Title: Backwards Castlevania
Post by: Cypress on January 08, 2008, 11:04:31 AM
What if they did Castlevania backwards?
(Explanation...)
You start off the game with all your skills and the first fight is with Drac's final form. You beat him and make your way back to the entrance, fighting progressively weaker enemies and losing your skills along the way until you come to a little bone throwing skeleton outside the castle. Kill it and you have completed the game.

I understand this is stupid but if they magically did it how would you feel? (this is probably better than the topic I was going to make about Alucard crapping his pants during the final boss...)

well it depends, do you keep your level from when you start and what level do you start with?

If you keep your level at when you beat the final boss back, its stupid... if not, its still stupid, if you start with lvl 1 or something at teh final boss and can't beat it because of teh nemy' sheer power, then its stupid, but then again if you de level as you progress (or degress) its stupid.

But playing it at all willprobably make me feel stupid >.>

Well, I suppose the bulk of the merit afforded this idea must stay within the realm of concept...otherwise, it'd be a little pointless

...Yea, the point was how you would feel. Not how it would work. (Because it is a fuckin stupid thing that doesn't exist and never will)

I would probably have a "WTF" face the whole time I played it.

That actually sounds really, really cool. Start at a particular level and then level down the more enemies you kill and the further down you get.

I'd play it. Sounds nice.

Post by: Long John Silver on January 09, 2008, 04:13:14 AM
Dunno leveling down would be kinda weird and i could see people avoiding battles just to reach the end of the castle on level 99 and slaughter all of its guards with zero effort. :P

To see this concept in action would be to take a complete playthrough of Castlevania for the NES and watch it backwards.

..said the moron that quoted the wrong post.

Look, I already explained it. If you can't read or understand simple english then don't post.

I have a better idea. How about a backwards Castlevania where you start out as Dracula, but you have no powers or shit and have to recover your full power (and your castle) and then in the end of the game you have to go to Belmont's village and kill him. Oh, and steal his wife. Now that game would kick ass.

I could get on board with that. Maybe even make it a kind of parody where Dracs been evicted for not payin his rent on the castle on time and someone else moves in so he has go thru all the shit the hero normally goes thru reclaimin his powers and his castle for his own then the last "area" could be a town where the current hero lives and you have to go steal his wife or somethin to start the next real game.

Hey, Bobby, you just gave me a great idea for a CV game.  The setting: 1692.  Simon finally defeated Dracula, but now he has to get out of the castle.  You control Simon as you, well, walk out of the castle the opposite way you came in.  There are no enemies, all of the pits are closed so you can fall in, and the traps are non-operational.  When you finally get out of the castle, you win!  I'd call it CastleVania: Stroll in the Moonight.

Hmm then I would have a nice cover idea almost like escape from new york instead of those building and the statue of liberty's head it would be the castle crumbles and the clock tower clock chopped off and then Snake Belmont in the front with his whip in hand.

I don't expect someone of lower intelligence to understand, but needless to say I ALREADY EXPLAINED IT. If you can in fact read as you claim to be able to do, then go ahead and try figuring it out. If not, then continue with your pointless comments. They will be ignored.

Yea, a parody I could see them actually doing. If they did it this way nobody would be able to understand why.

Instead of a backward Castlevania, how about a castlevania that you are prisoner somewhere in the castle and try to escape, by searching for the entrance?

I'm the one with lower intelligence? I already explained to you that I fully understand your idea. However, as I said, it's stupid as hell. If anybody needs to learn to read, it's you. But don't feel bad. If it wasn't for people like you, products such as "Hooked on Phonics" wouldn't sell as well as they currently do. Unfortunately, the world needs people like you.

How the hell am I the one considered a "troll?" I asked a reasonable question and you criticized me for it because it differed from what you wanted to hear. If you know you had a shitty idea that will never come true, which you even admitted to both in your original post, then why would you want to know our opinions on how we would feel about it? If you ask idiotic questions then be prepared to deal with the consequences.

If it was as bad as it is now. If they ditched all its characters and fixed everything that was bad about it (shitty level design, awful palettes, lame script and storytelling, total moron as main hero, overly smartass sidekick who happens to know EVERYTHING that's weird in the castle from some book, stupid forced attempt at failed humor, butchered extra modes etc), and for an additional plus points have jonafag killed in the intro maybe it wouldn't be that bad. :o

Hey, jerk off, first of all, you made no mention of it not being your idea in the first place so don't bitch at me as if I was magically supposed to know. Second of all, your ignorance seems to be at an all time high. You say this is a "What if..." thread yet not an actual idea for a game. That doesn't even make fucking sense. But what makes even less sense is your "And regardless of whether it is dumb or not is irrelevant." statement. Of course it's fucking relevant when you're asking for our opinions. Your question

Oh, would everyone just shut up? Yeah, this topic was a bit moronic, but what else do you want to do? I always like those "what if" scenarios. In fact, I'll just bring one up right now! What if Death grew tired of serving Draccy and he went mad with the scythes and destroyed Castlevania so Dracula teamed up with the Belmont's and all this madness caused a dimesional rip and everyone ended up in a Bugs Bunny cartoon? Would that be interesting? I think I made my point...
Title: Re: Backwards Castlevania

I was going to respond to this by pointing out all the stupid things you said and explaining the point yet again, but quoting it is faster. Fuck off.

Dude, you keep fucking saying that you've explained yourself over and over as if I don't understand what you mean. As I already stated, this is not the case. You asked us how we would feel if one of your asinine ideas came to be and I replied. You even stated that you too agree that it's a stupid idea. In fact, here is an exact quote: "I understand this is stupid but if they magically did it how would you feel?" AND, to add insult to injury, you wrote "(this is probably better than the topic I was going to make about Alucard crapping his pants during the final boss...)" You're a moron. If you can't deal with criticism, don't post a thread asking on how we would feel if one of your stupid ass ideas came to be.

The death fights are always more fun because you have to worry about the scythes. They should have a mode where it is raining scythes through the entire game haha.
