I was wondering how the game has fared since it's release.
Does anyone here know?
If it does well we could see more of this type of Castlevania and if it doesn't...well maybe there would be a ps2 version to recover some losses.
I'm hoping it did/does well.
As far as I can tell it's not yet out in Europe at least not here in the Netherlands.

Not here either (sweden) and I can't find any official release date anywhere. The game is featured on the Konami of Europe website though, so I guess it's on its way!
Anyway, I doubt this game is doing very well. It's a 2D game for PSP.. you do the math. I hope I'm wrong though.

Only the unlockables are 2d. The main game's 3d. :o

As far as gameplay goes, that's stretching it..
But let's call it 2.5D then.

Its selling enough to not be in any stores around me.

They may not have ordered a ton of copies. Im sure it is selling ok though. Aside from the ghosting and easier difficulty it is good.

Well, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with sales, but it seems pretty popular. GameFAQ's has it listed as ne of the top ten PSP games.
-
It's sold about 100.000 units, according to vgchartz.
For the record, DOS sold about 200.000, and POR 350.000.
-
I saw it in the Japanese Charts in Kotaku or somewhere the week it got released. It was fairly high up from memory. Not sure how it went from there.

Are those worldwide figures?

wow, PoR did better than DoS? I could never have guessed.
Anyway, DXC is only out in Japan and US yet (I think) so we'll have to see what the rest of the world has to say.

okay so the figure does include both countries, man that's not very many sales. I'd think Japan alone would have more than that.

It's cuz POR is longer and tougher, DOS was too easy and short.

And, another thing about PoR, is the co-op. People say, "OMG!! I can play as two people at once!" and think this is some big special feature.

Who says? I don't think any of us know that or not. :P As for "Japan alone" selling more... I don't think the series is very big in Japan anymore, if I remember hearing correctly. It's pretty much North America that's continuing to buy the games and thus preventing the series from sinking into a watery grave.

I agree, but 100,000 is not really very many at all. The Japanese have totally different spending habits than we do a success in Japan normally consists of alot more sales than what the US considers a success. I just wish we'd stop getting short changed on the small stuff. I want a full color DXC manual like Japan got not black and white, that's way retro.

Well it's for psp so obviously. If they went with a more popular console like ps2 it would probably sell a lot better.
The ds or ps2 sold way more units than psp as far as I remember. Most people don't want to buy a handheld/console just for one game, and there being cv titles for the ds already many probably bought that, so it'd be even more money spent. :P

I'm kinda hoping they try to cultivate a CV following on the PSP, but I won't hold my breath.
Still, it makes sense releasing DXC on the PSP as it seems like the majority of the PSP's catalog consists of ports of older games. :P

They did port Silent Hill Origins to PS2, or are in the process of doing so. I have the slim hope they'll do it for DXC too.

possibly but it's gonna have to sell way more, 100,000 sales ain't gonna be incentive enough for sony to throw out more cash to port it to PS2/3. Both the GTA games were ported to PS2 as well due to their success on the PSP.

Sony wouldn't lose any money in porting because Konami would be the ones doing it.

I heard that was just a rumor. I haven't seen anything to support that, but I'll check it out.
I don't think DXC will see a PS2 port. I might be wrong, but I highly doubt it'll happen.

I think Konami is porting Silent Hill Origins already because it's selling pretty badly.
Anyways, I just hope they release the old school version for the Virtual Console.

oops, meant konami not sony duh.;D Well it just depends on Sony's mentality on the issue they pulled the plug on megaman powered up and won't be remaking the rest of the old megaman games cuz it sold really badly. >:(

Again, that's Capcom, not Sony.

SH Zero is indeed making it into PS2.
However, it doesn't mean it totally failed financially that's why it's being ported. For all I know it could be a Climax plan, not Konami. :P
Anyway, for the PSP, it's almost the first time it tied sales with the DS in Japan as of now. My logic says everybody there already have a DS, compared to the average PSP owners there, so it's a valid explanation.

Yeah I know, I keep putting sony out of habit.

If they port DXC to the PS2, then they have to release a "Castlevania Mega Collection" title at some point on both the PSP and PS2 like everyone else does, that would be awesome ^^ I think they should stick to DS for original titles and PSP for ports. That seems to be the trend really.
-
I'd prefer they moved away from the handhelds really. Sure, people say 2d isn't going to work on consoles. But then, we got odin sphere which is 2d, yet looks incredible.
Now if cv was done with such amount of detail, quality and visuals I'm sure the fact that it's 2d wouldn't hinder it from appearing on a ps2 or other popular console that doesn't require the gamer to sell his kidneys to buy it. :o

HEY. I STILL HAVE ONE LEFT. ITS OK. *hugs 360*
