I think Konami might have been planning to do more with Bone Dragons. There are lots of loose ends in their code and some things create nifty effects if you change just one variable.
Load up CV3 in FCEUX and find a Bone Dragon. Open the hex editor and scroll down to RAM address $07ED. Toggle it (if it's 00, change it to 01, and vice-versa). Watch the Bone Dragon. 8)

Uhhhhhh nah you do it and post a video. :D
The suspense is killing me though! Not enough to open the emu and do it... but killing me softly.

I don't know jack squat about programming or hex editing or any of that otherwise I'd try it. Much like Jorge though the suspense is kilin' me! Please do tell!

I'll give ot a try. Where's the earliest bone dragon?
(ps- This is my first ever message from my first smart phone with a touch screen.)

The bone dragons make their first appearance in the atlantis-esque stage of CVIII. I've not seen them prior to it on any path you take.

Ah, neat. So they were originally intended to appear on both the left and right sides of walls. Cool. I wonder if placing them on the left side of a wall with Reamp will make them act appropriately?

No. I can't remember what I tried, but I think either none of the placements will do it or only one of the placements is set up for it. By default, I mean. Go through my ROM notes and find the note about enemy spawner stats. Every spawner has something like 6 stats: screen, x, y, object to spawn, and two special stats (may be a seventh attribute, but I think it's only 6 off the top of my head). Setting one of those special stats to 1 will set $07ED if I remember right.
I think the Bone Dragon King uses that code or parts of it and it might have been set up for him. But if you had the programming skill, you could program the bone dragons to alter $07ED based on Trevor's position. But you'd have to correct it to also adjust the skull's xscale.
Also, if you swap the addresses read for hspeed and vspeed, and changed the sprites of course, you could make bone dragons hang from the ceiling or reach up from pits in the ground.
