Topic. But just to drive some discussion, are there any particular weapons, armors, accessories, etc --that you're really fond of? I always thought it was genius how the the Alucart equipment provided an additional luck bonus when equipped as a set. I'd like to see more equipment sets like that yielding similar bonuses --I'm shocked none of the other Castleroids have capitalized on the idea, actually...

Keeping equipment basic is best option.
I don't like picking up a new armor piece and having to recalculate and rebalance my whole equipped set, which is what we got into in the DSvanias.
-
Option 2.
I don't like it being too over the top, but it's nice to be able to have some minor control over stats, though. Something like CotM's DSS, where you can give the whip different elements or boost certain stats or in HoD, where Juste can equip different tips on the whip to modify its damage or alter his stats. SotN's sword and shield combos are great as well.
-
Option 1. All I want is at least 3 or so sub-weapons. So no more the 5, no less then 2.
I'm not into RPG leveling up either. enough difficulty levels should be enough to please everybody.
-
be it with physics and default ability or various ways to adjust to obstacles, either works. i don't want to be boring and be in the middle ground or anything, but i wanted to point out possibilities within the options.

I can understand why the hardcore fans want the simple nature of castlevania to return but I never understand how anyone could dislike more options.
Collecting items, weapons, shields, cloaks ( changing your appearance) added soooo much replayability, and was just a joy to see which each weapon could do ( vbisually or in other terms)..
I like classic castlevania games but there's something to be said about the experimentation/search and find nature of the newer games.

You havent been here in a while, cecil!
on the topic:
I dont mind the metroidvania way, but i like the classicvania way too. im indifferent, and open minded about the way customization and gear works

Personally, I think equipments should focus less on stat boosts and more on additional effects like Winged Boots' speed increase, so that every one of them have their own uses and don't get obsoleted so quickly.

That's actually a good idea, but they'd have to be creative with weapons then. I like being able to get different swords and such...

I like that idea too. It could help to lessen the inventory space too.

I'll go with the second option. I like to have some equipment variety and power up items for raising the stats. LoI is a good example of this one, while most of the metroidvanias, are overflowed with crappy equipment/items.
-
I'm in love with CoD's forging stuff + steal materials from enemies. It's just awesome IMO. (Safe for one or two awfully-hard weapons to get, or the "gag" items).

No.2. I agree about LoI. That game's mechanics were pretty close to spot on. The movement and attacking wer maybe a bit more complex than need be, but I loved the Relics. Find a crystal, apply its power to your Relics, but at the heart of it all you still just had your whip. If you wanted, you could apply an elemental to it after beating the corresponding miniboss. That was great. Maybe the game overall sucked but the Crystals system was good.

Deadlock. It looks like we haven't made up our minds on this one.... Hmm...
