Title: Looking for someone who could translate something for me...
Post by: Nagumo on October 21, 2012, 03:59:21 AM
I recently bought a few issues of a Japanese RPG magazine that contained an officially licensed Castlevania story. I managed to scan all the pages and now I'm looking for someone who might be interested in translating this. So if you might know anyone who would like to do this (or are able/willing to do it yourself) then please let me know in this thread or send me a PM.

Details about the story:

It's called Akumajo Dracula: Akuma no Chi - Chi no Akumu which translates to Demon Castle Dracula: Blood of the Demon - Nightmare of Blood. It was published from 1992 until 1995  and the author (I don't know his name) also wrote the All About Akumajo Dracula guide for Castlevania IV. It's an AU story like Lords of Shadow (which I guess already makes it seem uninteresting to some people) but the story contains Simon Belmont and Dracula. However, Simon is not the protagonist. The real main characters are "Dean Silva" and "Elizabeth Arye" who are a bishop and a priestess respectively. Elizabeth is bitten by a vampire and Dean has to figure out how to save her. Because it's an AU story there are a few odd diversities. For example, the Belmont Clan exists but they are not relatated by blood. Each generation a guardian is born who is destined to the take the name of Belmont and fight monsters or whatever. Also, Dracula was Simon's best friend while he was still human etc. The story also has some really nice artwork but I can't show it here since the files are a bit large.

The last thing I should mention is that I don't have the full story yet. I only have the first three volumes of the story but there are at least twenty. However, I do intend to collect them all if I can track down the issues in which they are featured.

Tezuka Ichiro worked on Alundra and Final Fantasy IV and Nightmare of Druaga and MedarotDS and a couple other stuffs. There's more about him in Japanese sites than in English sites.  :-\

His art style reminds me a of Narumi Kakinouchi but with... um... I can't place it, but his character designs are reminiscent of some other artist. All in all, his style is very late-eighties.

Ichiro isn't the character designer. It's someone called Masaki. Not the one who worked on Ecclesia, though. Pretty neat that he also wrote Final Fantasy novels.

Thanks for the advice Crisis-kun, but as mentioned by Koutei himself, his English is limited. I also got the impression that he hates this novel.  :P

Although I don't dislike this novel, I don't translate this. Sorry.

I wouldn't mind giving it a look over, but I make no promises.

There's yaoi in it, isn't there.

The novel features some pretty nice artwork.Other than that, I'm not sure if I like AU stories that much.Wish I could help though. But I gave up learning japanese because I wasn't that commited, especially in learning kanji.

Well, i was committed to learn, but the lack of time + the school that i was going was to expensive, made me to give up. I only went 1 year, i have learned hiragana, katakana and about 100 kanji, but that was some years ago, so now i almost have forgotten them.....

You're lucky because you could take courses. We don't have them in here, so I bought a book and tried to learn by myself.I almost forgot the hiragana, and completely forgot about katakanas and kanji.

It sounds like the person who wrote it has not heard of the Belmont's supernatural powers that are inherent ONLY to the Belmont family bloodline. And it was very early on in the series when this was established. Maybe for another reboot attempt of the series after LoS is over and done with they could put this idea into practice- Oh wait! They did already; LoS. Gabriel took the surname Belmont and hunted evil.

It sounds interesting, and I'd love to learn more, but I know very little Japanese. I randomly decided to take Japanese this semester so I could fill up my credit hours. It's my senior year of college, so I have wiggle room to take random classes I want to take since most of my classes for my major are out of the way.  :P

We just started learning Kanji about 3 weeks ago. I'm terrible with remembering Katakana, but I have most of the Hiragana memorized.
