What a shame. Why would anyone even do that? There's absolutely no gain whatsoever, it's just pointless cruelty. ~_~

Exactly right. There's no way the culprit can use or sell the hide as it is rare to the point of them easily being identified as the culprit should they ever take their illegal wears to to town to sell 'em (let alone display it in their house). But the one thing the public needs to realize (and the continue to make this mistake) is that these animals aren't Buffalo, they are Bison.

Their meat is similar to each other if they are raised as livestock.
BTW bison/buffalo meat is leaner than beef and better for you. 8)

One in a million wow and someone just killed the baby and the mother. But one question if the animal was so rare would it not be put under special care or something and be protected by well things like this?

It's in the genealogy. Bison Are in the Americas while the buffalo, like the water buffalo in Australia exist in other parts of the world.
