Wich one is your absolute favourite Castlevania-stage? I think its kinda hard to decide actually. There are many stages that I like. Anyway the first stage that comes to my mind is the House of Sacred Remains in Lament of Innocence. :D
-
Olrox's quarters is nice. Also the keep in sotn, has that omnious, dark mood no 2d game after it managed to capture.
-
Harmony of Dissonance's Sky Walkway / Chapel of Dissonance
Castlevania IV's Waterfall
Castlevania III's Clocktower
Aria of Sorrow's Inner Quarters
Symphony of the Night's Anti-Chapel
Curse of Darkness' Garibaldi Temple
Lament of Innocence's House of Sacred Remains
Chronicles' Tower of Dolls
It's hard to choose just one, but those rank as some of my favorites. I also like the ruins of Castlevania in Simon's Quest.
-
the whole SOTN castle cause that was like the first
castle you could explore and backtrack. so it was like
multiple stages as one whole.

Clock Tower

In Reply To #5
Mines the very first stage ;D
-
CV1 - Dungeon
SCIV - Treasury
HoD - Wailing Way
SotN - Olrox's Quarters
SotN - Inverted Coliseum
AoS - Castle Corridor
CVII - Dracula's Castle
-
CV - Stage 1 Castle Entrance
CV III - Clock Tower
CV IV - Level B The Tower of Fiends (where you fight Slogra, Gaibon and Death)
RoB - Stage 4 (Dungeon, I guess?)
Bloodlines - Germany
64 - The Castle Walls
SotN - Marble Gallery
Chronicles - Tower of Dolls
DoS - Lost Village
CoD - Abandoned Castle
But, I guess out of all of these, I'd have to say that Castlevania III's Stage 2 Clock Tower, where you get Grant is my fav. I love having to come all the way back down, with more Medusa heads, once you reach the top.

I'll just say Inner Quarters from Aria!
-
Rob Ghost ship.
-
Auuugghhh!!! What to choose?? Well, I really like:
CV3- Warikiya Village, Clock Tower, Ghost Ship
RoB- The First Town Place Thing
SotN- Clock Tower, Chapel
AoS- Clock Tower
LoI- House of Sacred Remains
CoD- Cordova Town, Enameous Machine Tower
DoS- Condemned Tower
In case you haven't guessed, I have a thing for Towns, Clock Towers and Chapels. ;D
-
There are really two many of them, and if I'd try to mention them all I'd forget some and feel bad about it. But here are two fav's;
The regular chapel from SotN is pretty great, I mean the whole feel of the place, aswell as the music.
Atlantis has always been one of my favourites (Bloodlines being my first game). It's quite differant and I hope we get to revisit it sometime.

13th Street- Portrait of Ruin
-
I like most stages in CVIII.
In CV1 its Main Hall :D
-
hmm hard question..
LOD - The villa
ROB - Ghost ship
SOTN - Chapel
SOTN - Entrance
SOTN - Orlox's quarters
COD - Machine tower
all in random order but The villa definantly being the most.
-
CVIII- Ghost ship.
(8-bit spooky greatness)
CV IV- Dracula's Castle AND the Library.
(The Library really captures the dark, haunted atmosphere of what Castlevania was meant to be IMO)
Bloodlines- Versailles.
(The COMPLETE level delights my eyes and the BGM is gorgeous)
AoS- Inner Quarters
(The interior designs and stormy, dark atmosphere make it a beautiful location)
CoD- Garibaldi Temple
(I love how the forest path leads you to an isolated, inmense temple)
SoTN- Royal Chapel
(THE extremely beautiful forest outside, gray-sky, eerie mood and stunning design easily deserves to be one of my faves)
HoD- The 2 Chapels of Dissonance
(A chapel high in the sky, especially the part with all the stairs that leads you to the "Throne Room." Great.)
-
The Lake - Super CastleVania VI
(eerily relaxing to me...)
-
CoD-Cordova Town (a At first glance, the title "town of the undead" popped up in my head. Its look reminds me much of my hometown)
CV3-Wallachia village (Actually, as we can suppose, this is the 2D version of Cordova Town)
CoD-Abandoned Castle (It really reminds me much of Dracula's Curse...)
DracX-Burning Town (I think its better than RoBs. Its more rustic, Transylvania feel)
SotN- Olrox Quarters (Really looks like those old white and black horror films, and catches the feel of Nosferatu)
CVIV- first stage (A stable with also rustic feel...)
DracX-Courtyard (Has a lot of art and a theatre feel, but it also features a wild dark forest. Reminds me of the duality of man/wolf, in what concerns about werewolf, the boss)
And many others...

I tend to like the outdoor stages cuz I like bein outside. The first castlevania would be stage 5 cuz the dungeon is really cool looking since your'e only outside for like 2 seconds.

LoI: Ghostly Theatre
CoD: Garibaldi Temple
IV: Treasury Room (Stage 9)
RoB: Stage 1
SotN: Orlox's Quarters (First Castle), Reverse Entrance (Inverted Castle/Second Castle)
PoR: City of Haze
AoS: Inner Quarters
DoS: Subterranean Hell
