Back when we were nagging that Konami should do something for the 25th anniversary, we heard that they were going to do something but it wasn't exactly clear what. However, did anyone notice that it was actually confirmed at E3 that a game was in developement for the anniversary? :o

Perhaps that rumor about the Complete Chronicles is true after all...

nevermind

It'd be a bit late to celebrate, IMO. But who knows? Maybe it'll be announced someday.
-
Well, this sentence seems pretty definite to me:
Konami was questioned about it after E3 2011 one devoid of vampire hunters and the editor solemnly declared that a game was actually preparing to celebrate 25 years of Castlevania.
Then again, I hope the author isn't refering to that Rely on Horror article in which Konami delcared they were still uncertain on what to do. That would be really dumb.

The anniversary technically doesn't end until september 27th of this year. I also wouldn't mind if they decided to do something for it next year, like how FF4 got released for DS as part of the 20th anniversary in 2008.
-
It's possible they had something developed and pushed it back for some reason. Like maybe it was for Wii and they're waiting til Wii U is announced. E3 is coming soon
-
Not holding my breath, but it would be nice :)

For the love of God, Konami, make it multiplatform. I'm not buying a Vita for this.
Konami's likely response: SOMETIMES I CAN'T TELL DA DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FRUIT AND A VEGGEBLE. *huffs can of Drano*
-
If they do something it should definitely be multiplatform.
No one should be getting shafted into buying a vita or a 3ds or some shit.
-
Shafted? You can choose to not get the platform...or wait until the system has enough games worth buying it. With the way your post comes off as, it's like you want there to be no new platforms or anything.
-
Shafted? You can choose to not get the platform...
Yes but why should they have to choose NOT to get the platform?
Why not make it multiplatform for all the fans to enjoy?
Instead of having to go out and buy a certain system for a game you really want to play.
THAT is what I meant by getting "shafted".
And how did my post come off as me not wanting any new systems to come out?
I just conveyed that it should not be a single platform release thats all, I just do not want it to come out only for the 3DS or only for the Vita or only for the Wii or some shit.
-
Sounds incredibly fake, I wouldn't trust an obscure as hell website I've never heard of before for any sort of news.

I agree with this. The game needs to be for more then just one system. That way, it'll reach a far broader number of people then if just released for a single system. Not everyone has all the available platforms at their beck & call. Some can't even afford more then one. But by having one game delivered to all the different types of consoles out there Konami would easily rank in more of their profit while at the same time, catering to a mass audience. Two birds with one stone.

I think Sonic Generations should be the perfect example as to how a Castlevania anniversary game should be released.
It was released on the Xbox 360,PS3,PC, and 3DS.
multiplatform is just the way to go in my honest opinion.

The thing is the reason we don't get many multiplatform releases on the few platforms you cited (Wii, 3DS, Vita) is because they allow drastically different experiences due to a number of hardware decisions. Even Sonic Generations, a game you cited as a good example, is actually a different game on the 3DS than the other platforms. As for a multiplatform Castlevania game, the idea is good, but at this point I am pretty tired of all of these old machines. We're in an HD era and these platforms are barely able to actually render games at HD resolutions (most games are infact upscaled to 720p). I'd like for a game to take advantage of the hardware, and outside of the PC, all of the home platforms are now archaic in terms of hardware. Outside of the inevitable Lords of Shadow 2 (assuming it's coming out this generation) I'd like to see a Castlevania game on an eighth generation platform.
The only way we get exclusives now is if a game is tailor made to a particular platform, or a version of a multiplatform release is drastically different than other versions. The only way we'd get a Castlevania game exclusive to one platform is if it's tailored to that platform (we've had this for most of the releases in the franchise) or a console manufacturer has a deal on it. Unless a Castlevania game is specifically made for the 3DS or the Vita, I'm sure it'll be a multiplatform game from here on out. These machines are very similar in design that experiences are not drastically different like the MD/SNES days.

Ditto. I'd like to believe the rumor, but we've all went through this before. I'd like to see this happen (even in light of the quality of the Silent Hill Collection), but I'm not holding my breath.
As for the Vita, I see where everyone is coming from on that one, but personally I wouldn't mind a Vita release, even an exclusive. I think the hardware looks awesome, but I'm still waiting for a game or two that convinces me to buy the thing. Castlevania would be perfect for that.

Still waiting on that inevitable Symphony of the Night port where they HD-ify all the sprites a la Alucard in Encore of the Night, and do the same thing with the backgrounds.
Be nice if they could release a set with that, and similar HD ports of Super Castlevania IV, Bloodlines, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria.
That set alone would make me cry manly tears of Castle-love-ya.
I know. I know. Awful attempt at pun is awful.

You want more of this smudgy shit? None of it looks good in any way. It'd be an enormous disservice to the finely-crafted visuals of the games you mentioned.
-
Is that from the iphone game? That looks atrocious.
-
Yep. I don't know why they called it Encore of the Night, since it's definitely not representative of the quality of spritework Symphony is known and beloved for.
-
It's the same sprites, just less pixelated.
And I agree, in Encore it came off badly, but I honestly think it could be done appropriately given a budget and a team who honestly gives a fuck.
-

Is it? Because it looks more like someone took the original Alucard sprite and airbrushed a hasty duplication in an unfortunate effort to "contemporize" the sprite art. It's a misshapen blob as a result. Death there looks like he just suffered a case of the obnoxious smoothening filters, as per usual, but Alucard looks decidedly like a cheap reproduction.
Not that it matters much, since messing around with the presentation of crisp pixel art in any fashion always spells disaster for those misguided enough to attempt it.
-
Again, in Encore, everything was all done just to grab a quick buck. Imagine a game in which that was done by a team who actually CARED.
-
My argument is that it's a fundamentally flawed practice. Let old games look like old games; they look far better that way.

To be honest, I think I'd rather just have a new game. Like Symphony of the Night 2, or a half-Metroidvania half-Classicvania staring a Belmont
