be honest. And it's a better game than Adventure, but what game isn't?
-
Belmont's Revenge would be worth it to download. That one was actually a very good game. Or Adventure ReBirth.
-
ok... What's so exciting about this again? Oh right, nothing.
Just as much as if SotN was rererereleased as a download for the PSVita. Rejoice!
-
I love The Adventure with all my heart. Good news.
-
If Nintendo wants me to pay for Gameboy games that I already own (but my GB died), they can make them 3D like they did with the NES games. Why the hell would I pay $7 for a Gameboy game when I could get it for $2 at a used game store? Why pay $7 for an old, 2D black&white game that I could beat in one sitting when for the same price I could get a colorful, 3D game that's a popular classic (Kirby)?
-
^exactly. Not to mention The Adventure is one of the worst CV games, they already demo'd CV1 3D way back when the 3DS was still new (to positive reception if i recall), why not just release that instead? Makes no sense.
-
This is all part of Konami's masterplan to destroy the future of 2D Castlevania. Imagine all the new kids downloading this game after only playing LoS. They're gonna hate it and think that all 2D Castlevanias are like Adventure. "NEVAR MAEK A 2D CASTLEVANIA AGAIN CAUSE IT SUCKS!" they'll cry. And that's probably what Konami wants to hear. They don't wanna make a 2D platformer ever again. "Here! Play this old 2D Castlevania! Did you like it? No, we didn't think you would either! Now, quit your whining and let us get on with LoS 2, 3, 4 and 5."
-
Why not Belmont's Revenge instead? It's the superior game.
-
I have no intention of downloading this since i already have the physical cart on hand. That and I also play it on my computer emulator.
-
Ha-ha-ha...Way to go Konami...rereleasing one of the actually worst games in the series...
Next thing that they should do is to release Haunted Castle (Version K) on Wii. I imagine reaction of new gamers on this game!! ;D
-
I kind of like Adventure. I'm suprised that so many people here react so negatively to it.
-
The only two things in this game that good are graphics and music (to a certain extent). Gameplay is awful. Slowdown non-stop and collision issues. And all this is in the game which almost on 70% consist from platforming!! Which means making accurate jumps is very important thing, but it is hard to do because you can't calculate your speed due to the slowdown, little to no animation and sometimes wacky collisions. I said it already - it's as if game engine and actual level design were created separately from each other. It's really strange issue, but this game is just plain bad.
You can get used to it and even enjoy this game to some extent, but what for, when there are many other games in the series that did everything right?
P.S.
It is should be called "Castlevania: The Slowdown".
-
I love the music, I just...can't...HYEARGH THAT GAME.
-
What's the reasoning in putting this game out?
Konami is like conspiring against EVERYTHING it's making.
Really.
-
I assume because it's not really all that available, and because they put out Rebirth fairly recently. I don't think it's some sort of anti-2D conspiracy or anything.
-
i'd buy this "again" out of lazyness, i dont want to haul around my GBA and cartridge collection if i have my 3DS handy. i like to be able to play it on a whim.
plus, with an emulator and no password system, you can save your progress. doesn't this game get "harder" after every playthrough? see how far you can go.
of course, i prefer a castlevania game with all its trimmings, but i can appreciate a minimalist game.
-
I'd be more OK with Game Boy Virtual Console games if they didn't cost as much as they do and if you could get sharp graphics at full screen—but the only way to get sharp graphics is to play the games in their native resolution, which is really quite small on the 3DS screen.
That said, I'll buy awesome GB games I don't already own. But since I have the Adventure cart and can play it on a larger screen (my GBA SP+), I've no reason to get this. But I think it's super cool that Konami's releasing it. Can't see why people would be complaining about that.
And the game kicks ass, so all you ninnies...eat my sweaty butt crack. :o
-
And the game kicks ass
lol
-
All this talk about CVtA & CVtAR is inspiring me to consider making a GB style ReBirth when Theo's CV3 engine is complete.
-
Konami needs to quit with the 3ds, its bad enough they can't even do MGS3 right on it (low res and HORRIBLE frame rate) and now this shit?
I'll Just buy a Vita, download Dracula X chronicles and play it bilinear filtering because that's about as much enjoyment I'll ever get with konami's handhelds this gen.
-
What the hell is happening with that company? Jesus...
-

If you are apprecaite shitty games it doesn't mean that everyone around you should do the same.
Oh, and it's not neccessary to insult other people for their opinion.
And by the way, I already can complete this game without loosing a single life, but it doesn't make the game better. I just get used to it general shittiness.
-
Oh, no! A different opinion! TO ARMS, TO ARMS! HAVE AT YOU!
-
Oh, and it's not neccessary to insult other people for their opinion.
It's very necessary. :)
Because I'm always right. :o And you are all plebes who should do my bidding.
-
If growing up with my sister has taught me anything, it's that I am always wrong.
-
That's right. Know your place, Riduwhatever!
(And before Sumac gets all upset over these posts, I'm only ever clowning around. I don't seriously tell people to eat my sweaty crack when they disagree with me. I thought that was clearly quite comical...)
-

Do we all need to be reminded of this?
Castlevania Adventure GB Music: Battle of the Holy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3NtGrZ_RpQ#ws)
Yeah adventure is meh when it comes to the gameplay, but when it comes to music no gb game comes close to it.
-
Belmont's Revenge is obviously the superior game in every aspect, including music. They should just release both at the same time.
Why couldn't they just port Adventure ReBirth instead? Arghh..
-
Seiken Densetsu had better music. The final boss battle music is epic.
-
Oh, and it's not neccessary to insult other people for their opinion.
You do it all the time.
-

I've never understood why people like bilinear filtering. Makes everything look fuzzy. Even in 3D.

It amused me at least. But I have ever been the fan of your freaky antics. ;)
-
You do it all the time.
Not in so gruesome manner.
However, I find its strange that you allow some people to insult others while telling others to stop. Double standards? ;D
I'm only ever clowning around
There is different ways to "clowning around". Yours wasn't very funny.
-
How do you gruesomely insult someone? Do you tack on a 'yo momma is so fat' joke in the end for the perfect gruesome zinger?
Like, "Aria of Sorrow is "perfect"? Hah! It's so overrated. Also, yo Mama so fat her BMI is measured in acres!"

Higher there were a perfect example, I believe. 8)
-
Double standards? ;D
No, because anybody could see he was obviously just joking.
-
with The Adventure coming out, i'll entertain the idea that Konami may be nearing being ready to announce a new title for the 3DS. yeah. 8)

Would be fantastic if a new game for 3DS comes out this fall or winter.

I guess the improved color space is good.
Bilinear is more for playing a game at higher res than the game, it blurs the edges a bit so the overall picture looks better.
-
i suppose there'll be no way to play The Adventure in color like you could with a Gameboy Color or Gameboy Advanced? well, no big deal i guess.
