:oA Richter Belmont sotn style cloak skin i plan to use in Hunters of the Night, the other fan
game i'm working on atm. Here you see various moves i have made for him using Leo/Crimson's
engine as a base to test with. At this time i'm having some issues with the inventory,but i
will keep at that to fix the problem.

As you can see Richter has many moves i've planned:
-whip attack
-sword attack
-alternate sword attack more likely for elemntal weaponry
-overhand weapons
-katana sword attacks(when i have them sprited)
-various hand to hand combat moves, some of which are new
-a spear attack
-a knife stab attack
-a stabbing sword rapid attack(for weapons like rapiers,estocs,main gauche,kris naga)
- i may add various other orginal new attacks aswell
-plans to make some new weaponry
The game will include other playable characters aswell, but as for who they are is still
undecided.
I am very much leaning towards making Annette a playable character.As i have a
stance,and run for her already(though she is not coded in yet). She will obviously not have
overhanded swinging moves with heavy weapons or weild a whip cause she's not a belmont. She will however more than likely have a crystal ball weaponry,black magic, light magic, this and that, to replace the whip/overhand weapons.
She may still use regular swords, knifes, katanas, hand to hand combat,etc. Not sure on the 3rd player, maybe a rondo style maria, or possibly Iris or Terra. As for the players they will all have inventory for weapons, items, body gear,accesories,etc. In Annette's case she will have some diffenr things in her arsenal that Richter or Maria can't use such as capes. This game is in baby stages atm, and much credit has to be given to Leo Pedrozza and Crimson Curse for setting up a very workable engine with permission.
This game will not be a remake of any other like the Super Castlevania 3 project i am a part of. More over it will be a sotn metroidvania style fan game castelvania Called Castlevania: Hunters of the NIght. I already have 5-6 songs lined up for a custom sountrack aswell that will be featured in the game when it is ready for play.
That may be some time as no time table is set, and i am rigoursly working on SCV3 to complete that game.Many sprites still need reworking even on Richter himself:stance,walk,whip attack,handgun sprites,and ice whip. And as well, my skills are not in the coding department so this may take some time to develop. Well, enjoy the vid!

Thanks, yeah no real storyline yet, though i did have some interesting idea on a plot though. I was going to have the storyline idea based on someone stealing religious artifacts that sealed away dracula appaerntly forever in eternal slumber. But someone has stolen several differnt artifiacts. And you the player, must search through 9 gates of hell to find each artifcats, guarded by bosses. Something like that. Obviously it would be sorta extensive with a massive amount of enemies, and many bosses like sotn just with a difernt storlying,players, and new moves. It would get much deeper than that but that is a basic premise for a storlying concept.
Along the way you would rescue maybe Iris or Terra and be able to use one as playable character in unlock mode or something. I really haven't decided all that yet. And it's sorta far away as i have to learn how to code alot of stuff in. My biggest hurdle is making armor, and weapons give you more or less stats,depending on what you have. Same with food items. Moreover i will have to learn how to add the extra players globally yet give them some various differnt moves as they will not all play the same way.
Yeah i'm planning on adding differnt whips for richter like fire whip,medusa whip, lightning(thunder)whip. Also planned to put in a guile morphed flash kick as one foot weapon.

Well, i like that you have Richter using different weapons and not limited to the whip and as for the story, while simple it's not very bad. I wish you best of luck with learning how to code all these thinks. ;)

Yeah it will take some time as i experiment with this and that looking at tutorials which are useful. And i have a couple of buddies Crimson and LC who are helping me out with coding problems, that i can take and use from SCV3 towards this game. Still it will take a long time to do,but will be adventerous aswell. If the game gets completed,and teh coding very sharp, i may release the source at some point for others to view code to make their own games/engines with. You know help the cv fangame community. :)
Yeah seeing that it's made in game maker, if their's any gml coders who wanna help with coding/tips for this project that is more than appreciated, as i'll need all the help i can get on it.

Looks good Las! However I think my only complaint so far is that Richter's Vampirekiller whip is too short.

