Title: The sad waltz remix of Divine Bloodlines should be mainstream
Post by: Super Waffle on April 19, 2012, 08:19:10 AM
Castlevania Dracula X OST: Staff Roll (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihdFHPhuYac#)

Search your feelings.  You know it to be true.

Seriously, why was this song only limited to the sorta-kinda-arguably weakest entry in the (conventional platforming portion of the) entire franchise and never used again?  It's like the Angela of Castlevania music.

If anything, Jorge's already covered it.

Technically, that version is Tango, not Waltz.
And yeah I covered it.  I think I did Ok at it, but not greatly.
Staff Roll - Ending Theme - Castlevania: DraculaXX (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y579LUnkWbg#)

Here's a Tango you may have heard of (True Lies):
True Lies - Tango (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ydRwCf9Qyw#ws)

A more fancy version of the Divine Bloodlines Tango is in Castlevania 64 and it does an even better job (with a true violinist, from what the credits say):
Castlevania 64 Title Theme (Divine Bloodlines) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnVa8qXlHSU#ws)

It really is a great rendition.

It will always be Sad Waltz Remix to me.

The CV64 title screen music becomes a Piano Waltz at 1:25. :)
Scroll to it. :D

Of all "classicvania" tracks "(Divine) Bloodlines" always strike me as the melody with the most diverse covers in the series. We have amazing original, slow "tango" version, even more slower viloin version, electronic fast version and hymn-like version in CV Arcade.
I don't think that Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears have been remade into something so different from original versions.

This "tango" version form CVDX sounds ingame as if it was played on the bagpipes. Actually I really'd like to hear someone trying to perform this version on the real bagpipes.

How is the melody in the beginning called? With Dracula's 3d castle rolling in?

That melody is called "Sign of a Blood Pulse".
It's in Castlevania 64's intro as well as Circle of the Moon's intro.

Weakest? WTF?

Underwhelming port of PCE game on a system that already had Super Castlevania IV (probably the strongest of the original style Castlevania games).

That's pretty weaksauce, bro.

And yes.  Feed me all of your -1s.

Since I don't consider it as a port, I don't see any neccessity to compare this game to ROB. And by the way, I don't consider ROB all that great.

I am not playing this stupid "minus" games. Leave it to pathetic fanboys and children; I give only pluses.

Dracula X is a pretty weak version of Rondo. Rondo just has better Levels and music IMO. And the difficulty is a bit more balanced.

I WOULD give props to Dracula X for a pretty interesting Dracula fight, what with the bottomless pits, if it werent a real dick move due to how you get knocked right the fuck off a platform when taking a hit in the wrong spot.

What would you even call it anyway? it's not a port... Well, it's like, half port, half original game... we COULD call it a de-make, since it has inferior qualities to it due to not being a CD based game like Rondo.

No seriously though, what do you call a game like Dracula X?

I loved Dracula X it was my first CV game, but it doesn't hold a candle to ROB. I feel its movement very fluid though.

And I agree, I've always been a fan of the Tango Divine Bloodlines, best version of the song (Just can't stand the original upbeat one)

It's just another version of the story.  So a 're-imagining', I suppose.  The same way that Vampire Killer, Haunted Castle, Super Castlevania 4, and Castlevania Chronicles are other versions of Castlevania 1, or the way "The Castlevania Adventure Rebirth" is a re-imagining of CVA, while being basically completly different.

The Dracula X Chronicles, however, is a re-make of Rondo, with added content.
