Title: Castlevania.com Owner needs Bopped in the Head
Post by: starstrike on March 04, 2013, 07:46:53 AM
castlevania.com  finally has content on it after decades of being registered.  But the sad part is, the content has nothing at all to do with castlevania.  Man the things I would love to do with that domain name...

Sigh..

I wonder if the owner's already been contacted by Konami about using their franchise title on a site that has nothing to do with Castlevania. This would be a good time to use the 'cease and desist' order cause if the web site isn't about Castlevania then it shouldn't use the Castlevania title. It's misleading and I hate it when internet sites mislead the surfer.

It doesnt work for website names, thats why people register before companies, so they resell to them with a high cost.

I remember reading a very amusing story about the frustration Warner Bros films felt way back in the 90s when "thematrix.com" was already registered by a mathematician so the official website for the movie series had to settle for something stupid like "whatisthematrix.com" lol. Think the mathematician might have eventually sold to them though, or maybe the trademark laws have changed.

It might be different for made-up words like "Castlevania" but even then it'd probably be a case of the trademark laws for Japan, whatever country the site is hosted on and whatever country the person who owns the site lives in. So probably too much of a hassle for Konami to want to bother with, since sadly they don't seem to care much about Castlevania or any of their franchises these days.

This is apparently the new main site.

http://www.konami-castlevania.com/ (http://www.konami-castlevania.com/)

But it's not that great either, it just takes you to the amazon pages for the games to preorder/buy them.

I would rather stick with the Japanese site. It has more content than that.