Yeah there is quite a bit of rework i must do in alot of the sprites. Some are finalized while others need to be re-adjusted. The whip you are refering to is the steel whip not the vampire killer(which i think is supposed to be a more purple hue). But either way it used to be shorter than that. I did extend it somewhat out further maybe i'll make it go even further out than that or make the ball at the end a little bigger. My idea is not to make any of the weapons so overpowering it's a walk through. But then again it would depend on your stats and the weapons status more over and not the fact that(say the heaven sword) can tear through pretty much anything. Eventually when i can figure out all that stuff i will adjust it all.
there is at least one thing i failed to show that i had done. It's ricter's death animations. I literally took alucard's from sotn(not richter's old version,but alucards) took out all the blood spats, reworked the sprites into richter and then reinserted all the blood spats. It looks much better imho. I may make an alternate death yet, but it's not super necessary. I suppose we'll see what happens. When i get more weapons,moves,animatiosn done on the engine, i can post another video in the future. Hopefully by then i'll figure out how to manipulate the inventory better which i'm having some rather big issues with atm.

Yeah he's far from being done what i have planned for him,certainly his weapon aresonal.Obviously one of your first weapons will more than likely be the steel whip( an average but useful totting whip). I still would like to figure out how to code in the whip twirl in. That may be kinda cool and adapt that too all the whips. Some weapons may only be acessable after you beat a boss, or unlockalbe via enemy drops.
Yeah some of them will be harder drops than others of course. Some will be ridicuosly hard drops. That will depend on the strength of the weapon of course. Same with any defensive weapons like persay the ring of varda. If i add that don't expect it to show up randomly or be an easy drop.
Anything that valuable in the game should be ridiculoulsy hard. I think too if i made a shop owner he'd buy back more shit and sell more, but at times in the game he'll sell less depending on where'd your at. I do plan on adding in more enemies and bosses, it may take a while assuming i can code them in and when, and if i can get help or not. That will be a hugh factor i'm sure.

Any ideas if Richter-mode characters will have story to them? As much as I love the hand-held Castlevania's, not ever having a story (and I mean more than 1 or 2 very brief cut-scenes or text-boxes), made them a little harder to play. We've seen glimpses (like PoR's sister mode and DoS's Julius mode) where they jury-rigged a quick story together, so it's not impossible.

As for new moves for Hunters of the Night i added in the jump attacks for the 3 sword swing attacks including the overhand now. I also added a spear attack animation thanks to ideas and persmission from Vedora Kingdom, i was a able to make richter have some pretty smooth spear joust attack. I also plan on making more sword stances, including some sumarai swings for the samurai swords, and a rapid sword attack for the stabbing swords like the rapier,estoc,main guache,etc. I haven't gotten quite that far yet. But i plan to get to it after the clocktower stage on SCV3.

@ Donofrio, thanks! Yeah i did plan on using them. Actually all sprites up too. Dont' worry though as i've gotten permission to morph them from Vedora Kingdom himself over on Serio's forum. He was cool with it,i told him i'd give him credit too! Yeah i've already gotten the long spear in play for the weapon. I plan on doing a crap load more than that. Like all the spear weapons, all the overhand,samurai, weapons. Probalby alot of the swords too, maybe not redundant ones that are too similar or have no purpose attack wise. I will have to get crafty when doing the hand to hand combat. I've got some ideas going on though. My biggest hurdle will be making a samuair swing(yet keeping the samurai slashes from sotn. At the same time i wanna make it look more samurai swing than regular sword swing liek the other 2 i had. It will of course like all of them have a jumping attack animtion aswell. The biggest hurdle atm is finding a way to shut off the weapon while richter throws his sub item while having somethig other than the whips. I think Crimson had it working at one point. I should check with him. That'd look kinda akward huh? Richter's throwing animatiosn with some random weapon flailing forward.
Also Donofrio, do you think that serio would be interested in using any of our players from SCV3 for his Castlevania fighter game? I seen some people potentially doing it but those post were from a while ago and it doesnt' seem like the players are fully sprited yet.He's welcome to them if he wants them. I woudlnt mind so long as some one out thier doesn't use it for a casltevania 3 remake. I dont' see it being conflicting. I know i had seen on the list a need for sypha and grant. Well i do have alot of sprites, and even if someone wanted to do extra work with them,sharing credit, that'd be cool. I figured i'd just throw it out their.

