I played through Super Castlevania IV tonight, and I found out something I never knew, despite beating it many times. In the end credits, it shows Simon swinging across a gap while throwing a knife. :o So, as soon as the credits roll, I tried it with the boomerang in Stage 1, and it worked! For years, I've been doing careful dodges while swinging, especially in the clocktower stage where this unknown ability to attack while swinging would be very useful. Is this common knowledge? How many of you knew or didn't know this?

Considering that the subweapon use button was mapped to a different button, I thought anyone's first instinct would be to try doing so once the opportunity presents itself.
-
I have played that game so many time and I have never noticed. I'll definitely have to try it out next time.
-
I knew that because of the credits, but I ever forgets about that so... yes and no lol
-
Yes, I knew about that, but never use this ability in game.
-
Knew about it, yup. The only time I've ever used it was during the clocktower segments. Dangling from the whip latches leaves me vulnerable to those axe knights so I use my sub weapons to fight them off.
-
it definitely helps with some of the platforming. i discovered it accidentally but it does help in that damn clocktower!
-
Yes.

This makes the game even better.

I actually just discovered it around 4 years ago after an ex friend left the game (along with a few others) in my possession while she ran off to Indiana with some man whore. I feel like I walked away the winner in that situation.
-
Yes. I found it largely useless, but a nice little detail.
-
Proud to say that I did.

It's a huge help in the clocktower stages as previously stated. I remember having a rough time until I discovered that little trick.

Yep, you can also jump while throwing a subweapon (press R and B right after).
Challenge: Try to kill all the Medusa Heads in the rotating room on stage 4 throwing subweapons while swinging without getting hit (you can relatch without landing to turn around if you need to).

Never tried, so I guess not.
