Me: Well, and what now?
He: What now?
Me: Yeah, what's the next game?
He: If you mean Castlevania, none
Me: I know, but how is it?, is a car game, a strategy, a shooter, a rpg....
He: Hahaha, not a car game, strategy, or a shooter, has some RPG and I will not say shit more.
Me: For the new consoles?
He: It is our intention, depends on the publishers ... in PC I can tell you almost for sure. The PC now is probably the best platform that can grow in the coming years, we have no clear what will happen with this new generation of consoles (me at least). But hey, no problem, of what we tasted, great, very simple and fast to have the games in all formats and with the same quality.
Me: Great, because I have not thought to buy any of the new consoles, well, I doubt the PS4, but, depends on the publishers?... Do not want Konami? I am very surprised.
He: Konami wants us to do something other than what we have in mind, now the subject is stationary, until after a month before lOS2 output, we will meet and see what happens. Furthermore, not only is Konami, many other publishers who were interested in us in the past year. We understand the game we want to do, I think we will reach an agreement with Konami, and if not then to find another way ... so this works.
Me: And in the company, will they fire people?
He: I have not heard anything concrete, man, he hired more than 20 people to cover specific workloads, I guess next will depend on the project and the number of platforms they leave.
Me: and you..?
He: don´t fuck, I hope not, I've been here from the beginning.
Me: Listen, you're not going to make a new Castlevania, is finished the series?
He: Yeah right, no more Castlevania, no metal gear solid and no PES (tease me) ... hahaha. If you want to know if there will be another Metroidvania and if it does japanese team... Do not know much, better ask him Dave Cox, the last thing I hear is from early this year (2012). First they had the intention to continue the old story in parallel with Lord of Shadow, but maintain two temporary lines of the same game simultaneously, never been done and no sense. After talking about going alternating the two timelines every two games for variety, the idea is not bad but on short/medium time we don´t like to make a game related to LOS, at least in the next three years. Finally they wanted to do something like Final Fantasy, where there is no definite history, there is a world related but each story is different.
Me: And the story of IGA?
He: The logical thing would be that they finalized, with one or two games, before starting this new stage in Castlevania. But really i have no idea.
Me: and the next, Is it 2D? For what formats?
He: All I know is technical, was in the working document that we received. I can tell you that will be released for portable platforms, whether it will be in 2D or 2.5D was not yet decided, will depend on the team that take the project, but I can tell you that they really liked the graphics of MoF. said nothing about it to be a Japanese team, particularly I think so, because after a game for the West now seek other to the east.
Me: Also released in Vita?
He: In the worksheet put 3DS, Vita, iOS, Android, want to seize all platforms. They do it in the Vita for the Japanese market, the next castlevania is intended primarily Japanese market, and vita is enough important in Japan (not in America / Europe).
Me: And when going out?
He: I do not know the team that gave it, Hahaha, but we were asked MoF technical material for quite some time. I think they are working on it now. if I had to go for a date ... pufff, I think the end of next year it could be perfectly ready.
Me: Great, thanks man and good luck with LOS2
He: I hope so, goodbye.
-
Hmm. Who is "he" anyways?
-
Good. Don't touch Castlevania EVER AGAIN. Thank you.
-
And while they're at it do NOT touch any other infamous franchise either. Do your own thing. Thank you.
-
Nice comments, you send it by email to Konami ....
MercurySteam was a young company with only a PC game (Jericho) of experience, looking for work, presented a technical demo, Konami gave them work and told that their game would be a Castlevania (supervised by Kojima).
What crime has he committed? For me, besides I would have liked to enjoy one classic Castlevania, have done a great spin-off with its faults like all games, but since then they have been working and desire (and incidentally, what Konami has GOOD CHEAP)
Do not kill the messenger, do not worry that you can now hate the new company, or will we be so hypocritical to do otherwise?
P. D. Castlevania was not born with IGA, we tell all those who have more than 30 years. When a Japanese company changes things okay, when you do a Westerner, is wrong, the way things are.
-
I think they were incredibly lucky to get a shot at a series like Castlevania, especially considering their lack of experience.
-
This is very interesting if it's legitimate. You should post this in the Castlevania section.
I'm all for the Final Fantasy approach, as long as they finish the old canon first.
-
Why in the castlevania section?
Is about future game of MS.... is offtopic. And is no oficial info, in only a talk with a friend that work in MS, so decide not to put "oficial" and use Gossip word...