If you want to offer sprites to Serio, you'd better talk to CyberDragon first. He's pretty much the quality control guy when it comes to spritework for the game.

Cyberdragon? Well ok, i just don't wanna see him ripping on my work like he did on the sypha post,otherwise i'd prefer talking to Serio himself. For one thing we are trying to promote our game, He isn't helping the cause. He should be careful of how he approaches a scenario like that,which wasn't even posted by me, mind you. As much as he's critiqueing it, it sound more like a lecture that he's ripping on. I dont' make note of mediocracy on others work, though i'm sure i'd hear about it if i did. I really dont' expect the same on our work. He should choose his words better next time. On top of that where does he get off comparing my sypha sprites to Jorge's one sprite of sypha. Granted i think Jorge is phenomenal sprite artist, using him as a reference or anyone else for that matter is a bit of smack in the face to me and my crew.
Basically what he may as well be implying is Las, your sprites suck compared to Jorge's it is mediocre, and not sotn like. Heres how to make them. I can dish my stuff over their to see what they think on Sypha and Grant, but enough down talk on it and i wont' waste my time or tweak them for the project.
Quality is one thing and critiques are fine, that was a bit lenghty though, and were their any positives thrown in the mix? I never set out with the intention of
mediocracy". I just ask next time when commenting,that he be a little bit more respectful. Words like medicriocy is clearly degrading. As i've recently read that post i know realize what you guys are talking about.
Thanks for the heads up, either way. As it stand i have 2 projects i'm doing so i dunno when i'll have time to fix whatever the hell he thinks is wrong. Anyone else wanna share credit and tweak them be my quest. I will say this if he has anything furhter to say, i'm prefer he just pm me about it seeing how i'm clearly in the members list over their and have been for some time. Jargon like"Mediocracy"will not be tolerated!!

Thing is, the guy's like Simon Cowell or Gordon Ramsay, he will not show kindness until you've shown to him that you can get better and meet his standards, and he'll just didredpect you even more if you get upset like this over his criticism. And your sprites were shown to him by someone else anyway. If you were to personally ask him specifically what's wrong with your sprites, I think he'll point it out in a detailed enough way that you'll know exactly what to fix.
And I don't know who -1'd you, but I know for sure that Cyber wouldn't register in this forum for some reason.

Well to be honest with guys like Simon Cowell and Gordon Ramsey as up as they are in The music and food industry you may do everything right and still never gain their respect.No matter how talented you are. I've seen Simon boot some of the most talented singers i've ever heard,just cause he didn't like them or their apparence wasnt top notch. That's bull, are they looking for talent or a pretty face?
How respectable is it too treat people like shit, while they put their best stuff on the line. I dunno if dudes like them are paid to do it, or if they naturally come off like asswholes. But who the hell wants to stand for that. Anyone can shit on someone. Yeah that takes a real man. Yeah the problem with society is their are too many asswholes in it. And not enough nice guys telling someone to keep workking on their song, it could have potential or being nice about it. Saying your "awful" is insulting. It's not even critiquing. How can it be?
If you critique you say what it is you dislike,but you usually add what you did like or could be potential about it. I think those two people are a bit much when used in comparsion to remarks made by Cyberdragon. I wont' put him in the same boat as them by any means. I doubt he'd possibly be that rude! I dont' mind critism and this and that to enhance. But i just don't think"Mediocracy" was approriate. I dont' run out of my way and say anyone else's stuff it "mediocre".
You know. It's a common courtesty thing. Just say well i don't really prefer those sprites cause of this,this and that. He really doesn't need to drag it on, and start comparing my sprite to a potential better one he found. I'm just asking him to be a bit more respectful in those regards, i'm not asking him to like it. I did post over their asking him to please not dis our work even if he's not a big fan of it. But i did tell them i'd be willing to offer up sypha and grant for anyone who would like to tweak them further if interested. I am just busy atm. If they choose not to use them it's all the same. I figured wth they dont' have them done,plus it will help promote our game potenitally.
Sadly i think that post may have backfired our efforts for game promotion. I dunno why cyberdragon isn't registered here. Its' not my place to say why, but i think i have an idea, and not it's not about my complaint. I dunno but i'd rather just drop this whole conversation here and see what he will say over their. Seeing how it doesn't really pertain to this thread anyways.

