Title: Rise of The Triad, how remakes should be.
Post by: KaZudra on August 07, 2013, 04:56:11 AM
Rise of The Triad Got a Reboot, but long and behold, unlike GoldenEye, RoTT doesn't get the CoD clone Treatment.
RoTT gets modern features, Such as Iron sights, but doesn't need it, also every stage has been slightly altered but with the original design in mind, just don't expect to push on walls.
Soundtrack was completely redone, but with an option to play the original incarnation of the music with the Classic Option.
with insane Detail in the Graphics, The Ludicrous Gibs remain, the game Feels like the RoTT, only more Crazy.
This Game is a love letter to the Classic PC game Community, I hope other Apogee or even other Classics get this Treatment, it is a Remake that retains the very heart and soul of the original whist giving new modern features without gutting out the old stuff which made the game fun in the first place.

Not to sound like an advertisement, this game is hard, but it pushes you, Nostalgia Goggles Off its still a great game (Since I only remember the 1st episode of RoTT, Shareware Rocks!)

Rise of The Triad is Purchasable with Steam or GoG.

Sounds promising. I'll probably give it a go once I finally get around to playing the original.

Updating things a bit while retaining what made the original so good is what I like to hear. That GoldenEye remake really was a steaming turd; after playing with it a couple hours, I popped in the N64 game and that was an infinitely more enjoyable experience. I don't care that it feels old compared to modern FPSs; I like old school FPSs and find many of the newer ones kind of boring and difficult to control. S'why series like Serious Sam and BioShock rock so much because they bring back that old feel. Quake is bar none the best FPS ever, so hey, make every game control like that, lol.
