It's so nice to know that in Ayami Kojami's original production sketches for SotN, our little Maria was going to grow up to become a beautiful man.
-
I actually would've preferred this type of take on Maria. The actual design we got is still designed better in terms of aesthetics though.
-
No, I think this version has a better aesthetic design
...assuming she moved to America, changed her name to Mordred, and joined a glam metal band called MediEvil Bloodbath.
-
Reminds me of Alucard...
-
You know, we could always salvage the design and turn it into another character, maybe an OC for a fangame.
-
Her light pink outfit in that image is reminiscent of what she had back in Rondo. But I don't see her as a swordswoman since she only ever relied on magical animals. And maybe Ayami Kojami felt that a different coloration for Maria would better suit SotN's overall atmosphere. I would say that the final Maria image is better as this one looks like it would clash with or eclipse Alucard's design somewhat.
-
She's manlier than Alucard :P
-
His(or her?) outfit looks similar to Juste's.
-
Bustline not visible enough for ya?
-
Ah, I see it now... That I have downloaded the picture.
My crappy browser doesn't show me that "bustline".
-
She looks manlier than a lot of other men characters lol
-
hmmmm...isn't she looks like more than 17 years old ?
-
I like how this design also uses the color pink prominently just like Maria's appearance in Rondo. She looks pretty cool. Wouldn't be a bad design for a female vampire hunter character.
-
Charlotte and Alucard take on Dracula together...
En garde!

This is a great pic. Much better in my opinion...? Well let's just say better... ... Very sexy... except that if you zoom in to much, her upper lip looks like a... well, manly. ;D
It's sad, I always end up preferring a lot of beta stuff more. ... Yet it's sad that most people complain about rushed games too, myself included. >_> But sometimes when a game or movie or song or whatever gets refined too much, it can led to worse or much worse? Same with games (after all, some really top games have been rushed. ie. Mega Man 3, my fav in the reg series... Castlevania Bloodlines. Dang that Blimp level looked freakin' awesome!!!! Too bad if the beta ever gets dumped it'd probably be devoid of any enemies just like at least two level sections in the not so late Euro beta :(... Otherwise all the refinements made to Bloodlines, enemy placement, difficulty balance, etc, ended up better with each later release. Thus the US version being the best) So because of this, I'm always a fan of more spontaneous stuff... learned this when I learned to play guitar. As in music with the stuff that comes out of me on the spot. ie. guitar solo's. And it has been proven in the music industry too. Mr.Crawly by Randy Rhodes, Eruption by Van Halen, etc, etc.. Proving the best guitar solo's are done on the spot. You can't force/refine excellent creativity.

She looks a bit too much like Juste.
Though the costume is cool. I think it would be a nice redesign for the Sonia Belmont or other female vampire hunter. I am not really sure if this particular appearance would have worked in SOTN, since this Maria is too similar to Alucard in a way.

The close up is okay but her outfit is basically a pink male suit, I still don't like much her outfit in the game but it's definitely more acceptable than this one
-
She's manly, IMO. I don't mean in a goofy 'manlier than Alucard' way or 'manly for Kojima,' but just plain manly, IMO. The contours of her face and the shape of her eyes are very masculine. v-v