To be fair, your Sypha sprite is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry similar to mine, to the point to which I asked you about it before.
Some of the frames look like they're edited versions of mine.
This is why I'm reluctant to share my stuff, because a lot of it is unfinished and then someone can (I'm not say you did this) make a few sprite edits and call it their own, which can cause terrible confusion.
The only spriteset that I'm happy enough to release a complete version, is my Simon Belmont CV2 set, and my Kid Dracula set, both of which are up at the Sprite thread. I think there have been some NES-looking sprites, too (like Leon) that have been available but they're pretty retro...
I have never met this "Cyberdragon" person... but Serio is pretty much done with this board, so it is likely that anyone heavily associated with Serio's work would also choose not to register here. But this is all just conjecture. I've not seen one with Cyberdragon's handle or anything resembling it, but I know a few sprite artists associated with the project who do post here.

Cyberdragon10k, as been said before, is pretty much the Simon Cowell of sprite art. He is the quality manager of resources on Serio's game. And believe me, he's not nearly as bad a guy as he's made out to be.

Yeah i hear you Jorge, probalby best to showcase sprites in a game or soemthing. As for sypah sprites, i never did see what you had on them. Only trevor belmont, I didn't see anything players past that. You mentioned you start work on sypha and alucard but too my knowledge it's never been posted. I used sotn, cv3 ideas, and obreck's friend had a sheet of a girl running that was unfinished. I used only used her run frames for hair sypha though. As for hoody sypha the only move past what i came up with was a aluacrd jumping morph,all but that and the swithc player move had been custom made. Well I'll put it honestly, if you wanna take anything i've doen and tweak it further and share ideas i'm cool with it. Feel free to use anything in your project you want. I'm all for it. We can share credit on sypha and anything else you'd want too. So long as i get partial credit for having a hand in on what i've worked at i'm cool. Reiko did have some early ideas on sypha aswell. The alucard we did was done by claimh and myself.
As for cyberdragon, i don't have anything against him, and i did talk with him about the post. Where he did keep his opinions, he did mention he'd be more mindful of how he commented on artworks. I understood his opinion and was not mad about that, it was more the approach he took(more over label) that i felt underplayed what i did. I talked to him and we seemed to have come to an understanding on the topic. I think things are much more smooth now. He certianly handle it more professionally than Simon Cowell would have, and i dont compare him by any means to Simon.

Any update yet? I have seen your topic for a while. Are you planing to add maria too? I have a base for her outfit in DXC. It a 30 minutes edited from Eric. Possible it could help as a guide for your Maria. :-X And for Eric'a animations. Are you said you will use all Eric's animations right? :o I wonder you could modify some animation to fit Richter's. Luckily the sheet you got is out of date now that mean Richter will not spear like the spear very heavy to him like this. :P

Wow nice maria edit. Yeah i'll probably be using Maria and ironically that version too. Not sure how i may make her play out. I'm thinking like a mix of sotn and rondo moves. I dont' yet know either of her move sets fully. But there is always room to add extra stuff for her too. As for Annette she'll play alot more like richter but no heavy weapons or whips(she can't weild it ) She instead willl be able to use cloaks that richter can't use or Maria.
She will have difffern weapons. I'm thinking cyrstal ball moves or something. Maybe various versions or maybe they could be her sub weapon. All will carry gear like head gear,body,boots,charms,etc. Just annette will have some extra goodies the other two wont' have. I really have to figure out exaclty what i'm looking for on them at this point. Once i figure out how to make them all global and insert various differnt moves i'll be looking to sprite them and come up with some cool concepts.
If you wanna shoot me some concepts that's cool. When i get enough done i'll post up another video but probably not for a while. I'd really rather have Annetter and maria's basic moves at least globablly playable in game. Their attacks can be coded in after.

