it came to my mind that the demon castle wars event will take a great place in the series to be called Catlevania V using the classicvania gameplay style with some upgraded stuffs like unlocking "fire , thunder , ice and poison whip" to break some firewalls , icewalls and greenwalls using the right whip plus adding the option to explore the previous stages like in rondo , man that will be a dream of life especially if they added 2 playable characters Julius & Alucard awwwwwww that will be so sick man !!! can this dream come true or its just a dream will stay in my head and forever ?
*sigh* until when we'll keep dreaming can't they hear us fans for once ?!

I'll take Belmont's Revenge ReBirth instead o.o;
And technically there was no numbering system for Castlevania in Japan.
and not to nitpick but why do people keep calling it the demon castle WARS? It was one event, singular not plural. Do you ever hear people say the Vietnam Wars?

Bro its just an ideas , some kind of analysis and wishes since it got mentioned as a big event happened in 1999 its just unfair to not see the end of dracula ... but we heard about it

Any kind of new Classicvania would be appreciated. I would take a game with Sonia Belmont brought into canon or a ReBirth sequel.

I'm ok with ReBirth games since if it will get something longer and bigger than advanture rebirth cuz i really enjoyed this game but i have finished it within 5 hours wth !!
i know its a wii ware game but it deserve more than that come what happened to castlevania why most of the games are releasing digitaly !! and poorly created like HD and ReBirth

Agreed, I've been waiting for that for a while.

My idea of Castlevania V would undoubtedly be the 1999 game. I know a lot of people would expect a MetroidVania instead, but Julius should get his own ClassicVania that combines the very best elements of all of the original games.
More characters to play as from Dracula's Curse and Bloodlines like Julius, Yoko, and Alucard, IV's whip swinging and semi directional whipping like Bloodlines and Chronicles, Rondo of Blood's item crashes and multiple routes to take, etc.

old johnathan will be a badass !!

I'm definitely up for a new Classicvania.
But not for the battle of 1999 game.
With a game of that scope and considering all the things that supposedly happened during that time (Julius fighting alongside Belnades,Alucard, and Hakubos) and also the whole "Soldiers" fighting and being preset during that time, I just think that a metroidvania style would be the way to go.
But in 2.5D of course, just to eliminate the "reusing sprites" complaint that has plagued recent 2.D castlevania titles.

Mix all of them together and make the classicvania game also bring back a danasty and some special konami guest like ryukotsuki and a descendant of Fuma and neclord from suikoden yeah with little extras like this all will be perfect.

I'd actually love a merging of the ClassicVania and MetroidVania. It's an idea I had, where you can play it linear, stage based, until the final battle with Dracula, but also give you freedom that, when you begin a new stage, you can exit through a door where you start, and retread through previous levels to find alternate paths(stages). All together, the castle, in it's entirety, would have 4 or 5 alternate paths(each with a number of unique stages) than the default one, taking you through different stages and different bosses, all leading up to the Castle Keep(or the Clock Tower, where you fight Death).

Wow, that actually sounds like a pretty good compromise to the choice of metroidvania or classicvania.
Being able to traverse linear levels complete with classic pit falls and great platforming while being able to turn around and go back to levels and find alternate paths seems like a great way to blend the 2 together to please all in my opinion.
I also would like for the "rpg" system to return, but instead of being able to grind and level up the character you instead have to find upgrades to your abilities akin to the original Super Metroid title such as heath increases, attack increases, defense increases etc, and of course, new weapons.
I would love for the 1999 game to play like that.

This really does sound like such a great idea. It sound like a great blend of Dracula X (though more advance so to speak) with the backtracking ability of the MetroidVania titles.

Wasn't SOTN at some point of development called "Castleania 5"?
Anyway, release of the game under that name would an interesting idea. However, if this game will be created, I believe it should be "calssicvania" with simple plot and simple gameplay. Maybe in the vein of SCV4.

Never ... it has been always called : SOTN , NITM , Or dracula X it has been never called castlevania V or 5
-
Rondo is called Dracula X because it's the tenth game in the franchise. (excluding the Kid Dracula games) And Symphony is the direct follow up to Dracula X. Why would they call it 5?
Not to mention, again, there was never really a numbering system in Japan.

