If only we can translate those PS2 ones...
-
YES!!! F@#K YES!!! I can now play the game, understand it, know where to go and enjoy it even more now! Thanks KaZ for threading this!
-
I thought Aeon Quit the translation due to the complex coding during the translation process, I recall the quote "in the time it takes to translate this game, you'll learn japanese faster"
I'm so glad its finished though
-
W00t! That said, though, didn't we get the PS2 ones, like Ark of Napishtim, released in English? :o

We did. I remember seeing it at EB games a few years back and I am still kicking myself for having not bought it when I had the chance >:( Talk about a missed opportunity.

we got Ark of Napishtim, but we didn't get Ys 1-5 for the PS2
-
As far as I know, the only Ys games we got here in the US (outside of the original three on SNES and whatnot), were Ys I & II Chronicles for PSP (and I think Windows?), The Oath in Felghana on PSP and Windows, The Ark of Napishtim on PS2, and Seven on PSP. And just recently Memories of Celceta on Vita.
This news makes me happy though. Just recently got into this series and I am loving it.
-
You forgot Origin on Windows.
-
Well, the best way to go with the Ys series is PC, PSP, or Vita
I kinda hate myself for not having a Vita by now for Ys: Celcita...

We got Ys 1 & 2 released for various systems in the US, and Ys 3 for genesis and SNES.

Also, Origins was released in the US on steam.
-
Oh yeah. How did I forget Origins? I dunno. Might have something to do with the fact that my computer can't run it so I haven't even tried playing it. lol
-
I wish they released Ys 7 and Celceta on Steam...id buy em in a heart beat if they did. But me no have a Vita! Prunyuu~;_;
-
The DS also got Ys Book I and II remade for it (or was it ported from PS2)?
Ark of Napishtim was also out on PSP. That's the version I got (it has horrible load times though, in the most stupid places like when you go into a house).
I'm gonna play this Ys V ROM on my Wii-U, bwahahaha!

Ys 7 is out for the psp, if you have one.

It was the DS. I have the rom on my machine.

Oh that's bad. I'll just have to keep an eye out for the PS2 version then.
Just finished Ys V yesterday and it felt rather short. A lot of people felt this was the worst of the game's short-comings. The rest is awesome and definitely worth the wait of the translation patch.
-
Last time I checked, the Chinese company that ported Ys 7 is working on an English release of the game... but that's been a long time since the announcement and the initial release never got the attention of the pirating community to make a working crack, so the SecuROM won't block out the Translation attempts on it...
aaaaand I tried purchasing this game a year ago, blew $20 on a service that cannot even order the game, so I am screwed on getting a real Ys Seven experience on PC
Then this amazing program named PPSSPP fixed all my issues
-
I just finished The Oath in Felghana on PSP and it was one hell of an adventure. It was my first game in the series, and I really wanna get my hands on some of the other games. Now as I know, there are a few different game types, right?
-OiF, Origin, and The Ark of Napishtim are platformer/hack-n-slash types.
-Seven and Memories of Celceta are combat-focused hack-n-slashes with party systems.
-I & II are the ram into enemies at an off-angle to damage them types.
-V is a more classic Seiken Densetsu-esque action-RPG type, etc. etc.
Will I actually enjoy the other types? I know I really want my hands on AoN, Origin, Seven, and MoC, as those look really awesome (well, AoN looks pretty good anyway), but I'm kinda iffy on playing the other games. I tried playing the SNES version of Wanderers from Ys in its original side-scrolling glory, and it kinda bored me.
-
Ys III is wierd, every port of the game is very different, I'd say the PC-Engine version was best, PS2 version is sleeper easy mode
Speaking of which, be sure to check out Ys IV: Dawn of Ys, though its not canon, it's still one hell of a game

Sorry to bring back an old topic, but I was wondering if any of ya'll that played the patch for Ys V could help me out? I've encountered a horrible glitch, which I'm pretty sure is the result of the patch.
First, I followed the instructions of applying the patch in the exact way Aeon told to do (rename the .ips file and the .smc file to the exact name, and then just play with ZSNES). The game seemed to be working perfectly fine, and I was enjoying the hell outta this. I just recently beat the boss that leads to the Water Crystal, where it was yoinked by Terra and her thugs. I backtracked to Xandria, where I spent LOADS of money on the Friesa sword, and sold my Talwar.
However, when I went out to the field, I pressed the attack button, and the screen became garbled, and sent me back to the title screen. I reloaded several times, and the same result happened (I even tried reloading the emulator, to no avail). Is there a way around this? I don't have the money to buy another sword, and I really do not want to replay everything all over again...
Anyone else encounter this same problem?
-
I've not encountered any glitch in the game or patch. Maybe it's because I used a patch utility. The one I use is called Lunar ips. Give it a try Claimh Solais.
-
Lunar IPS, making sure the file is exactly 3.00 mb (I'm pretty sure that's the right size)
that will bring best results
-
I tried patching it through Lunar IPS. The file was exactly 3MB, but unfortunately it yielded the same results. The really strange thing is, I got the idea to sell the Friesa to give me the money to buy another Talwar, and upon pressing the attack button with the Talwar, the game still crashes. Looks like I have no choice but to just restart the game. This sucks, lol. Thanks for the help guys. :)
EDIT: Whoo! Just found out I made a save state before the boss that holds the Water Crystal! I can still play it! Let's avoid the Friesa this time around, lol. And I'll be save stating before making any purchases from here on, lol.
