Title: Megan Fox. No, the real one who's not made of silicone, stiches, and sun oil.
Post by: Lumi Kløvstad on November 03, 2012, 11:07:35 PM
Oh how the lovely have fallen.

That's Megan Fox at the start of her acting career, before she was all carved up and famous.

She was BEAUTIFUL before she went into acting. Like... prom queen beautiful. Girl-next-door beautiful.

And then she just HAD to go sultry.

Hun, word of advice. You are either born sultry, or you learn how to be sultry. It cannot be carved or sculpted in human flesh.

You were beautiful when you started, and now you've ruined a perfectly lovely girl who will never come back. Rest in peace, real Megan Fox.

Offbeat topic for a thread.

Eh this is just one individual case of the "beauty" industry resulting in healthy people getting unnecessary surgery. Remember the saying that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"? Well that's not really true in modern society, where making YOU and everyone else feel ugly and inadequate is just part of a multi-billion dollar business strategy.

Watch television for a few hours and try to count all the times you are implicitly, and even explicitly, told in ads that - you're too fat - you're too old -  your teeth aren't white enough - your hair isn't right - your clothes are out of fashion. To say nothing of the models who are used to represent the "average person" in television and film.

Fact is most people are pressured to fit into a body image that only a very few can ever actually attain, because people who aren't happy with their looks will continually buy new things to try and change them. And even when they are "conventional beauties" like Fox was, we can see there's still pressure to look more and more unrealistic to meet the artificial and unrealistic expectations manufactured by the cosmetics, fashion and related industries as well as Hollywood.

Wow, she seriously looks like a completely different person. Had you not told me who that was I don't think I would have recognized her.

I love those moments in Nip/Tuck where Christian Troy really rips apart a perfectly fine woman (well, "in the show"--the actresses all already had surgery anyway) after sleeping with her, being a right bastard of it, preying on women's insecurities. A soap opera for the ages.

I have to wonder what Miss Fox would think if she saw this old picture of herself... It's like taking a God-given body and unnecessarily altering it because it isn't perfect enough. NEWS FLASH HOLLYWOOD! Our existence is BASED solely on imperfection. It is all necessary for us to look and be imperfect in order for us to grow as a person. Nothing wrong with applying a little make-up here and there, but to go the whole 9 yards is too much of a stretch for anyone. But the industry doesn't care about that. They only care about one thing: Money.

I've long hated our society's views on beauty. Even amongst my male friends who are against plastic surgery and the like, they will be quick to recoil at the sight or thought of a woman who's not "totally hot." My appreciation of the beauty of the fairer sex has always been more wide-ranged and less idealistic. (Unless we're talking butts, because all butts are certainly not created equal.) Unless she's unequivocally hideous, I can find at least an attractive physical aspect in just about every woman.

Same goes for men. It's different because I'm not sexually attracted to men, but I can recognize and appreciate male beauty, and it's unfortunate that a lot of guys also get passed off as ugly and undateable based on appearance.

Wow,she was pretty. that was natural beauty there. Definitely of the "girl next door" type.

Daaaamn Megan.

Yknow, it's something that ive been trying to describe. When a woman is so loaded with artificial beauty that she just... i dunno, stops being "OMG SHES HOT/PRETTY/BEAUTIFUL" and... I... see, this is what im trying to describe. she just feels... 'plain'? I mean, there is a point where all the plastic surgery and then the loads of makeup just make someone who was beautiful, andthen just overload it so much that it jumps the shark and just feels plain and uninteresting.

Like Kim Kardashain. The more I see her face, the less interesting it looks. At quick glance, she looks pretty, but if I were to, say, stare at her picture for a bit, she just starts seeming less and less so, and gets more and more uninteresting to look at.

I still remember first seeing her on Two and a Half Men and thought "Man I would love to go out with her." ( actually it was something alot more vulgar but im keeping it PG). She did have a natural look about her but then like clockwork, hollywood kicked in and changed her.