Well, if the westerners would actually do something good and appropriate for the series, there wouldn't be a problem. There's no prejudice involved here. It's just that the westerners have not done good work with Castlevania in some of our opinions.

Then Konami has a serious problem with their "TRUE fans" because Konami does not think so and wanted to continue doing a prequel of LOS (in fact it is something that is not at all ruled out, although I would do another company and not be the next game).
We should make a petition online, I'm sure when were achieved 1,000,000 signatures, Konami would not hesitate to change their ideas and not to try to change the series. I wonder why all these Japanese companies are committed to changing their franchises, Capcom, Konami, Square Enix .... I'm sure it is a fad and has nothing to do with sales or market exhaustion symptoms.

Well, it also offers some insight in the future of Castlevania as well and some interesting behind-the-scenes information.

If you need it moved, let me know.
Right now I'm respecting the OP's desire to put it here.
Technically it is somewhat CV-related, but it's also gaming-related as they could do another franchise or their own thing.
Therefore, this probably would've fit better in Hardcore Gaming 101, as Off Topic is usually non-gaming.
Let me know what you wanna do though. I can move it to CVGeneral or HG101. ;)

Mm i never enter in "Gaming 101", but yes, no games in offtopic, yes better move it.

Interesting!!!
I hope they do get to finish IGA's timeline. /giddy
Another CV Japanese market exclusive.... really? :(
Well since this is gossip, not everything is set in stone.
But at least we know that Konami will not kill the CV franchise, yet.

I can understand their enthusiasm, but what they did, was something far away from what the series are known, only names were there. Their work would have been more accepted and appreciated, if it was like the work of Retro Studios with Metroid. They took the game in 3D, in first view perspective, but the game play mechanics, they were similar to the 2D games, enchanced to fit the new 3D enviroment and game play style. You have seen what happened when Team Ninja took the licence to make a 3D metroid, while graphics were great and the story good, the game play, was similar to ninja gaiden in some cases, resulting in disappointment of funs. While i'm not a fan of first person view, i did enjoy Metroid Prime series and you know why? Because what i've played and seen was familiar.
Now, about a new Castlevania for handheld consoles, i can't say that i am excited, because we haven't seen a console game, since CoD and since there are so many 2D games on new consoles with amazing graphics, even 2.5D, i can't feel but only disappointed from Konami, which seems to continue their old policy, releasing every new game from the old canon for the handheld consoles and not giving a chance for a new 2D or 2.5D game on home consoles. My final words?
-
Mirror of Fate reminded me of Prince of Persia on GBA. It's not exactly that I want to see in Castlevania series, but I don't mind the series going into this direction. If only they would stop using the bloody "REVENGE!!!" as primary motivation of ALL the main characters. Other than that - I'm fine with it.
I don't hate Konami, for that they are doing. Another studio working on the new Castlevania Game?! That could be good. Bergaron, thanks for sharing this... gossip with us :)
-
Well...
If this is true, this isn't good news.
As much as I'd like the canon to be continued, if the only thing they plan to do is make 1 or 2 games and finish it for good, then that is sad.
Worse than that: if they decided to alternate the two timelines, those of us who MISS SO MUCH the original timeline, we would have to ENDURE 2 or 3 years or alternate timeline each time. That means that the Castlevania kind of game we like to have, may come out every 5 years, or more.
When we used to have one per year (though that was unrealistic).
And even worse than that: they said that alternating two timelines would be illogical, so they apparently decided to establish a universe and make all unconnected stories, like Final Fantasy...
If the FF current state is the future of our beloved CV, that is the saddest thing.
I'm already imagining, no more CV characteristic soundtrack... no more sprites... no more episodes in the main timeline... no more identity (like what happened to FF)... in short, no more Castlevania.
Just a bunch or third party games with the brand attached to them, with nothing to do with each other, and nothing to do with the original canon. And with this I don't mean just Iga games, but everything from year 1 to year 25.

For your information, MercurySteam is already working on his next project, which is a game currently only for PC. I am not authorized to give information, but Castlevania is not part of the future of MercurySteam. Link with Konami ends this year with Lords of Shadow 2. Expect great from it.
Not good for the studio when our own fanbase gives misinformation.

