I don't normally freehand stuff, but this is turning out fucking fantastic for once. Let's hope I don't jinx it.
Apologies for the crappy scan quality, this thing's on 18x24 paper, so I had to scan top/bottom and merge them.

Impressive.
Can't say more until I know what it is, though. So far, I don't think "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh wgah'nagl ghaft'nahl" describes it very well.
Something Cthulhu-inspired, perhaps?

It's Cthulhu, yes. He's seated in the pose described in The Call of Cthulhu in an ancient bas-relief of him.
As for the phrase, it's also from the same story, only the original version is "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn," which means "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming." I just altered it to jokingly refer to myself drawing at the Dungeon (hence why "fhtagn" is replaced with "ghaft'nahl," which is me making up a word for "drawing").

Nice! A Cthulhu image. 'It' would be one bad@$$ mother f**ker if it were a boss in Castlevania.

And not just an enemy hopping around in the Marble Gallery.
Got a little more done. Took a phone picture rather than scan it this time, so quality's a little shittier. Sorry.

There's a slight disproportion between the head features and the rest of its body. Judging from the Cthulhu illustrations I've already seen, the body should be given a little more bulk, and the wings enlarged, to give your drawing a slightly more imposing stature.
And why the excessively long neck?

Not sure. I think I was channeling Ridley Scott a little bit in the outlining stage. There are a lot of Alien-esque features I didn't think of at first.
As for everything else, CREATIVE LIBERTY MOTHAFUCKA DO YOU SPEAK IT
Actually, pretty much every Cthulhu illustration looks some degree of the same (generic chubby octopus man, with some exceptions). I was wanting something different, and I'm gonna be a lazy ass and justify the disproportionate body with a semi-related quote from The Call of Cthulhu:
...for instead of describing any definite structure or building, he dwells only on broad impressions of vast angles and stone surfaces - surfaces too great to belong to anything right or proper for this earth, and impious with horrible images and hieroglyphs. I mention his talk about angles because it suggests something Wilcox had told me of his awful dreams. He said that the geometry of the dream-place he saw was abnormal, non-Euclidean, and loathsomely redolent of spheres and dimensions apart from ours. Now an unlettered seaman felt the same thing whilst gazing at the terrible reality.
Granted, that discusses the appearance of the city of R'lyeh, but I would imagine that the Great Old Ones who built the place would share the same similar disorienting appearance.
It's pretty much just a semi-intentional creative liberty approach after watching Aliens all night. lol

Good job man. Looks VERY H.R. Giger influenced. The cross hatching on the tenticles looks great!

There really is no way of doing an incorrect picture of Cthulhu. 'It' is a chaotic creature of unknown origins from outside our universe or universal conceptions. However it looks is all how the individual perceives it to be in their mind. In the mind of the beholder if you will. It's looking good Dracula9! keep going!

It looks great! I can't wait to see the final product. :)
