So, I was ripping sprites and found THIS.
I've checked the wiki bestiary now and she really doesnt exist in this game http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Adventure_ReBirth_Bestiary (http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Adventure_ReBirth_Bestiary)
I've found some conversation about that here now, we should check this and discover more things IMO
http://tcrf.net/Talk:Castlevania:_The_Adventure_ReBirth (http://tcrf.net/Talk:Castlevania:_The_Adventure_ReBirth)
They have this sheet here too http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Medusa/Gallery (http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Medusa/Gallery) so maybe someone with experience in wikis should add this trivia in the main CV ReBirth article.

Whaaaaat. Holy crap, Medusa? That looks like part of her sprite from Portrait of Ruin too.
-
Yes, but this one seem more menacing and well animated, if they have a similar shading we can mix these 2 in a fangame or something like that and it will rocks lol
Found it by accident, since it was in the same sheet from Medusa Heads (dolphin dumps all sprites automatically when you see them in-game if you check a option, in sheets, with correct color AND png format, its like magic xD )

I don't know what it is about the Rebirth artwork, but the enemy sprites in general just look so cheesy and non threatening.
That and the level designs have always bugged me about that game.
-
It definitely shares a bit with Bloodlines I think in terms of sprites, which I don't think it necessarily a good thing, but ReBirth is a decent little game.
That's a cool find Lelegax! I wonder if she was meant to be a main boss or a mini boss? They have all the other bosses from CV1 except the mummies in the game so it would have made sense for Medusa to be there.
-
Awesome! I would have loved a secret boss like that. Looks very cool. Honestly, ReBirth's tactical level design shines best in its harder settings, and, despite its modest budget, it was the last Castlevania game to really give me a sense of pure joy.

I love to play rebirth from time to time, I still can't pass 4th stage. It kicks my ass. Yep, that's a true Classicvania for me.
-
@Ahasverus: 5th stage is even harder, since its huge and you can easily run out of time in this stage.
@Montoya: Yeah, they are kinda cheesy, but some are cool like Zeldo (sickle thrower), Death and its cool to see Dracula without a cloak at least once. IMO this Medusa have a better face than in PòR, since here we can see their open eyes while in PoR looks like she is sleeping.
@DoctaMario: I think she would be a miniboss like The Creature and Phantom Bat. It seems that she would be a floating head without body like in CV1. That huge ball in the sprite-sheet can mean that we would fight her in a dark area (this ball seems to be a light effect).
@RichterB: Yeah it would be awesome, when I discovered it I've searched everywhere if its possible to find her in-game :)

The reason why her eyes were closed is because whenever she opens them, she uses her glance spell on you. It does make sense from analytical point of view as no one can look into Medusa's eyes without being turned to stone.

Its not her eyes, its her face IIRC. If you look at Medusa's face you turns into stone in the mythology.
