Hello,
New to forum, but have played Castlevania since the 80's!
Does anyone know who is credited with inventing the original Castlevania? (not the silly credits at the end from Hammer films!) Are there any interviews with him or her?
thanks

No, it is a mystery.
The only person we know who has worked on it is the composer Kinuyo Yamashita. Someone interviewed IGA about it but he said he was not allowed to say. Some say this is because it was Dracula himself who led the team. No one knows why Dracula would go to such lengths to negatively depict himself, such as why he chose to portray himself as the Joker on the box art.

I wonder if it was one of the original Konami guys: Kagemasa Kozuki, Yoshinobu Nakama, and Tatsuo Miyasako.

It's entirely possible. Konami at that time wasn't very big in the corporate scheme of things and I'm sure that many programmers, graphic designers, musicians, directors, etc. were working on many different projects at the same time.
