Nah, just kidding :P
I don't like it. At all.
But I believe there's a good game waiting to be remade for a better platform, in need of some additions, reformings, more polished sprites and soundtrack...
Does anyone actually really like it?

EDIT: Err oops. Misread the thread title. Points still stand though!
It's a great game that corrected many things, and showcased a vast improvement in IGA's formula.
- Outside areas to explore, as well as a whole castle
- Returned the feel of Castlevania difficulty
- Streamlined and picked up the pace with combat
- Corrected "millions of swords" syndrome
- Found a middle ground between weapons and the tactical soul system, merging into one with the MP bar
- Amplified the importance of elemental types and strategy, somewhat downplayed the role of leveling up
- Got rid of the ill fit and crappy anime art
- "Emerald Forest" "An Empty Tome" "Ebony Wings" "Sapphire Elegy" "A Clashing of Waves" "Rhapsody of the Forsaken" "Dissonant Courage" and "Sorrow's Distortion" just to name a few
- Shanoa, strong female lead, great design, cool powers
Etc, etc, etc.
-
Uhm uzo, it is not Order of Ecclesia which is a good game.
Order of Shadows is the cellphone game. Sorry, even if I have it, I don't like it.
-
Oh. Oops. My eyes read one thing, my mind another. That's what I get for staying up till 5am I suppose.
Yeah, Order of Shadows pretty much just sucks.
Point still stands though on OoE >_>
-
LOL I knew something was amiss when uzo said
- Got rid of the ill fit and crappy anime art
knowing that we were playing as Seth Green Belmont

It's shit.

The only thing i have to said about it, is that i'm really curious about the arranged soundtrack of the game, it was made by a source outside Konami and there was a member here, who has gotten it, but he told me that he couldn't share it here, because he was trusted with it, by the person who has made it.
-
The arranged soundtrack sounds interesting.
Why would anyone make a soundtrack and decide not to share it with the public when there's no copyright involved?
I don't get it.
I supposed uzo was talking about another game, and I confirmed when I read Shanoa.
It's OK uzo! ;)
I love OoE, just look at my game under my user name.
It's my 2nd favourite CV ever :)
-
He who ever is, he made the soundtrack for the game and then Konami used their technology and digitized it for the game, so either it has copyright from Konami or the person who made it, doesn't want to share it, like the one who has the betta version of bloodlines and told that he will never make a rom of it.
-
I actually didn't mind it. I mean, we're talking about a cell phone game here, I think expecting miracles is silly. But I think with some additions, it could actually be a pretty decent game. If anything, i was just happy to have a CV game on my phone at the time, although now being able to have a good portion of the CV library on a smartphone via emulators pretty much blows that away.
-
I was also happy. I bought a phone to play the game, but I simply suck playing with phone keys, so I had to emulate it with a Java emulator, which kind of made the purchase of a phone and the game pointless.
And I didn't expect much, but anyway I felt disappointed.
I still see that the game can be remade for a better platform (or even for today's phones) and become a good game.
I'm glad someone agrees with that :)
-
Actually it would be kinda cool to see Konami remake thr game for iOS and Android. Knowing them though they'd cheap out, although I enjoyed Castlevania Puzzle quite a lot. They really need to do a real CV game for IOS.

Classic Castlevania gameplay will not translate well at all to a touch input only system. If they want to capitalize on Castlevania for mobile platforms they need to make a game from the ground up that works intuitively with touch, but has the same emotional elements the series is known for.
Something like "Castlevania The Arcade" would nicely qualify for this actually. Nothing else comes to mind particularly, but I haven't given it much thought.
-
I really like the gothic atmosphere in this game. It's better than in some of mainline titles like Dawn or Portrait.

Daring Assault - Stage 1 - The Order's Mansion - Castlevania: Order of Shadows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrvcxatvH30#)
Resting Again - Title Screen - Castlevania: Order of Shadows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU-K8YG3tss#)

I play classic CV games all the time on my iPhone. Some are harder to get used to than others but with the right aspect ratio options and button options, it's really not that difficult to get used to.
I agree though, something built from the ground up with a touch screen in mind would be perfect, but it's not hard playing the older games on a touch screen.
-
How did you download classic CV on your iphone? They only have the puzzle game on the AppStore.
-
His iPhone is jailbroken (hacked), as is mine ;D

It's not that it's hard, it's that it's shit/bad. Having no feedback is fucking ridiculous.
-
I play games on my phone but I use my Wii Remote as a controller.
Yes, I carry a Wii remote in my bookbag sometimes. >.>
It also works with my tablet. Way better gaming experience than using the touchscreen.
-
As I've said before, the setting and characters have a lot of potential. The platform it was on, well... what everyone else already said is descriptive enough.

Well it's certainly not for everyone but I enjoy being able to play, say, Rondo whenever I want to. It took a little getting used to but its a small price to pay for being able to play it on the go without having to carry a PSP or whatever.
-
I mean Desmond isn't all that bad right? How many other belmonts were given an opportunity to kill Drac pressing numbers?
-
Hmm, maybe something like Sisters Mode from Portrait of Ruin would translate ok into a touch phone interface?
-
Order of Shadows looks like something I would have loved to have on my Game Gear back in the day.

Exactly. I'd love to see this remade for, say, PSN.
And by the way, great remixes Jorge! :) +1
