... Is a fantastic film. Seriously, it's a cinematic masterpiece that deserves do much more recognition.
I can frankly say it's one of the best films I watched. Being a movie made in 1981 in West Germany, it's extraordinary. Whether you're a fan of world war II movies or not, watch it. The movie goes far beyond the context of the war.

The film tells the story of a crew aboard a German U-boat submarine, as they are sent on a dangerous mission and face the gruesome reality of war. What did it for me is the way the movie presents the German sailors as the protagonists, making it impossible for the viewer not to sympathize them, even though they are supposed to be "the bad guys".
At the end, I cannot help but once again draw the conclusion that "there are bad wars, but no bad soldiers".

Das Boner
(I've never seen the film and noticed nobody replied, so there ya have it)
A movie I've always intended to see but have yet to get around to it.
I hate it when people talk to me about it, though, and pronounce "Boot" like the English word.

One of my favorites.
