Title: Who's your favorite Fire Emblem character and why?

Even though I only played Awakening, I'll allow characters from the entire series. Of course you'll need to explain why you like said character since I won't know who it is if it's from the older games.

It's so hard for me to choose right now. I haven't seen anywhere near all the support conversations (there's a LOT). But just character concepts in general... It's a bit of a toss-up between Gregor and Noire.

Gregor is so care-free. And everything's about money for him. His support dialogue with Lon'Qu reveals his true identity (just stumbled upon that part of the story by accident). And you gotta admit, he has some of the best jokes in the US game.

“Is that big, Legendary weapon, or are you just glad to see Gregor? ...Is joke, yes? Very funny! Gregor learn in cabaret. But sadly, Gregor in middle of very serious quest. No more time for japes.”
"Knowing is half the battle!"
"What a horrible night to have a curse, yes?"
"Gregor is mercenary, yes? Maybe you hire Gregor instead. True, Gregor just finish killing former employers, but still very reliable! So long as you not try to hurt little girl, Gregor will not hurt you. Also, Gregor need steady income. ...Many angry former employers."

Noire is the daughter of the twisted dark mage Tharja. Neglected by her mother who was too wrapped up in her hexes, she followed in her mom's shadow mimicking her mother's actions, trying to learn from her. Annoyed by her sniveling child, Tharja cursed Noire (see Gregor's quote) with the sniffles. To help her daughter overcome her timidness, she gave Noire a talisman to quell her fears. Whenever Noire holds the talisman, her personality changes and she takes on a monstrous attitude -- although Tharja sees through the front.

"I suppose I could use this to try and fight my way out. B-but those bandits are so strong and scary and... W-wait! My talisman! Let me just grab my talisman and then... ...... ...I AM THE FIRE AND THE FURY! ALL WHO DEFY ME WILL PERISH! REPENT, SCUM! REPENT THOUGH IT WILL SAVE YOU NOT! REPENT AND DESPAIR! BWAAA HA HA HA HA!"
"P-please, just give me... I n-need a moment... M-my talisman... Wh-where is my talisman... ...... I AM BLOOD AND THUNDER! I AM A RIGHTEOUS FURY! ...I AM YOUR FUTURE DAUGHTER!"


But yeah.... There's so much dialogue in this game and maybe 80% of it is outright hilarious, so it's hard to decide. ... Were the rest of the games in the series like this? I never paid much attention to dialogue in the one other game I played (I think it was on the SNES or something).

Like you, I've only played Awakening. Awakening was not the first time I heard of Fire Emblem though. Like a lot of people, I first really learned about it through Smash Bros. Melee back in the day. This made me buy Fire Emblem Path of Radiance on the Gamecube. For whatever reason, I never got around to playing Path of Radiance though. The only thing I did was unwrap the game. It's literally 100% mint condition on my shelf. After how much I love Awakening, I will DEFINITELY finally be playing Path of Radiance along with the other Fire Emblem games though.

I honestly can't pick a favorite character. Most of the characters have a least one thing that's likable about them and I enjoy about them. It's easier for me to pick my least favorite character....which happens to be Maribelle. Maribelle just annoys me. I think it's her rich, pompous attitude I hate.  :-X

But yeah. Favorite character...I really don't know. If I was to choose, I'd probably choose from either Lucina, Inigo, Owain,  or Gregor. Out of those, Inigo and Owain I'd choose because they both amuse me and make me laugh. Lucina for her character. She has been through so much and I respect her for it. Gregor...well, he's so nice. He reminds me of a big, lovable teddybear. Plus, he has some amusing dialogue. Plus, "What a horrible night to have a curse, yes?". Castlevania references are always nice.  ;)

I was always jealous of Roy you know that deep down the ended up together like Marth and Sheeda and that made me hate Roy till no end still do  :P

If I was a FE character I would want to S-support her  ;)

Let's see I first got into Fire Emblem back when I played an unfinished fanslation of Gaiden on the NES. A few years later, my brother found Fire Emblem 7 (just called Fire Emblem here in the U.S.) at a Gamestop on the shelf and bought it. I was so hooked I convinced him to buy his own copy and that was all she wrote for us.

As for favorite character, off the top of my head I'd say Hector is one of mine. He's brash, reckless, but loyal to a fault.

Hector: You’re not Marquess Laus’s assassins, are you? You’re too good, too professional. Nothing like those idiots over there.
Wire: You’ve no need to know, little Lord Hector. A fool like you, sneaking out of the country alone… You’ll go missing, never to return. Your body will never be found. Tidy story, eh? Ha ha...
Hector: Tsk tsk... Looks like your luck’s run out.
Wire: Our luck? What are you...
Hector: You see, I’m about as angry as I’ve ever been. I doubt that even a dozen of you could slow me down. Prepare to die!!!

Lloyd: ......Well spoken. If you don’t want to give your brother cause to mourn, you’d best fight well......Prepare yourself.
Hector: Ah!!

Linus: Hey, you! You think you’re tough, don’t you?
Hector: Tough enough to cleave you in two.
Linus: I am Linus Reed, son of Brendan Reed. You killed my brother, Lloyd! Take this! Rrraahh!!!

I've written the most about Renault from FE7 (My "Wayward Son" fanfic about him on Fanfiction.net is over 700,000 words long), but my favorite character? Hmm...ganeplay wise, it would be Sety from FE4. He's soooo awesome! Able to take out entire armies by himself with Holsety.

Story wise? Hmm...when I was younger, I liked characters who weren't that good in terms of stats, but sort of "rejected," like Geitz, Legault, and of course Renault. Nowadays? I'm not so much into Fire Emblem as I used to be...most of the characters don't seem as compelling. I guess I still have a soft spot for holy people, though. Renault, but also Father Moulder from FE8 and, oddly enough, Palmark from FE4. :o

I won't lie I love Fire Emblem ;D! My favorite characters are Oifaye from FE4 and Fin from FE4/5
Oifaye starts out as a little turd kid and bam he's grown up with a mustache! Unlike your normal paladin unit who ends up crappy he stays good. I like Finn because he's loyal to the country he serves. Also he is the most playable unit in both FE4/5.

I like a lot of characters from FE but I thought I'd only do two of them.

I've only ever played at length Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken (Fire Emblem: The Sword of Flame). The one and only character to be of real interest to me is Lyn;

Lyn is definitely in my top three. Strong girl indeed. My first FE crush  :) I think I was like 10 and I was like  :o she made me hit puberty early the official art did not help either, dem legs. ah the memories.... not to mention she was my goto lord eliwood ehh, even Hector.

Ok I don't like Lucina (FE:A), but you gotta respect the girl when you read her support dialogue with her mother. Her dialogue with Chrom was just corny ("There there, daddy's right here." ... WHAT THE DEUCE?!), but the A-support with her mom was a bit touching.