Hey guys! I realize it's been a while since i posted. Since i last posted i haven't had much luck coding enemies. I did get bomb knight coded as he is in sotn, but some enemies i struggeled with as i clearly am begginer level at coding. But while i look to enlist for help(whichi i'm doing atm) i have been busy at the artwork side of things. I have updated something such as the sub screen menus'. Right now they look rathe aria of sorrow-ish. I liked that style the best. I may make changes to it. Feel free to shoot me ideas if you have some. I also have familiars for Annette and Maria. As you will notice Maria doesn't have any weapons. She wont' play quite like the others. I have some ideas that will make her gameply a bit differnt. Annette will not have overhand weapons(they are too big for her) so instead she'll use crystal balls. While richter has the advantage in overhand power weapons, he doesn't have familiars. I may make Maria's familars so she starts off with all of them, while you have to trapse around and find them for Annette. Annette will also use many weapons that richter uses, though her style and stance will be unique, she will also not use whips(for obviuos reasons). So i would think maria may play similrt to a mix of rondo,sotn, and custom stuff perhaps, while richter and Annette are somewhat metroidvania. Not sure of the layout and levels and storyline yet. But i do plan on making this big and epic. As it stands i plan on putting a pleathra of enemies/bosses in game. I do have some keen ideas, but wont' release them just yet. I do have all the basic movements for Annette done, but i won't release them yet, cause i may go back and rework them. So far she has only one sword move. I haven't started work on Maria but i will have her costume closer to the rondo psp style than sotn. Well i am optomistic things will heat up soon here. I am just plugging away daily at this. * also for Annette i will have her weapons have a sub category with weapons, or familiars. The familiars you'll be able to equip while using a weapon of course. Also under the sub section weapons for her and richter, they will all be categorized. From their you can enter the inventory to pick whatever weapon you have. It will be like sotn, you can find them in the game, have an enemy rare drop,and buy them. NOt sure yet how the shop keeper will be. I will have him recognize Richter as Master Alucard's friend probably. Or just have another guy set up shop!!! lol ok peace! ;D

Very nice! ;D ;D ;D Glad to see you guys are diggin' the screenies! Yeah i am very adament about finish not only this project but SCV3 aswell. Most of my team is away right now so that's why i'm not pressin' the issue on SCV3. But i will sit down from time to time and hammer out a level here or their. Mostly the thing that holds me up is coding/code help. I am not a coder, sad to say. At least not yet. I'm sure once i got everything ripped,edited, all the artwork done i will sit down and do what i can. But some things are a bit out of my league so-to-speak(segmented enemies/bosses,lots really!!). I have some one who is helping me atm. I'm swapping talents as they say with him. Helping him with art/levels on another project. I know these fan games take time and must require massive attention/dedication. If there is one thing i excell in more than anything it's drive. So long as i get code help, my drive will be relentless. You should see all the enemies i already have in store. All i've been doing lately is gather enemies/bosses most projects dont' have.I've looked on spriters resource(None are their). I will of course dish them when done too. It takes hours/days even. Believe me when i say this enemy/boss list will be ginormous. Larger than that of sotn.

All i can say is if can get code help on this and the entire game gets coded in fully/or i can even manage some things myself like the select character screen(which btw is fully working; Richter,Annette,or Maria) i will go balls to the walls with this game. I have every intention of metroidvania-ing it to the max! ;) ;) ;)

Hey, guys,Aside from the regular sotn style shields that will be used. I thought i'd show a few more i'm adding. Both Richter and Annette will be able to use shields. Added from this sheet are:
1.woodland shield
Plus a handful of custom shields
2. A)Belmont Crest shield(Ricther only)
B)Belmont Crest Shield alternate version(Richter Only)
3. Tiger Lilly Shield(Annette only)
4. Elvenkind Shield
5. Pumpkin Shield
I've also added different stats. Though kept the woodland shield stats
Also i thought of adding a kinshin or samurai shield. I have yet to make one. And perhaps a silly one in the game that has a reference to the movie The Mask. I thought it might be neat to see what it looked like. I am trying to stay away from silly stuff though and make this a serious game with lots to it.

