Title: Yaoi in a Nintendo Wii game? (Spoilers)
Post by: Pfil on June 11, 2013, 03:04:46 AM
Yes, that's right  :P
Fangirls, may I have your attention, please?
I was calmly playing and enjoying Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon (a kind of nice survival game with anime look), when, all of a sudden, the male lead character was suddenly kissed by the second chapter male villain, who at that point confessed also that he wanted to be his friend.
Yes... two men, kissing, in a Nintendo game.
The male character was like  :o
And then he was like  :)
And at first I was like  :o
But then I was like  ;D
So... yeah...
That's right girls.
I don't know how this story continues, but it seems that anything goes  :)

Wait!? What!?
Damn... I need a Wii! hehehe.

Ohohoho! ♥
Fragile Dreams - Kiss Scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9D_V9mxlxk#ws)

Well, technically a kiss between boys is not yaoi unless sex happens, so you can just classify it as shounen-ai.

Does it even count considering...

...?

BTW, this is actually one of my absolute favorite games on my Wii.

You can play it in HD with your Wii controller using your PC, and using the Wii just for motion detection.

I guess that, technically, that is correct.

I guess it counts anyway.
Do you like yaoi?... teeheh, nah, just kidding  :P

There's no sex on this.
Therefore it's Shounen-Ai, no?

Another game that showed some yaoi was CV CoD. When Issac kisses Trevor's cheek just after stabbing him. Some would argue that this is nothing more then a F-you to the hero from the villan, but Issac is already "there" in terms of looks and actions. What was kojima thinking..? *shakes head* I hope we don't see this in another CV game ever as I find it doesn't suit the series. It might work for other games, but not CV. And Nintendo actually had the balls to put in some yaoi action? That's a little surprising. But then again it should come as a surprise since there have been male to female couples in past games sharing kisses with one another.

That's what surprised me. The fact that it is a Nintendo game.
It wouldn't have been if it were Sony, where I've already seen pretty much everything.
As Shiroi and Jorge said, I guess it's technically shounen-ai. But no less surprising... and nice  :)

So... I see most of the fans don't like Isaac.
Let's have some fun here  :P
(the fanfiction fangirl in me wakes up again)

What if (just... what if) the 1999 game finally comes out, but the story's epilogue reveals an aging Julius coming out of the closet? He's telling his son and his grandson the truth... he married to continue the Belmont legacy, but he was secretly in love with (insert partner name here).
How would that feel?

Or, on the other hand...
What if, for example, Lords of Shadow would have depicted a flashback scene on which Sypha falls to Carmilla's temptation? (and we guess the rest just by sounds, looking at candles, like in GoW).

I don't see how homosexuality appeals to some women in terms of yaoi and shounen-ai.
It seems to be a mostly geared towards animefan/gamingfan women, too.

As far as I know, most women are not interested in such things, but women who are into gaming/anime/etc. seem to be particularly interested.
I do not understand why that would be, though.

I don't know... I guess it's just the way it is.
I'm attracted to that kind of stuff, and I'm a huge fan of anime and games. So I guess I prove your point.
Being interested in girls also, I'm also interested about girl on girl stories.
I find it sexy and very, very interesting.
But why is that? I don't know...
Send in Freud  :P

Is it not true also that most guys usually find lesbian stories attracting?
That would be the other side of the coin, perhaps.

I personally think that the Boy's Love fanbase is full of women who are into anime/manga and games.
And yup, I belong to that category. Ah... Ikebukuro.... I miss Otome Road.....
We need Freud.  ;D

Uhm... don't they prefer Hentai?
Yuri, I think, is the least of the pairings that would have a following.

