Capcom needs to do a fourth Gargoyle's Quest/Demon's Crest and do it right in a gloriously big way: sidescroller stages, 3D flying stages, full-fledged 3D towns, lots of gnarly NPCs, and on a console with awesome music and graphics.
Castlevania(http://imagemacros.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/oh_you.jpg?w=720)
my picks:
Battletoads
Strider Hiryu
Smash Bros. (why haven't they made a 3DS version?! wtf nintendo, take advantage of this already (melee is still the best imo)
Brave Fencer Musashi (the first 1 was cool, 2nd was okay, they should make another)
Tobal (obscure fighting game from Square, not too popular but i had a soft spot for it)
Mystical Ninja/Goemon
Altered Beast (nevermind that ps2 game)
Streets of Rage
MegaMan Legends (lol)
Lunar
that's all i can think of right now
Little nemo: the dream master needs a sequel. It's funny, because despite the Noid being defunct for decades, I did like the Yo! Noid game. Though, I heard it was a different game entirely in Japan, and they released it over here with the Noid and Dominos Pizza references.
Shatterhand needs a 2.5 remake badly.
Wouldn't mind seeing Yo! Noid and Totally rad get remakes, too.

This one's probably one of my favorite video game songs of all time!
Ducktales, that game needs some more love!!
Phantasy Star 5 - Well, I doubt this will ever happen. And if it ever were to happen, I'm sure it would be something along the lines of Phantasy Star Universe. I can definitely live without that.
Yeah, there's a new PSO in the works (http://www.pso2.com/us/ (http://www.pso2.com/us/)), which is exciting for me but I also understand isn't a PS proper. At least the franchise isn't dead?I never got into the whole PSO thing(it was pretty big in the 90s). PS, itself, is dead as far as I'm concerned. PSO, while chronologically set in the PS universe, is almost like a graphical/artistic/gameplay reboot, that quite frankly, never interested me. It went from a classic JRPG with 80s/early 90s simple anime designs to MMORPG with ultra stylized characters wearing plastic clothing. I feel the same regarding the Shining series regarding Shining Force, it might as well be dead after that(everything before it counts IMO). It took me Shining Tears to realize that there's a stark divide between good and bad. Suikoden too. It's dead, even though Konami has "somewhat" continued the series via gaiden/spinoff titles that have no real connection to the main continuity. So sad. :-\

Oh, to see this is in glorious 3D with climactic cutscenes.

I might add another franchise that may technically not be dead, but it's nothing like it used to be, and the developers seem to be assholes on purpose. I'm talking about Seiken 'effin Densetsu. Whenever I think about Suikoden, Shining or Phantasy Star, I automatically think about Seiken Densetsu too. What a waste. :(
Seiken Densetsu
That is secret of mana right?
Yeah, Secret of Mana is Seiken Densetsu II. First one is Final Fantasy Adventure for the original Gameboy (Or Mystic Quest in Europe, not to be confused with Mystic Quest Legend for the SNES.). Also, there's the remake of SD1 on the Gameboy Advance - Sword of Mana.
And yes, god yes - Phantasy Star 2 is notoriously hard. PS4 is really easy though, oddly enough.
Also another one that should come back rpg wise is the bouncer I never had the chance to play it but, it seems to be good from what I hear and shadow hearts. The Bouncer could've used some more tweaking, gameplay-wise. It was baiscally a 3D Beat 'em up and if the controls were better, might've actually been damn awesome. But yeah, in a way, I agree. It probably didn't get a sequel because of fan reaction, but if they addressed all the problems and fixed them with a sequel, I most definitely would've got it.
The game wasn't all-too original, ripping off the cutscene style from Ninja Gaiden and the gameplay from several other games, but I liked that they had three styles of gameplay like Bayou Billy.

Shadow Hearts is a series I REALLY wanted to continue onward. It had the potential to be long lasting like many other series, and if anything, I really would've loved to see the series' approach to other decades. Shadow Hearts in the 50s, one set in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, even up to contemporary time. That would've been awesome. An fantasy RPG set in our world, dealing with "secret history" and the occult, connected through the decades.
It's almost a crime that we'll probably never get a good Disney game like the elder days. Disney Interactive mainly handle a lot of the Disney stuff now. Even if they let Capcom crazy with some of their licenses, Capcom's a shell of what it used to be.
right the overworld theme for ffa is
Final Fantasy Adventure Music ~ 4 : Endless Battlefield (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz-sVQlCoDI#)
I think this was on sword of mana as well on the gba could this be considered a cult hit?
As for psII I guess all old school rpgs are hard because Dragon warrior 1 is hard, FF1 is hard, and psII that is crazy :o
oh and mother from what I have seen mount ito is crazy last time I checked from watching a lets play.
The Sword of Mana version.
I have Sword of Mana. :D

