And yet people will still blindly gobble it up. More power to them, but it won't save Bioware from sinking, not after the flop that was SW:ToR

I really enjoyed the first 2 Mass Effect games, but don't think I'll get the 3rd one even if they somehow fix it. Don't see how they can fix it really, I mean come on...

Tali's face is a lazily photoshopped royalty free image. Really? Really guys? Couldn't you have given one of the many talented artists who worked on these games 5 minutes to draw something better? I've seen the artbook, I know you've already got better designs you could have pasted in there.
Or how about this, actually render the damn face in game since you had been building up to that all this time.

I'm just glad I'd only gotten into the series when I bought the games on the last Christmas sale. If I had been a fan since 2007 I wouldn't just be disappointed, I'd be pissed. Though I guess that's the same result since I'm sworn off EA and Bioware products now, since the difference between them seems to be increasingly non-existant.

TBH, I'm of the opinion the last thing they did of any note was Dragon Age: Origins. They screwed that up with DA2.

I relatively enjoyed DA2. The mobs were annoying but combat felt pretty good. Story sucked ass, but I thought the same of Origins.

And Ratty, You should get ME3, even if not legally. The ending sucked, this is true, but Most of the game was pretty damn awesome. I was having a great deal of fun, it wasn't until the end that my excitement went from on top of a mountain to the pits of hell.

Ehh the only way I can see myself getting 3 is if it's released in like "a complete trilogy pack!" in 10 or 15 years for less than $20 (or the equivalent with inflation) I don't feel like giving EA or Bioware any of my money and I don't pirate.

I had some friends who really liked DA1 and had to buy DA2 twice because the disc broke, they were so pissed when they found out how short and shitty DA2 was. :/

Everyone in my town refers to Mass Effect 3 as the greatest game to ever hit the shelves. They're telling me all the time "DOOD U MUST PLAY IT IT IS AWESOME". So I tried it out.

I was not impressed. The gameplay, to me, felt so sloppy and unpolished. The character motion was bad, some of the graphics (usually not a big factor to me) needed a LOT of work (seriously, Shepard's feet were like really really small), and the cover system needed work.

I do expect a bit much from game companies sometimes. Bioware, especially, after their masterpiece that was Knights of the Old Republic.

The masses do that with every over-hyped AAA title that comes out. Hilariously enough, most of them haven't even played the first two. Just wait until Call of Dead Space 3 comes out and see how much they praise that one despite never played the first two.

The gameplay in the series has always just been mediocre for the time of release, it's the writing and acting that are the real draw. Which is why them messing up parts of the story so badly is such a deal breaker. It was just a total joke that EA tried so hard to get people to hop on board on the LAST GAME in the trilogy. Who does that? Who starts a book on the last chapter? Or comes in to watch the last 30 minutes of a movie? Starting in the third Mass Effect would be exactly that kind of experience, I don't care how much they made Prince Jr. an automated exposition machine.

The story of Mass Effect 3 didn't draw me in. The beginning cutscenes, for example, were a snoozefest. I can't really speak for the later parts of the game, however.

Yeah that's because you were just finding out what was going on, weren't invested in any of the characters or events etc. Like I said, it would be like watching just the last 30 minutes of a movie or reading the last chapter of a book. You'll not be invested in what's going on or care about any of the characters.

That's why I find it hilarious that Mass Effect 3 will be the FIRST (and probably only) Mass Effect game on the WiiU. It was bad enough that the PS3 had Mass Effect 2, but not 1. In Mass Effect they encourage you to import your character from previous games, the one that you've done all this adventuring with, so that there is continuity with the complex decisions you've made between the games. Releasing only the latest title REALLY takes away from the experience.

Yeah really. They'll probably have another one of those 15 minute virtual comic books to let you make key-decisions from the previous games. But that's no substitute for basically getting to know these characters over a 60 - 120 hour period before playing the finale. And that time estimate is assuming you only played through the first 2 games once. It's a shame about that ending ruining it all. Mass Effect always brought Farscape to mind, which is a very high compliment in my opinion.

Dunno, I still think "Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines" was better even if more contained and not as visually grand. Guess the next big cRPG I play will be Planescape: Torment as I've been in a big D&D mood lately. And it seems more interesting than the Baldur's Gate series which are the games that made Bioware famous before Knights.

The thing is, though, most franchises I get in to, I don't start off from the first game. The first Halo title I played was Halo 2, and I had no idea who the hell Master Chief was supposed to be at the point. The fact is, the story managed to draw me in enough to give a damn about the characters, and then I went back and played the first one. That isn't the only series that I did that with either (Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Devil May Cry, etc.)

Mass Effect just didn't cut it for me.

Up to you, I won't say the story was OMG OMG OMG great. But it was okay, until the aforementioned ending. What made it something I'd recommend was the fact that you seemed to do pretty epic things in the game. The war setting also made it that much better as well. The first 2 reaper battles, imo was amazing. I was extremely disappointed by the "choice" or lack thereof, but I wasn't really expecting them to pull through like most other fan but they managed to keep me entertained.

On another note, I was extremely sad that there were no Thresher Maws in space. I recall seeing that scene when they were showing the trailers of it's announcement. And the lack of it was a pretty big downer.

I also enjoyed the gameplay. It was rather fluid for the most part, and I don't think it failed there. The customization of weapons was a great add on, though it isn't as awesome as it could've been. But most games aren't. If it failed anywhere, it's the customization. Not because it's bad, but because it's limited.

Ugh, don't mention Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. I personally think it as possibly one of the greatest games ever. True, it would've been even better had they more money/time, but man, it was a masterpiece after the kinks and dents were hammered out. So bringing it up, is just plain unfair.

Just wanted to revive this topic..... since I've just recently watched the "Extended Cuts" and the Indoctrination Theory.

The Indoctrination Theory is...... to say the least.... Incredible. It is well thought out, and I didn't find anything that seemed off in it at all. Furthermore, watching the Extended Cuts, which some people might think is a bigger PoS than the original endings because it seems to be made to destroy the Indoctrination Theory... I think it further implies the Indoctrination Theory as true, in a subtle way.

The 3 endings, all have long pointless dialogues saying this is how it turns out, blah blah blah. But the Destroy Ending has all of that, even showing Shepard being "dead" with his abandon helmet and his name being plastered on the wall for remembrance of those who fell. But at the near end, right before the legend story telling bull crap that was one of my reasons for hating the ending, it shows Shepard's chest rise to show that's he's alive. So to me... it basically points to the fact that everything happened in a "This is what happens because you chose this" indoctrination sequence.

Now this doesn't make me excuse Bioware or EA. In fact it sort of condemns them both even more. Bioware for whoring out and bending over to money over creativity, and EA for slapping the ass it's already riding.

I mean, this could have been just one of the best stories I've ever played. It's true that the characters in ME3 were less interesting and the story is linear, but it was good none the less.
