DEAR GOD GET THE FLAMETHROWERS! :o :o :o

"Last summer, some Asian giant hornets were spotted in Illinois."
OH MY FUCK, NOOOOOOOOO!
That's when it turned from "that sucks" to "I fear for my life." Way too close to home.
I'll leave you with this video I saw a few years ago:
Hornets From Hell - National Geographic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2P7Q1ncgcoY#)
-
You know... There are just some species on this world that will not be missed or deserve to be wiped out. These are one of them. Wipe them the f**k out!

Hornets aren't only there to sting people, you know; they have other, far more important roles in nature. Wiping them out could have serious disruptive effects in many key ecosystems...
...
And yet... Well, from a more human point of view, I can't say I disagree. :P
In fact, I'd add mosquitoes to the list. Preposterously pestilent pests -- those damn fools think they can measure up to Dracula?

Like being the basis for cool cartoony basketball mascots.

Exactly. Without hornets, no basketball. That isn't what we want, is it?
-
Except Hornets down here changed to Pelicans. It was like bad magic.
-
Duuuuumb. Hornets were awesome just 'cos of that logo. Them and the then-fictitious Mighty Ducks jerseys were awesome.
(I never actually followed basketball as a kid, just thought the team mascots were cool. Guess you could say I was a poser.)
-
Can we add Camel Spiders to the list of "shit we wish weren't livin' no more"?
But yes, back on track, these are terrifying little murder machines. I was always a little unnerved that my grade school mascot was the Yellow Jacket. I always imagined my high school mascot galloping in & impaling them with his lance (h.s. was "The Crusaders").
-
There are some real evil insects in nature. If you thought the mosquito is annoying and dangerous for distributing malaria (one of the worst and still wide-spread diseases in parts of Africa and Asia), than know that there are tiny sandflies around desert areas who distribute a horrible disease called Jericho Buttons or Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (http://[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutaneous_leishmaniasis). That's some nasty stuff.
-
There's also a type of hornet or wasp (can't remember which) residing in Japan that I wish never existed. It will sting you, and when it does the wound becomes infected or something and releases an odor. This odor attracts more of these little shits to you and they will continue what the first one did. In simpler language the victim is f**ked.

Not at that size they don't. And I stand by my argument with God as my witness.

NOPE.
-
The second I see a hornet that big I'll be running like a Kenyan at the Olympics.
-

And yet you'd think he created them...

I think they evolved due to our interference with industrial waste pollution. Kinda like how nuclear radiation created Godzilla.

Do you mean that Godzilla doesnt help in anything?! Look at all these monsters that he destroyed, maybe it will even save us when these hornets become even bigger (j/k, we are doomed)
-
Godzilla never started out as the savior of humanity. That was only later on as more and more monster began to rear their ugly heads at Earth. But if these hornets do get any bigger then I'll put out a call to Godzilla, no problem. no way those stingers will get through that tough radioactive hide of his.

In all fairness, they'd be rather hard for him to catch...
-
True, but don't forget that he spews out radioactive blue fire ;)

I hate hornets and wasps and bees and ANYTHING that flies and carries a weapon! Why are they armed AND super in-your-face? Couldn't they choose ONE of these traits? Other insects at least have the decency to not fly in a sort of sideways-back-and-forth motion close to your face. At. All. Times. And they want your food, your candy, your beer, your soda, your SOUL!
They're predators.
They're murderers.
We don't have anything of that size in my corner of the world, thank god. I would pee and then die if I even saw one.
Oh, and spiders. SPIDERS! Don't get me started. They are monsters and they don't belong in this world. (And no, they weren't called here by humans who wish to pay them tribute either.)

To be fair, that REALLY only applies to wasps and killer bees. (and those families)
Regular honeybees are generally pretty docile. in fact, their stinger is a last resort weapon. if they use it, they die. They are literally stabbing you and breaking off the handle. the stinger rips out of them, and they die.
A bee will generally not attack you unless you get too close to the nest and make them feel threatened. Bumble Bees, for example, are the chillest motherfuckers.
I have a linden tree outside my house, and when me and my parents used to collect the tealeaves, there were always bees buzzing about. 9usually buble bees) and they are so fucking mellow, they are like drunk on nectar.
-
Honeybees are dying out these days if I heard correctly. Those things are very important for the pollination of fruits.
I hate mosquitoes, flies, ants and cockroaches aside from wasps and the killer bees. Kill them all!!!

ants have a purpose in nature. to clean up after dead insects.
Mosquitos on the other hand... population control?
kidding. they seem to exist only to be eaten, particularly by *shiver* spiders. Who in turn, as much as I fear and loathe them, exist to eat other insects, mainly mosquitoes and shit.
fuck spiders freak me the fuck out. just typing the name gives me the creepy crawlies.