An American (I believe) game magazine had published a preview article on SNES Dracula X, which it had said was Castlevania 5. Whether this was a tentative USA release title, or just a fabrication/presumption by this journalist, I don't know. In the end the game released with Dracula X in the USA, and Dracula XX in Japan, with no number associated with it. It would have been the fifth main stream console release for this franchise however, so the confusion is fairly well understood if it was such.
-
I thought SotN was originally the Bloodletting?
-
That was an entirely different game. Only some sprite animations were recycled for SotN.

Thanks for clearing this up.

Except that the SNES Dracula X came out a year after Bloodlines and I'd always thought that Bloodlines was Castlevania 5.

Castlevania
Vampire Killer
Castlevania II
Haunted Castle
Castlevania Adventure
Castlevania III
Belmont's Revenge
Super Castlevania IV
Akumajou Dracula
Rondo Of Blood
Yup, if you ignore Kid Dracula, then that's the most logical explanation. The XX is only for the SNES version and denotes that it's not the original Dracula X (aka Rondo Of Blood). Bloodlines then came after Rondo, so it would be Castlevania XI technically. SOTN would be Castlevania XII. And the honor of unlucky 13th title goes to Castlevania Legends. :-X
-
Now that you've mentioned it, why didn't they call the SNES version Dracula X' instead? It is a derivative of the original Dracula X, and the extra X would imply that it's completely superior to the original, when it was in fact a stripped-down version.

Because Rondo is already "Dracula X" in japan.
It's Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo.
it would be confusing if they released ANOTHER "Akumajo Dracula X" so instead they just got creative and named it XX instead. (So would the chronicles remake technically be XXX?)
-
Do note that there's a dash symbol in the title to denote that it's a derivative. I got the idea from K''s name and the fact that while he has very little in common with Kyo, he's still essentially Kyo's derivative (not an exact clone, but a person altered with Kyo's DNA) in the KoF series.
-
The dash as derivative is common in Japanese it seems. Even the alternate stages in Rondo are named Level 5' Level 2' etc for example.
Perhaps even Megaman Legends ("Rockman DASH" in japan) is a pun title on this.
-
Isnt Dash an acronym for Digouter's Adventure Story in Halcyon Days?
although it would make sense if it was a pun on that regardless.
-
Uhm... I was under the impression that Rondo in Japan was called Dracula X because it was the tenth game in the Akumajou Dracula series.
So a potential Castlevania V at this point would have a redundant title, wouldn't it?
1. Castlevania/Akumajou Dracula
2. Vampire Killer/Akumajou Dracula
3. Castlevania II: Simon's Quest/Dracula II: Noroi no Fuin
4. Haunted Castle/Akumajou Dracula
5. Castlevania: The Adventure/Dracula Densetsu
6. Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse/Akumajou Densetsu
7. Super Castlevania IV/Akumajou Dracula
8. Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge/Dracula Densetsu II
9. Akumajou Dracula X68000 (released later as Chronicles on PSone)
10. Castlevania: Rondo of Blood/Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo
While a majority of those are remakes, and it still stands that Rondo was the tenth game in the series, thus leading to the X, which is (as you all know) Roman numeral for ten.
-
Yeah thats why it was X.
though for the US, since it didnt HAVE that- since Vampire killer was only JP and EU, and X68000 game didnt come out here till Chronicles- the X title probably ended up sounding more like "YEAH ADDING X ONTO THINGS IS COOL, LIKE MEGA MAN X"
for the US, Dracula X would have been... the 8th game?
not to mention the US followed it's own numbering system for em.

Yeah, I see you already pointed this out before I did. I completely missed the second page here.

If they do a new Classisvania game, make it a downloadable fun thing, like Adventure ReBirth. (Bloodlines ReBirth would be awesome)

Bloodlines Rebirth would make me jizz in my pants.
As long as it isn't like Adventure Rebirth in how it entirely changed the game (whereas it could have passed off as in entirely new game). Don't get me wrong, I like how Adventure Rebirth turned out, but I hope they remake the stuff from the original, but then expand upon it. Make the too short stages longer, the too long stages shorter, fix some of the enemy placement, add new features, etc. Hell, even as a 2.5D game like DXC would be cool, so we could have alternate costumes and all those other little goodies that make most 3D games fun.
But a guy can dream. >_>

Yeah this was my beef with Adventure: ReBirth. The game design strayed way too far from the original. Had they kept the original four stages and bosses while adding to it the newer stages and bosses we see in Rebirth, and keeping the original music though updated as well, the game would've absolutely rocked!
