I was looking through the magazine section, and came caross a castlevania 5 preview which stated that there would be 4 playable characters:
a whip weielding vampire hunter whos a belmont
alucard
a sword swing bounty hunter
a peasant girl
i was wondering if this was originally the premise of sotn, or whether this is speculation on egm's part.
here's a link to the article in question:

Can you post a link for this article or a scan of this preview? It sounds so fucking awesome and intresting!
-
Maybe this has something to do with Castlevania: The Bloodletting (32X), the game that evetually became SotN. I don't see any other explanation.

It's simple. EGM is full of misinformation. Always has, always will. The screens are definitely SOTN. They're speculating, with no actual proof. SOTN was never known as Castlevania 5, except for this article.
And they said that there was no Castlevanias since SCV4. They completely forgot about the outstanding Castlevania Bloodlines.
I know I sound harsh, but that article is terrible. Typical EGM.

Wow.

I had my hopes up for an awesome new CV installment for a split second.
Hehe, yeah.. me too.
And like you said, Contra 4 has technically made Castlevania 5 possible. It's obviously very unlikely though.

I don't mean to bitch and moan at the mods, but it might not be a bad idea to re-word this thread.
Done. Feel, free to bitch and moan anytime. ;)

I haven't seen the scan, i just saw it and i was left with my self saying wtf? ???

Agreed. Hey, speaking of numerical games, isnt Dracula X castlevania 10, because of the Roman numeral X for 10? That wouldn't make sense though...

Rondo actually was the tenth game in the series, but that's a coincidence. The X in the title is just an X.

Oh. I thought so. Then why did the throw an X in there? Oh well, X is just a cool number.

They also didn't mention Drac X for SNES.

Heh, you've skipped over the last sentence of the first paragraph. "Konami did release a Super NES that was regarded as inferior to the PC Engine title."

My bad I kinda just skimmed it.

Here's a pic of Alucard fighting OUTSIDE Royal Chapel for the beta SOTN.