I'd only want a new Shining game if the guys from Camelot all got back together and worked on it. I want the same writers, same artist, same designer, same planner. It's okay if the programmers are different, just don't give them any say.
Kinda like how Spider-man has gotten some gaming love between movies with Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time? I'd totally be up for that. Hell this get's me to thinking about that X-men game Capcom made for SNES back in the 90's. I lived playing as Wolverine in that one. Psylocke, too. She should've had a parody/cameo in Shinobi at some point like Spider-man and Batman did.
Don't they have Gunstar Heroes 2 out for the GBA?
5.) Bionic Commando. Capcom/GRIN's 2009 3D Bionic Commando nearly knocked it out of the park. They still got an in-field homerun in my mind, though, creating one of the most impressive games of this generation. Now that the tricky gameplay mechanics were solidified, all you need to do is put a bit more meat on the bones of the levels, and you have an instant masterpiece.
Mother but Itoi said he was done so this is a dream never ever had the chance to really play them. That is, unless Nintendo hands the franchise over to someone else. Who knows, there could be others out there who both know what it takes to make a good Mother title and are big fans of the series.
Gestu Fuma would work wonders but who could do it right?THIS.
While we're on the subject of Konami and Kojima (Kojami?), he's stated that he would love to lend out his Fox Engine and/or technical supervision to anyone wanting to make a new Silent Hill. Considering that much of what was left of Team Silent is scattered throughout KojiPro (and that Kojima is pretty much the only guy doing anything, at all, in Konami these days), I'd say A) contact Grasshopper (ie, Suda 51 and Akira Yamaoka) B) contact Masahiro Ito, who also tweeted his interest in this whole prospect, C) regroup the old team members still at Kojipro, and D) make a quasi-reunion Silent Hill. Even Konami's president thought this was a good idea. Holy God would this be amazing.
THIS.
Why not MercurySteam after Castlevania? :hides:
That would all be..fangasmic.
I dare no longer dream for the revival of Silent Hill. But if I did, it would be at the top of my list.
Strider definitely needs to make a comeback. He's one of the Capcom "all-stars" that has been left to obcurity. And COME ON, he's freakin BADASS! He acts like a badass and looks like a badass. He should be starring in a game like MGS's Raiden or the new Ninja Gaidens.
Brave Fencer Musashi, I love the game. The second one was a little lackluster(which probably put the nail into the franchise). Though, interestingly enough, it was cool back then when Square actually was trying their had at new IPs, and Brave Fencer Musashi was a great, fun action RPG with a whimsical world and hilarious characters! We need more of these!! Especially in this "Oh, I'm soooooo serious, grounded and gritty" world of overt realism.
Altered Beast is another title I couldn't believe they actually TRIED to revive, yet fucked it up epically. Why? It's an easy premise to get right. I guess they thought making it God of War, but with cool were-transformations wouldn't work, so they went all gene-slicing sci-fi in a contemporary setting. WTF? And from what I heard(and saw via gameplay vids) it looked like it played horribly.
Streets of Rage, hell, even a continuation of Double Dragon(after WayForward's Neon), I'd totally love. Hell, just get WayForward to revive a slew of classic brawlers. Get them to do Double Dragon Neon II, Streets of Rage(Neon... LOL, or EXTREME, given it was made in the 90s), a new Golden Axe, hell, I'd even LOVE them to do a TMNT 5(in the same vein as the Arcade and Turtles in Time, classic cartoon continuity series, similar 4th wall jokes like in Neon, bright colors, Shredder, Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang, hotty Channel 6 reporter April!! DO IT!!!!!
Mega Man Legends... sure, though I'd say Mega Man in general needs to be revived. How the mighty has fallen, and it shouldn't have happened to the Blue Bomber. The original series needs to come back(again), as does Legends. Maybe even a new X. XZ XYZ, ZBD, whatever others and the Battle Network... those could stay dead. ;D
Last, Lunar...yes yes YES! Love the series. Shame it's not as popular as it deserves. Along with defunct RPGs, I'd love Wild ARMs to make a return, Suikoden to finally come back(not in a side-story/gaiden crap deal), a REAL Shining Force game(with the original character designer, not hentai Tony Taka crap) and, really, a TRUE Phantasy Star V!
It's funny, because despite the Noid being defunct for decades, I did like the Yo! Noid game. Though, I heard it was a different game entirely in Japan, and they released it over here with the Noid and Dominos Pizza references.
Totally Rad was pretty cool, though. It oozed early 90s art style(basically colorful, exaggerated, extreme and awesome).
And yes, it astounds me how, as of recent(and I mean, at least, mid-90s to now), nobody(I mean NOBODY) has ever thought about reviving the Little Nemo franchise. The old comics are cool, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't like the movie. The games(NES and Arcade) were awesome(the arcade one was also composed by Yoko Shimomura of Street Fighter 2, Kingdom Hearts, Live A Live and Final Fantasy Versus XIII fame). Hell, even if it was a 3D Ratchet & Clank-esque adventure through Slumberland's various whimsical environments, I'd be there in line, day one!!! Also, Disney/Pixar, Dreamworks, who-ever-the-hell..... make a new Little Nemo movie!!!
Oh, the music!!! This one's probably one of my favorite video game songs of all time!
Best VGM 351 - Demon's Crest - Beyond the Colosseum (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtrFSnyvEX0#ws)
It's a shame Capcom didn't really try harder to push for this to become one of their BIG series. It certainly deserved a spot among their other iconic franchises.
Personally, these are games I'd like to add as seeing revivals:
Any of the Culture Brain games. I always loved the Ninja Boy/Super Chinese series, Magic of Sheherazade and Flying Warriors series. They basically took various genres and melded them together to create games that were more than just easily defined to ONE genre. Magic of Scheherazade was almost like Legend of Zelda meets Dragon Quest. Flying Warriors was basically side-scroller action meets fighting game meets Dragon Quest. Ninja Boy series was JRPG with some Dragon Quest like menu-based battles, as well as the majority of battles being real-time arena bout beat'em ups.

Speaking of games that were more mixtures of more than one genre, I'd love to see a revival of Bayou Billy. It was, at it's core, a beat 'em up, with both shooter and driving aspects. And DAMN, that MUSIC!!!

Others series I'd love to see revived:
Wizards & Warriors
Clash at Demonhead
Ultima(C'mon.... bring it back, and bring it back RIGHT, not as some pussy ass social game, but as a REAL WRPG).
Splatterhouse(a real 2D brawler, along the lines of the first two, maybe get Wayforward to do it!!)
Monster Party
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Lunar, Shining Force, and Mega Man.