Uncertain as too what they will do yet. But i do have some ideas worthy of mention.
Luminaire- creates a radius of heat(Shield) which damages enemies too close. Also lights dark caverns/areas.
Dark Matter-Sucks up enemies at their weakest hp into a vortex(Black hole) of the unknown.
Thundra-Createst lightning from the crystal ball. SOmewhat randomly but hits anything near by as lightning would do.
Gaia Crystal- Produces falling rocks and earth upon the enemies(rock shower).
Zephyr wind - PRoduces gusting winds(tornadoes) that devistate the enemy. Can also be used to boost Annette upwardf for a short time to reach hard to get to places. Time period is brief however.
Inferno Ball- Produces molten lava globs spewed outward at enemy. In little ball globs.
Frostbite- creates a snow storm similar to hydra storm but will hurt enemies unless they are low on hp. Then tehy freeze solid.
Drago Crystal- Release a ferocious red dragon. Dragon stays with Annette for a reasonable time and attasck enemies with bitting, claw slashing and fire breath.
Well just ideas but they are up for discussion of course. :o

Along the way you would rescue maybe Iris or Terra and be able to use one as playable character in unlock mode or something. I really haven't decided all that yet. And it's sorta far away as i have to learn how to code alot of stuff in. My biggest hurdle is making armor, and weapons give you more or less stats,depending on what you have. Same with food items. Moreover i will have to learn how to add the extra players globally yet give them some various differnt moves as they will not all play the same way.
Yeah i'm planning on adding differnt whips for richter like fire whip,medusa whip, lightning(thunder)whip. Also planned to put in a guile morphed flash kick as one foot weapon.

This problem is sorta easy to solve if you are using Game Maker you can create a script with all weapon´s status, armor defenses and etc. And make the Corresponding object of each weapon a Parent of a Object Named Par_weapons in this object you must put in the Create event your dmg Variable (for example In my is Global.dmg ) and in the step event you must do the script itself. alas Cool Shield´s you have got there. another question tottaly off topic is Jorge D. Hey thanks isso belmont. I dunno about a cv3 hack. I've heard of one out their but in 8 bit. Jorge Fuentes's game is Castlevania Chronicles: Dracula's Curse. Last i checked he did have a coder named Agoaj, but i've heard nothing from either one of them lately on it's status. I am part of Super Castlevania 3 Project,started by Obreck,but now taken on by Myself and Reiko since his departure from the game. We have a good handful of levels done, and i do have to make some adjustments with doors,sound issues, and things like that to be able to release a new demo. Can't' say exactly when. That can found at the MKF forum. It's not dead, still working on it from time to time, so when we are ready we'll put out a demo. As for Jorge's game, you have to ask him. But it looked to be a pretty amazing remake of CV3!

Ok here's a little bit more of an update for ya! IT's Annette Renard Playable.

She's not coded in yet globally with Richter and Maria...so i just decided to take her finished animations and put them in place of richters. Either way her inventory other than the assassin's blade isn't even started. She will have many weapons and moves! Also you'll see some new added enemies. Until perfected they are very W.I.P.'s. So far i've attempted: Diplochepalus,Discus Armor,Sword Lord, Spear Knight,alura une,wight,fixed scarecrow, and bomb knight. Bomb knight and alura une work close to or near perfect. Alura une's death is wierd, and bomb knight's throw code is funky. He'll throw close to you or far, but not at you sadly. I dunno if code is conflicting or not. But i do plan on adding many other enemies. Some i'm ready to try coding in, or get help with are: Boomerang Armor,dryad,triton,devil,flame devil,demon lord,arch demon,lizard blade, hammer brother, arachne, cockatrice,basilisk,Manticore,and Giant Ghost. Haven't yet attempted these but will be doing so after Annette is fully ready to go, with all but her inventory items remaining. 8) 8) 8)

Looking good Las. It is a shame that the coding issue is holding you up. It's been a major roadblock for the project for a while now. Might I suggest, it may be easier for you to take a break with your current build and do some major research in changing whatever software you are using to build it with. It's probably more productive for you to recreate the progress where you are at now in a simpler program that you can find better tutorials on the net with for your next project. The updates for SCV3 are looking very polished now.

@Darkman_429. In some regards i do believe you make a valid point. If there is any programs out their that are easier to use as game maker yet at that same time offer the same quality and stability gmk provides i'd consider. I dunno if it was MMF2 or Beats of Rage but one of those programs was god awful in comparison to game mkaer. I coudnt even play the fan games people made cause the controls were glitchy/sticky. nah not that one, maybe a better program. I'm always up for suggestion. Now talking about roadblocks,Yeah you make an even better point their. I agree. I'm starting to thinjk i should just take time away from the game to learn how to code myself. Things will go slow at first but much smoother in the long run. I also do not plan on quitting either game even if it takes a long time.

very nice I can't wait to see this out and available to play, I like how Annette looks too *applause* though it was a little weird to see her tossing that massive -at least compared to her body size- axe. Otherwise great job it looks like it'll be a lot of fun when it's done, keep up the good work.

