Title: Konami pulls Skullgirls from PSN/XBLA
Post by: Ratty on December 09, 2013, 04:12:14 PM
Or at least, they're in the process of pulling it.

After a messy split with Lab Zero and Autumn Games, Konami, a co-publisher of Skullgirls outside of Japan, have asked that the game be de-listed from PSN/XBLA. Just in time for the holidays! The steam version appears to be unaffected. Lab Zero/Autumn Games are currently trying to get a new version of the game republished without any ties to Konami. I can't quite see Konami's logic here since they surely would have continued to make money through sales of the game this holiday season.

Konami and Capcom should merge and form the ultimate douche bag power in the gaming universe.

They were supposed to patch the PSN version. If I get the Konami-published one, will that be affected by the patch? Considerig jumping on this in case it doesn't get published again.

They're trying to get the patch out before the game is pulled from what I understood, but it doesn't look good. Plans after that are to get a publisher for a new version of the game. They already have one for PSN, but I read that they're having trouble with XBLA because "MS doesn't support digital only publishers", which seems like a really retarded practice.

I'm a big fighting game player. I travel the country and participate in major tournaments. I'll be in NYC next month for Defend The North.. That being said, Skullgirls is probably the best fighting game out there right and and it's a shame Konami is pulling this crap again. If you have the steam version, you can tell that the guy who makes this game (Mike Z) pours his heart and soul into this game. He updates it almost every day trying to get the new character (Big Band) working properly.

Hopefully he finds someone else to help him out because Konami doesn't like publishing good games anymore. MGS5 is questionable even at this point.
