If Doom was done today (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4yIxUOWrtw#ws)
The truth is so sad...
-
It's actually quite epic. ;D
-
First-person shooters smoke so much dick today. This was difficult to watch.
-
Explosives DLC requirement made my day, LOL :D
-
>Russians
sad, yet true.

I thought watching this was amusing with the voice acting.

It's a funny video, definitely, it just strikes too close to home. ;_; It's so spot-on and exemplifies why I hate most modern FPSs—namely ones which model themselves after the COD series.

Me too, I can even play them sometimes, but I prefer classics like Duke Nukem and Shadow Warrior or even Half-Life since in these new games you regain your health automatically, with makes no sense and they focus in cutscenes more than needed.

That was hilarious. Over the top handholding, tons of exposition for every little bit of gameplay, style over substance, it's all there.

Did you say............ Classic Duke Nukem?
Duke Nukem 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T599pIWhArM#)
On another note, that video was hilarious.

I loved the DLC moment, as well as the facts that they dissuaded exploration, and made "E" do fucking EVERYTHING.

No glasses, not Nukem! 8)

I lol'd, I never played Duke 2, but I played a few minutes of Duke 1 before xD

Owned DN1 for PC back in the days of Apogee... along with Monster Bash and Halloween Harry. Apogee put out some awesome platformers back then.

That video made me sad for Doom, because the atmosphere of Doom is creepy, all the cookie cutter shit today in the FPS industry just doesn't convey a sense of fear and danger at every turn. In Doom you had to survive, ammo could run out, and you had to find health packs to heal yourself.
And whomever classified Half Life 1 and 2 as auto healing, no sir, play it. You still needed health pickups to survive, your character would not autoheal like the FPS games of today.
Also awhile back I played one of the Rainbow Six PS3 games (I don't know which, and I played that one like a full fledge run and gun, I could sit in a good spot, my health would refill and onward I'd go nailing more enemies down. That's not how the game is supposed to go from what I've ever seen.
-
Yeah doing Doom on the hardest difficulties meant I had to learn how to kill Pinkies with my bare damn fists. It actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
Ditto for Heretic as well, killing those centaur or scorpion things or whatever they were with the bo-staff.

No one did, instead I said that Half-Life is one of the games that I like because doesnt auto-heal :)

Yeah I re-read your reply a bit more awake this time, I misread it the first time.
-
Why isn't this in hardcore gaming?!
-
Because I thinked that all non-castlevania thing must be in off-topic, Im new here so I tried to dont make a mistake, but apparently I did.
-
Just to be a dick, you made like 3 mistake in that post.
thought, not, and GRAMMAR! >:(
I wouldn't worry about it, it's Jorge's fault for not moving it!
-
Yeah, I know that "thinked" doesnt exist, but I didnt remember the correct at time and posted this way, thank for remembering me of the word "thought" lol
-
Moderators can move it too.
*summons power, moves thread*
-
LOL, I didn't think it would actually move. :o
Anywho, time to actually comment on the video.
It really does make me sad, that that might've been what I've stepped on when walking into the world of gaming. I'd probably would've never touch Castlevania if that was my first experience.
Of course, that might be different... because if that is how it started, it might be over by now, and the games now would be more enjoyable.

So deep, you talked like as if we are passing now the end of a new beginning in game history.
-
The phrase "It's funny because it's true" really rings here.

Hell imagine if Castlevania was done in Call of Duty style. It's be like if all 4 characters in CV3 were all up at the same time yet DLC was needed to play as them as well as pick different stages. At this rate, they'd probably do something as sadistic as making different forms of Dracula DLC or even wall-meat as DLC.
-
Or you're trying to enter a wrong stage and you hear: AHOOGA! AHOOGA! and see a message: RETURN TO COMBAT AREA! <insert timer>