You gotta remember if you played some fan-games where the controls were awful that is not necessarily the program but the coding from the maker's themselves. I know that MMF2 gets a bad rap because of a steep learning curve, but I got all kind of resources for it that could more than get you started. I mean look how far that my project is getting with it. If you are interested in trying it out, shoot me a PM and I can help you as far as tutorials and such. As for BoR, it's doable, but I had originally changed from that program for my project because of it's limited color pallete and the fact that it doesn't have a standalone engine. You basically have to mod from someone else's existing work. I would say, you are right in learning to code yourself. It doesn't matter if the program you use is simple as long as you get the results that you are looking for. That way you don't have to depend on anyone else, even if it means delaying your progress for a bit. I think the payoff and the satisfaction of you figuring it out for yourself will motivate you even more and you will start finishing things up twice as fast. Just a thought..

@Darkman_429. Yeah it was one of those two that was glitchy for me. I do think for now i'll stick with game maker. I hear alot of good things about that and unity. So i will just have to start practicing more with writing out code. I know a vast amount of terms,what they mean, and how to add them. But not really how to write or get code to always do what i need it too. For now i feel i should learn more about game maker and keep at it.
@ gunlord, thanks! I based the designs for the sprite from the psp annette. I originally wanted to go with rondo but here hair was purple. But when i seen the portriat online of psp annette i was like yeah that one instead. Defenetly. She is also still a wip like richter. Still much to perfect on them.
@Kale, yeah i know she's never been playable but figured it would be nice to see what i could do with her as a playable character. I teeter tottered on the ideas of making either iris or terra another playalbe character. Where i'd probably have choose Iris cause she seems to make more sense. She seems more intelligient than Terra and probably the daughter of a aristocrat or soemthing(very learned/sophistacated for that era). Terra seems to be a bit out-there so-to speak so i wouldnt know where to begin with. Where as it may be a longshot for either of these two to get sprited up and playable, I would base them off of psp version. I will say this you will at least see one enemy, maybe boss in the game that is totally an original concept but that will very much fit into castleavnia folklore.
@Mayzen,yeah my thougths exactly. I don't want her to have hugh weapons or look akward with them. Instead of having those hugh overhand strong weapons she'll have crystal balls instead(she still uses other weapons though). They'll have some magic spells that she can cast similar to what sypha or charlotte can do.

Hey thanks! I was going to post some animated gifs of Annette's owl (POR Style) Doing a custom dash i made for it and also a floating stance for the valkyrie, and a stabbing dash move aswell. Too bad Photobucket is acting up on me!Certainly can say the familiars are getting their. I still need a bunch of moves for variouse weapons styles for Annette and even 1 or 2 more for richter aswell. Also i now have many of the weapons i planned for the game. Not nearly all of them though. The spears will be tricky causse with Richter i'll have to make all new spears for each various kind. I may see morph Johnathan to Annette so as to not make another whole set of weapons. That will be tedious as hell. After Annette & Richter are complete along with the weapons for them(this will take a while). I'll start Maria. She should be easier, cause her weapons will be her familars plus a possibly energy shot or kick. Not sure yet.

What's wrong with purple hair? It is Anette's true Rondo look. Beside it's nothing a little re coloration wouldn't take care of.

one trick I learned early in development is even if things pick up where you cant work on the project always easily set yourself to get back on it later with notes, or if you leave things in mess or at a difficult point then the chances of you getting back on are much less and we all wanna see this make it!

Well i'm continiously finding odds and ends to work on. Preparing weaponry, spriting moves, enemies, this and that. I like the note idea though, very useful for coding with //. Yeah i like when i figure out somethign and put that down so i know what i did and what it does. But yeah i do have things prioritized too. Really focusing on the players first, and weaponry, before any enemies are put in the engine. Then enemis or bosses next. Maybe traps,gears,etc after.
