Title: General Food Topic
Post by: Highwind Dragoon on July 03, 2012, 04:14:23 PM
This topic is all about food.

As for my favorite food, It would have to be home made pizza bagels.

I have lots of different foods that I like so it'd be a long list if I were to put it up here, so I'll just shorten it.

I likes my Kimchi noodlebowls, microwavable frozen Indian Cuisine, Swanson TV dinners (grew up with these  ;D), Fresh Japanese Cuisine, Chinese cooking. This'll do me fine for now.

asparagus, zucchini, squash, collard greens, brussel sprouts--I love to cook veggies too, apparently that's rare.

I love asian and indian food too. Sushi, tempura anything, eel anything, korean bbq, all manner of miso and ramen. curry, naan, daal.../drool

I've had A&W's burgers and Onion rings. The burgers are good I'll give you that, but the onion rings from DQ were a staple of my childhood so anything other cannot compare  ;)

Im a sucker for gyros, popeyes gravy, wendys chili and white castle. You probably think Im about 400 pounds but I hardly eat fast food at all...but it is without a doubt my favorite. If it tastes good, its probably not good for you.

I really want to make baked spaghetti for dinner, but if I turn on the oven, it'll heat up the whole house.  :( :( :(

Well I have a weak stomach so I don't like spicy food, greasy food, not a big fan of most fishes either.

I make vegetable stew all the time and I like my vegetables boiled too, specially carrots. Baked potatoes and sweet potatoes, tomatoes, breaded-beef steak, turnovers with meat or ham and cheese filling, tuna salad, ice cream, pears, love raspberries, milk jam and anything sweet I can eat with a good tea.

I have the great honor and privilege of having both New Jersey and New York readily accessible.

As such, I am fond of most of Jersey's little dives and locations, such as:
The feudin' Mana's (White Mana in Hackensack, White Manna in Jersey City), with awesome Sliders (mini-burgers).
Today a good friend of mine and I went to Hiram's, a hot dog joint in Fort Lee.  And Rutt's Hut is pretty awesome as well.
And in NYC, there are countless locations.  My fave bar has a pretty mean burger served with steak fries for just $6.  Great!

Eric Roman went there for my birthday.  It was rockin'.

As for my favorite food?  STEAK!  A nice medium Steak is awesomesauce.

Did you ever have the insanely well-done deep fried hot dog?

You know, the one that pretty much has the texture consistency of a pretzel?

You mean a corn dog? Those are pretty good.

No he means a deep-fried hot dog, where the skin has been textured by the oil.
Rutt's Hut in NJ has 'em.  They call 'em "Rippers" since sometimes the skin rips and tears from the hot oil.
Hiram's has 'em as well.

Very crunchy outside, tender inside.

I heard that you have to sign a medical-release form before buying one.

I saw it on the travel channel, the hot dog was split it's entire length in several places and looked like a husk.  :o :o :o

Depends if the slice it along the top prior to frying.
And on the time spent in the fryer.  It's no big deal, no need for a medical release form.  It's a 'sometimes' food.

In Rutt's Hut they have different names for them depending on what level of 'rip' you want.
If you want 'em as a true 'ripper', they will fry them until they split.
If you want them with barely any fry wrinkles, you ask for an 'in 'n outer'.
And if you want the outside like a pretzel shell, you ask for a 'cremator', which has the outside absolutely crisped up.

They're pretty great.

Yeah, the cremator was the one that I was thinking of.

Also, my favorite regional pizza chain (favorite national is papa murphy's): Topper's pizza: http://www.toppers.com/#/intro/ (http://www.toppers.com/#/intro/)

Jealous, Jorge? :P

I'm an admin for the Castlevania Dungeon Forums.
So of course I drink.  :P

Pizza?  I've got Lombardi's in the city, and a few pretty decent places near where I live.
I'm good. :)

Come to Milwaukee, Jorge, the beer is cheaper and flows like water in the bars along water st. and Brady st.

Also, Lewis black explains more:

Milwaukee also has several good places for fish fries and many good local burger places like Solbelman's and A.J. Bomber's.

No offense, but there isn't an amount of booze big enough to convince me to move to Wisconsin. :P :P :P

I didn't say move to, I said come to Milwaukee.

Big difference there.

Wish I could have a chicago style hot dog and garlic-rosemary fries for dinner from Dr. Dawg down in glendale. (WI, not AZ)

I don't know much about American food. All I know is what I heard from others. And what I did hear is that most beers taste like piss (when compared in quality to European ones). Also I heard about this place called Heart Attack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_Attack_Grill) which is a horrible, horrible pun about the quality of fast food. Oh well.

Most commercialized 'big brand' beers are lacking in taste.

Case in point, I'm not at all fond of Budweiser, Coors, or Miller.

I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer non-USA brews or microbrews.

Hmm, my favorite cheeses for sandwiches and subs are provolone, Colby jack, sharp cheddar and Muenster.  8)

I've had a breakfast sandwhich that used a croissant instead of biscuits. It was pretty great.