I don't know if you are talking to me or to the OP, but whatever, I don't care.
If you have contact with the MS stuff, just keep them away from Castlevania or from any other beloved franchise.
They have proved to have certain talent for certain kind of things. Let them do that.

Why did I never heard of this tread? Dear bergaron thanks a lot, I like the "final fantasy" approach AFTER the conclusion of Iga's story.
And if you have more info it'd be welcome :D

Shes cute and probably has tsundere tendencies :)

Haha! It's not a diaper, it's a kind of womandress from medieval times. It was the underwear of that times (actually, they wore lots of clothes, layers upon layers, but that was kind of the... panties?... IDK).
Anyway, as much as I'd love a MetroidVania with Kokoro, I would just die of happiness if they announce a sequel to Curse of Darkness with Angela and Little Witch as playable characters ♥

...So why she is using it in the future? :o
-
Because it's a parody... I guess. We should ask Iga.

They are bloomers. (The Japanese interpretation of it)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloomers_(clothing)#Bloomers_in_Japan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloomers_(clothing)#Bloomers_in_Japan)
The game's characters were all students from St. Gradius Academy, so it's a no brainer to include PE bloomers. Hehehe. ;)
-
Oh, so we are talking about these physical education outfits, no one said it before here, anyone that have watched anime should know what that is lol
Since I didnt have seem Kokoro outfit yet, I dont knew nothing about it.

Here's what look like ancient underwear:

I know how typical bloomers are, what type of filthly casual you think I am?! (j/k)
But I didnt knew about the new models, also why Gesshi Hanafuuma isnt getting ANY attention? I've discovered her by accident in the credits that I've watched in youtube, here is a print:

^Bonus print^ Kokoro preparing to invade Castlevania
I heard some musics from Kokoro's stages and then thought "shit, this sounds like a castlevania game" and then checked wikipedia and saw that Michiru Yamane is the composer lol
Now I want so badly to play this game :(
Someone can be gentle enough and paste here some information about Julius being her brother? CV Wiki says that he is her younger brother, but Wikipedia says that Julius his her older brother and forces she to finish her studies to become a Vampire Hunter.
I know that she is born in 1995 if CV Wiki is correct, then Julius his obviously her older brother, by that and knowing that these events happens in 2011 according to CV Wiki as well, this should be considered a Alternate Universe... Why? Apart from it being a parody, in 1999 lost his memories and doesnt know his real name until 2035. That means that no one said its real name to him, maybe to obscure his past as a Belmont so he could live a normal life. Theres more, if he doesnt know anything about his past, even if he lived with Kokoro, he couldnt force she to graduate and then became a Vampire Hunter.
My final strike: Kokoro is in front of Castlevania, so its impossible in the normal timeline, since its sealed until 2036 atleast, he should have more than 41 years in this image then.
This dont add anything for anyone, are only random thoughts and facts that I wished to post here.
edit: Checked Gradius Wiki and Julius is really her older brother.
edit2: Wow, Konami Lady is in this game?!

The Otomedius franchise features very good soundtracks, and playing with Kokoro in particular is something special.

Just before the release of PC LOS1 on August 27, will give details of who is one of the new Belmont
I guess they will do to increase the hype and sales up LOS1 ... marketing...
-
@Lelygax
Supposedly, it's not outright stated Kokoro and Julius are related. I base this on an edit someone made to the CV wiki, but I can't verify it myself. My theory: Kokoro is 16 in 2011, meaning she was born around 1995. Because of this someone wrongly included the unnamed brother is Julius. This makes no sense because Otomedius clearly doesn't take place in the same world as Castlevania.

Really? How do you know this?
-
Really? I played the entire game already thinking she was Julius' sister, and I liked that! :(
-
Ah, Phil, could you perhaps be so kind to take a screenshot of Kokoro's entry in "Gallery mode"? Supposedly, this is where it says/implies Julius is Kokoro's brother. Then we can find out for sure!
-
No problem! :) But it will take a while.
I'm writing it down on my phone notes so that I can remember to do it when I go to my mom's house, because I have the X360 in her home (well, she bought it, in fact), so I have something to play when I go to sleep there (in my house I'm playing PC and PS3 right now on the weekends). I'll do it as soon as I can.

Yet she is a Belmont, thats why I said that my reasoning isnt to be taken SO seriously, we are talking about a parody.
Also I've read it in Gradius wiki and in Wikipedia that Julius is her older brother, not only in CV Wiki.
