Post by: Dremn on August 27, 2013, 12:03:00 PM
Just came out today, figured someone would make a thread about it eventually.

Feel free to post gorgeous screencaps here.

Downloading. I've played on PS3 but not the DLC (I saw them on youtube), let's see if it's as hard as they say in Paladin difficulty.

We'll see if someone can make mods (it is difficult in LOS (close engine..), it is easier in LOS2 ..)

I know that several people mentioned they want to do a music mod.

The challenge with that; however, is finding enough music for the game that doesn't clash with each other.

Also downloading. Been looking forward to this even though I've 110%'ed the PS3 version.

Paladin mode is only difficult because enemies take off a lot more when they hit you, at least that was my impression. I'll probably do a run in normal mode to get all the moves/gems and then hit up Paladin mode. There are a few of those trials though that I'm not really looking forward to.  :-X

actually, you can`t play on paladin on your first playthrough, you should beat the knight difficulty fisrt.

Yeah I know. Playing Paladin mode without getting the gems and such first would be suicide anyway! xD

Man, this game is beautiful! It feels a lot faster too running at 60fps. I immediately noticed a difference between this and the PS3 version.

I'm gonna wait till loS2 is out and has been for a while. they are bound to make a collection with all 3 later down the road. i'll get it then.

Or next summer if Steam decides to put it on sale. I already have and beat it on the 360, so im hesitant to buy another copy, even if it comes with the DLC and plays better..

Right now I'm stuck on the Final Battle with the forbidden one, so I went back and started grabbing all the upgrades before facing him again (last time was no magic and half life, went straight through since fighting Satan)
Also perfecting Just Guard works wonders on the harder monsters making them much easier than my 110% run (no DLC) on the 360 version

If you guys want I can post some screens (1080p or 4k, and even downscale)

I'm blowing through the game. It's so easy playing it on Normal again after getting through Paladin mode.

A lot of users on Metacritic and other sites are complaining about the low quality textures, framerate issues and fixed camera.
Is it true or are they overreacting because it is PC and they want it to look like the latest games?
I'd like to believe that with 3 years to do it, the port was rightfully done.

Well the game had a fixed camera to begin with so they can EABODs on that one. As for the frame rate, I'd bet that's due to underpowered hardware. Thr game runs great and looks fantastic on my i5 laptop.

Far as modding the soundtrack, I wonder if you couldn't just find and replace thr sound files...

What the fuck are they playing this game on to get frame-rate issues?
The optimization for the PC version is amazing
Low-Quality textures? are they playing this game on an AMD with defective drivers?

I think they just coughed up the old reviews and regurgitated it back, LoS on PC was a drastically better experience than the consoles...

Some people just can't get over hating something.
Or their PCs or eyes are really bad.

I don't know what they are playing it in, but if I remember correctly the graphics were technically very good for the PS3, so there's no way a version that is 3 years newer would have low quality textures.

@DoctaMario: Did you find a way of modding the soundtrack?
If you figure out something, please tell me! I'm dying to try it with other CV games' music and some random mix I might made from Soul Calibur and other games!

The game looks and plays fantastic. There are some bugs in the game, and the problems with the camera and hit boxes is still there. All in all, an excelent port.

The only major issue I have with this port is the control scheme. I don't understand why the Triple Shock controller that works natively with EVERY OTHER current game I own, DOESN'T work with LoS without me having to use Joy2Key. And normally it's not a big deal, but it makes the movement controls a pain in the ass when you need really....Ah hell I can't think of the word. There are times when I want to only move just a tiny bit and I wind up moving too much because I'm emulating a button press with the analog stick rather than having the game read the actual movements from the stick itself.

Not really. The game supports XBOX360 controllers and drivers. Anything besides that isn't in their power at all, they didn't promise that the game would work with every type of input out there.

Playing with the keyboard is a big pain in the butt. Hopefully, Cox said LoS2 had keyboard+mouse controls.

LoS isn't really a game to be played with K+M... buy a X360 controller and you'll never have problems with games on Steam again.

K+M is good only for FPS/TPS and games where you need the mouse precision.

Every PC gamer should have at least 1 controller because of most games and all emulators.

If you have a bluetooth adapter or an USB connection, you should be able to use most modern console controllers with PC games.
I use a PS3 DualShock3 for most of my PC games that would use it.

Haven't run into many problems... but I do admit I do not play PC games as much as other people here do.

You'll always plays worse than you could be playing, in most of the games out there.

I just finished Wygol Village, and stopped before I entered the catacombs.

I'm certainly having much more fun with this game than I ever did with Curse of Darkness, I don't know why I put off playing it for so long.

[edit]
I can't believe how beautiful this game is, though. The performance on my pretty pitiful PC is astounding, I am clocking 50-60 FPS. I know a lot of people hated the combat, but I think it's alright so far. I know some people said the game was button mashy, but I don't get that impression.

Well here's the thing: Devil May Cry 4, SSF4AE, and Devil may Cry DmC all work natively with the controller I'm using. Why LoS doesn't is beyond me. It has nothing to do with Windows, the game requires some special controller apparently to be able to work and I can't for the life of me imagine why they'd do that. It's not a huge deal but it's annoying in places. But I think I'd almost rather play the game on a keyboard than a 360 controller. Those things are hot garbage. :x

xbox360ce will solve all issues with games that don't support your controller but the 360 one, and please to NOT use Joy2key with this game, the Keyboard controls, despite being extremely precision based, are very inaccurate, which makes the spinning blade trail HELL for people without controllers...

Thanks mate, I'll give that a try! :)

Honestly if LoS has a weakness it's the direction controls while climbing/shimmying. They were even a bit wonky in the PS3 version. Sometimes you could drop from a ledge by simply pressing "down" and most other times you had to press down and jump. Sometimes when shimmying left or right you stop (of I do) because the controls are a bit Iffy.

Am I the only one who finds the X360 controller a mess?
Any 2D game is impossible to play good with this joystick, and a 3D game just doesn't feel as nice as a PS3 joystick feels.
Is it me, or it's really a bad joystick?

Also it isnt very helpful that it swaps A, B, X and Y from the normal Nintendo control scheme. I've tried to adapt, but since I rarely play a 360 or with a 360 controller I doesnt had enough time yet.

They support your drives, which are probably based around something that's not xinput. If it was xinput, 360 controller would be recognazible and yours, not.

Your controller is not the standard as X360 is.

I don't like fighting games, but I guess the PS controller is better in that genre too.

I fell more comfortable with PS3 analogue control, but to be honest, the most comfortable control I've ever used is the N64 one.

I was always and am still a fan of the GCN controller myself, but I remember someone once refer to using it as "trying to game on a piece of tree bark". Never understood that.

And I'd have to agree with Maedhros, I find the 360 controller is better than the PS3 controller for everything but platformers...and racing games.

I don't understand that, either.
What would that person say if you give them a N64 joystick?
And a Wii control?
