Title: LOS Ultimate Edition PC - Steam - 22,49€
Post by: Bergaron on July 30, 2013, 05:01:31 PM
Not bad, I expected 19.99, but is still very good price, Konami can easily sell another 200k copies.

Would totally get it if I had a PC capable of doing it. *sigh*  :-\

Test the demo

I5 2500k
4gb Ram
Geforce 5600 TI

Perfect at full HD, 60fps, 8xAA. Wonderfull. But play it with xbox controler (keyboard suck...)

The game was adapted to PC by Climax (i say this in other post but forgot the name) not MS (too busy..). (Perhaps next CV team...???)

Only two bad things.
- Prerenderer scenes have the old consoles resolution (now are ugly if you compare with the gameplay...)
- If you wand to play in Japan (like me..) you must download the japan demo of steam... this demo is for Eu/Usa, no japan language.

So its the same game but with much better FPS and resolution, the 2 DLC, and THE BEST posibility of MODS...

Actually the fact that cutscenes not being affected really sucks. Those were the scenes with the best frame rates XD. Would love to see it in motion though  :o

Watching the game played on a stream and holy shit it's like night and day at 60 FPS. Mercurysteam (or rather Climax) did good with this port. Just wish it wasn't the same demo the consoles got, can't wait to see the other area's. If this demo is any indication, LOS2 on PC will be amazing.

If only the pre rendered cutscenes weren't still 24 fps though..

Holy crap, just played the demo. Was NOT expecting to get full FPS with maximum graphics on my PC... and my PC is at least 4-5 years old. Most PC ports of console games run like garbage for me, so seeing 60 FPS with this really threw me off guard.

Yeah I haven't seen a PC port this well optimized since DMC4.

W o w.

This game looks so much better at 60 FPS. Great port, can't wait to see how LoS2 looks on PC too.

So when people actually experience the game at 60fps, somehow frame rate is a valid and noticeable thing again? But oh no, when it's concerning the console release of LoS and MoF, "frame rate doesn't matter at all" and "you cant tell the difference".
Title: Re: LOS Ultimate Edition PC - Steam - 22,49€
Post by: Lelygax on July 31, 2013, 12:16:19 AM
Uzo have a point, when he said about MoF framerate everyone said that its not that bad and that he was nitpicking, In my case I dont think that I would notice these changes, my eyes arent so sharp for that (I didnt have noticed changes in this "HD" thing on TVs until now) but these persons that noticed that now can surely notice framerates.

Anyone know if this has a benchmark? I don't really have the space to spare for even the demo but I wanna know how well it would run.

People will always try to justify what they bought, even if it's shit.

Seriously, what a bunch of idiots. Of course the game run like crap on consoles. The difference is like night and day.

The demo was very shitty, as expected. It's good to see how the game run, but it's from the worst part of the game, the first chapter (and the second). But the game runs really well on my almost 6 year old PC (GTS250, QuadCore 2.33GHz, 4GB DDR3).

Anyone know if this has a benchmark? I don't really have the space to spare for even the demo but I wanna know how well it would run.

Requirements

Minimum:
 OS:Windows XP – Service Pack 3
 Processor:2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
 Memory:1 GB RAM
 Graphics:Direct X9 compatible video card 512Mb Ram
 DirectX®:9.0
 Hard Drive:15 GB HD space
 Other Requirements:Broadband Internet connection
Additional:Keyboard or Xinput compatible Joypad for control

Recommended:
 OS:Windows 7 or higher
 Processor:Quad Core CPU
 Memory:2 GB RAM
Graphics:Direct X11 compatible video card with 1024Mb Ram
 DirectX®:11
 Hard Drive:15 GB HD space
 Other Requirements:Broadband Internet connection
Additional:Keyboard or Xinput compatible Joypad for control

Basically, it can run on a toaster. It's very well optimized so you shouldn't worry if you have a decent rig.

I'm excited about this! We're still about a month out from release, though aren't we? So 22.49 Euros is what, $45 American?
Title: Re: LOS Ultimate Edition PC - Steam - 22,49€
Post by: KaZudra on July 31, 2013, 05:27:58 AM
Runs at 60 fps on maxed settings on my rig (then again it can run Crysis 3)
Demo gives you the first 2 levels rather than 1.
The Seamless cut-scene to game-play is gone, Like Batman AA the game looks better than the cut-scenes.
60fps is very VERY noticeable, Just blocking is now a breeze

Port is 9/10, worth the money.

I have
Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 2.00ghz
8gb ram
GeForce 9600M GT

I do not own any console so this is very big thing for me :) Right now I am hooked on Castlevania Curse of Darkness, then I will go and play LoI at 100% and I hope after I am done the full game will be released and I will play LoS :) :) :)

Ahhh so happy!!!