We just have active imaginations.  Makes things in various styles more appealing to us than the average person, I think.  ;)

Don't even bother with Freud. He's a glorified quack. He literally made a career of extorted wealthy women out of their money on the request of their greedy husbands, and they all found themselves in mental institutions when they were not crazy to begin with. You don't need Freud. You can do much better then him  :)

In terms of Guy on Guy yaoi or shounen-ai, I don't have any interest in it at all despite that I like watching anime. Even if it's girl on girl or Hentai for that matter, I still don't really show much interest or obsession over it. I'd much rather watch an anime where the story is paramount. Filled with great characters and a great solid theme that grabs you and holds on till the very end. And while it's true that there are some Ecchi and Hentai stories out there that have proven themselves to be good, I just find that the whole sexual tone overshadows those stories in most every way rendering those shows/games as more masturbation material and a bit unrealistic (story-wise) then anything else.

Oh, I love lesbians. Always fun times. Especially with the ones that slant in the 'bi' direction when they drop their "inhibitions".

Thanks!  :)

I guess that might be true for some anime shows.
But in comedy, the ecchi component generally adds more fun in great quantities, and some great laughs, at least to me.

I do have a very active imagination. Sometimes a little too much, perhaps  ;)

;) -ditto-
I guess generally anime fans like H, but common guys prefer to watch girl on girl instead of traditional "movies".
But I could be wrong.

Speaking for myself, I always find these kind of love stories between the same sex way more interesting that traditional ones.

My mother watches guyxguy porn.  I'm not kidding. She complains that they need better plots. :P

And I agree. Ecchi is fairly light on the sex scale of anime. I've seen plenty of anime with ecchi in it and it does add to the humor of said shows. But Hentai on the other hand is fairly, if not heavy on the sex scale where the stories become lost in translation or there is really no story to begin with. And yes I do watch Hentai from time to time but only if I'm in the mood for it  :-[  And I'm usually very selective about the type of hentai that I might enjoy too.  :-[ :-[

There's no shame on that, I've been watching (mainly reading doujinshis) since I was a teenager.
And I'm selective too  ;)

I also am selective since not everything that comes out of the market is good.
And things with lots of sex typically have no plot.

I agree with that.
That's why I always prefer ecchi.

Halfway through the game, and nothing more happened in terms of ecchi / shounen-ai / etc., with the only exception of a catgirl covered only by a super-hyper short dress with very revealing parts on it.
But nothing (so far) about the male lead character exploring that side of his feelings.
It seems he will go for the girl, after all.
Poor Crow  :'(

That's pretty common nowadays in anime/manga.  Writers ship-tease a gay pairing and then will usually have one or more of the following happen:
1. One of the two dies/is taken out of the equation altogether.
2. One of the two ends up with someone else.
3. It's just never mentioned again.

Mirai Nikki springs to mind immediately. Heck, one could argue that Castlevania has touched on this.

That is why if you really like a gay pairing and hate the official tease-neglect-heartache, go for the doujins or fanfictions. hehehe.

Heehee... Totally.
But it would have been nice to see one of those endings on a game.

That's the thing that kind of annoys me. They tease us and then they can't do it because "it's not right" or whatever they think, I don't know.
Castlevania? In my mind always  :P
But in a game... I've been thinking but I can't figure it.
When was it?

You bring up a good point.  Games, unlike books or movies, can easily incorporate alternate endings without it feeling contrived or having it break the flow.

Maybe it's just my shipper goggles but I got serious ho yay vibes from Juste and Maxim to the point where it felt like Lydie was written in purely as an attempt to avoid following through, like I stated above. XD

Other one (and this one is more obvious, imo) is from the radio drama.  Don't see how anyone could read that and not get that vibe from Lyudmil.  Only thing that would make him more obvious would be if he tattooed "Please screw me Master Alucard" across his forehead. And again, what happened to Lyudmil?

We all know the reason why. sigh....
Maria should have been the one that died. (I'm in a shipping mood, so forgive me)

Maria should have been the one that died. (I'm in a shipping mood, so forgive me)

I'm with you on this, though for more than just shipping reasons. I don't like Maria's character and more than that, it would make for a better story if Maria had died or better yet, if she had come to the conclusion that a relationship between the two of them would not work out because of Alucard's hang-ups over his own blood and her inability to even begin to understand him as a person.

AlucardxLyudmil is just the really, really big bonus on top of that.  ;D