Maybe she'll change for the better now that she has a kid on the way but who knows.

Or Pamela Anderson. To me, she's the prime example of what you're saying. Never really found her that attractive at all. Her fake body (and horrible taste in men) makes her pretty repulsive, actually.

It's all a matter of taste. I think she looks great either way.

Megan and the rest of the Transformer's crew were on board my former duty station USS John C. Stennis while wrapping up the final scene in the 2nd movie. I remember her coming down from the flight deck being escorted by the ship's security like she was the president of the United States. Luckily passageways on Naval vessels are pretty narrow, me and a couple of my old shipmates got to see her up close. She had to squeeze by me and a crowd of other sweaty greasy sailors so we got more than we bargained for being looky loos.  ;D

Nevertheless she was still a stunning sight in contrast to the small number of female sailors.  That was my first time seeing a Hollywood celebrity at such a close range. I would have licked the side of her face but I didn't want to get a reduction in rank, time in the brig or any of that business. I only wish she had been more interactive with the ship's crew. The black guy from the movie was shaking everyone's hands and even playing cards on our mess decks. Megan you sexy ass snob.

Eh mightn't that reflect badly on us in the eyes of the gaming community at large, and by extension the Castlevania fandom generally and the series itself? Maybe, maybe not. But if it got obscene or objectifying enough in the past to be taken down, then that's something to think about. Also Castlevania isn't that "adult" most of the time, remember blood sucking monsters are Saturday morning cartoon stuff these days.

Nope, let's not.
We're better than that.  At least, I would hope we are.

You know better than to think that video games aren't sought after and played by kids much younger then their target audience. In addition, nothing is barricading younger children from signing up here, much less if they lie about their age.

That aside, how can you forget the roots of the series? Look at the first bunch of games, and tell me with a straight face it's all gore and things kids would not, and or should not, play. Honestly, even these days, look at Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin.

We had a babe thread?

There's a board I go to that has a whole sub-forum devoted to babes, and usually involves nude content, sometimes pornographic.

It's the most worthless waste of Internet space, by the way.

Though it is fun to go in there from time to time to post really hideous pictures, like the home birthing I posted a bit ago.

Any chance to make a man lose a boner, I will gleefully take.

Lol no thanks. I'd say most of the crew was stoked to see Megan and Shia, but mainly Megan.

I agree. I think a babe thread could be done right if there are some guidelines to keep things tasteful and yet not too restricting.

As for the community image thing, I think we need to remember that this is a internet forum about a video game franchise. Not a religion, not a ideology that requires a sacred oath, just a small fan base dedicated to a video game franchise. Have some fun.

We have tried a babe thread in the past.  It has always degraded, then failed.
Also, I would really like to migrate gaming, at least in this day and age, as a 'male' dominated thing, and every step that can be taken towards that goal is a positive one.

We need to stop being male privileged entitled people and realize that that kind of thing is just not right.

Feminists are not skinheads. But I agree with Jorge on the views of women, the lack of women in video games and the overall state of society the is male-dominant. There must be a change for the better. A move must be made towards permanent equality or else there will be continual conflicts between the sexes.

Perhaps he meant the lack of 'non-objectified/non-objectifiable' female characters in videogames.

Or maybe the lack of women gamers that have to hide who they are because if they say they are a woman and a gamer then the men will start to say nonsense that's either objectifying (exhibit A (http://fatuglyorslutty.com/2012/10/31/consider-me-notified/)), demeaning, (exhibit B (http://fatuglyorslutty.com/2012/10/29/speculator/)), or downright offensive (exhibit C (http://fatuglyorslutty.com/2012/10/19/variety/)).

Again, it's because of the male privilege embedded into this medium.
This article does a rather good job at explaining what male privilege is:  **clicky** (http://www.doctornerdlove.com/2011/11/nerds-and-male-privilege/all/1/)