The only thing left for me is to buy 3DS XL for Mirror of Fate :)

I play with a XBOX PC controller, 0 problems here..

It´s almost imposible play a hack and slash with keyboard...

Not buy a 3DS only for MoF, MoF will launch on HD in 2013...for sure... (mmm MoF don´t like it me much... mm 6.5-7.0/10, but it´s fine for 12 hour.. a normal game, the only interest is the history).

Yeah I guess playing with the XBOX controller is the best solution. But I had those lags while using the keyboard, which is pretty weird.

MotionJoy to make a modded Xinput to recognize your PS3 or any other controller
replace the one with your game (most likely has one)
????
PROFIT!!!

if not Lelygax's suggestion for Joy2key works too.

Be carefull, desactivate "Vertical Sync" in many games, in some PC, if you activate Vertical Sync opcion you have input lag. In my PC no problem, in mmorpg (like wow etc.., all the player desactivate this option..) try to desactivate.

With a PS2 controler you can plug in in a PC with a adaptar but first you must configure it in Panel Control of Windows.
PS3 Controler no idea

That what modders are for. They can't wait to get their hands dirty with this, and I can't wait to see how they'll handle this title, bringing it much closer to the CV we know then what Mercurysteam was able to do.

Yeah I know I always have it turned off. I guess it must be because I'm used to playing with a controller, and not a keyboard. Also I tried Xpadder to configure my gamepad. It works but the lag is still there.

Btw does anybody know how to check the FPS on the demo? Is there an option or a shortcut?

PS3 Controler no idea

I've been able to play PC games with my HRAP3SA and a GameStop Afterglow controller for PS3 with no problems. With a standard PS3 controller I wasn't able to get it to work although i only really tried once and I plugged it in. I've heard there are ways to get a PS3 controller to pair with a PC using Bluetooth though.

@bergaron: A little off topic but can you confirm with any of your "sources" the HD port of MoF?

There are no sources for HD MoF, only the overwhelming logic of profits, shareholders and business rules. will be HD version for the simple fact that ALREADY MADE. 0 cost = profit.
When taken out and in what format? that's debatable, But surely they drew. There is a rule in business, earn all the money you can ..

I think him out in 2013? why? to seize the end saga LOS, we have the LOS1, year-end LOS2, the buyers who are fans of collecting (although MoF is not a very good product) buy everything to have the pack. Delaying the release MoF HD to much since LOS2 (eg, the end of 2014) would be lost much of the psychological factor of collection. And MoF (by itself) is not good enough to sell (need the factor Pack, colecction..).

If you analyze it coldly ..

But regarding your question, NO, no one has confirmed that it will take (but neither have denied me XDDD)

To understand the current game industry have to think like an investor broker, not as a fan and lover of video games. That's how deciciones taken big companies.

Some very small companies like MS are still capable of making decisions against the market (not keep doing LOS), but soon get heavy capital investments by investors to cover the huge costs of developing for XBone and PS4, then they lose the ability to make decisions .. happened to the greatest as Blizzard (Activision....)

Having said that ... when MoF in HD launch, I think if i buy it or not, for 10 euros or less YES, NO more money.
Title: Re: LOS Ultimate Edition PC - Steam - 22,49€
Post by: KaZudra on August 03, 2013, 07:37:05 AM
Knowing how games are usually promoted to the sequel, and MoF's recent price drop, we can expect it between the releases of LoS Ultimate edition and LoS2, that is just pure speculation though.

But what we do know for sure is that 1. It exists and its done, and 2. Its release is inevitable.

Mirror of Fate HD with a much improved frame rate will help the combat flow better but also I think there things they can improve on MOF without putting too much development time.
a) More types of powerups: In Mirror of Fate it felt like exploration was very easy because you didn't really have an effort to find items. I would say for expand on putting more items and powerups and put effort in finding them.
b) Expand Trevor part: Trevor section could been best one but was too short and had two QTE bosses. Fix the two bosses to make them playable and make Trevor section longer.
c) Put some bonus content: Boss Battle Mode and gaining 100% should allow a special feature in game maybe the ability to play as a character or get bonus costumes.

It would be an economic problem, break the exclusivity deal with Nintendo that unites them until March 2014 (apparently true).

But Nintendo needs support of third companies and I guess you could reach an agreement in exchange for some version of some game from Konami .. or paying the penalty of the agreement.

Its basically Joy2key or Xpadder but instead of mapping to keyboard + mouse, you map to Xbox Controller, spitting out a custom Xinput file that recognizes your controller as an xbox controller.

I'm actually seeing more and more Wii-U Pro Controllers using this method
