Wii U - Hyrule Warriors Teaser Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOq4IiuRMWk#ws)
It's official. Tecmo Koei teamed up with Nintendo to release Zelda Musou, or "Hyrule Warriors" (tentative title) for Wii-U, due out worldwide in 2014. What ya'll think?
Being a huge fan of Zelda, and especially Dynasty Warriors, I'm extremely excited for this. FINALLY A REASON TO BUY THE WII-U.

huh, well look at that. I dunno. I just find the Dynasty Warrior series repetitive as hell. When they did Gundam I couldn't get into it. Even if they did Star Wars one day I still couldn't get excited for it. I remain flacid. Not even a tinkle down there. The graphics look nice tho

The repetition in DW died massively with DW7 (which was still pretty repetitive), and especially with DW8. DW: Gundam was overly redundant and it felt like a chore to finish it. If this game takes after DW8 or Warriors Orochi 3 in any way, I think it will be hella good.
I like the added lock-on/Z-Targeting and several Zelda mechanics thrown in. Looks far better than any other Warriors title.

DYNASTY WARRIORS IS THE CITIZEN KANE OF GAMING (The Jimquisition) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDbb6OOSh7o#ws)
Could be fun. I don't really enjoy the puzzles in Zelda so much as the story/visuals and combat so I might really dig this. I guess I'll find out in however many years from now when I play it.

Playable Tingle or no buy.
In all seriousness, I like the idea of these games, but I'm always afraid to buy one because I know they're going to release another update in like 6 months, and I will feel like I have to buy it then. I'm especially afraid of ending up really liking it, because I will buy them yearly until I am 80 years old.

Oh he'll get down there, just give him some time.

The Xtreme Legends updates only come with the additional content added for it. They never require you to have the original game to play them. Generally, though, these don't have the content to warrant the $40-50 purchase they usually come out at, so it's not missing much if you wait for a price drop or skip it entirely. (It's worth noting that DW8:XL looks beyond fantastic, though)
The Empires updates are actually standalone products. They are their own games, built off the mechanics of the numbered title they're based on, and more often than not provide you with a mostly different experience from the main title. These ones, while I don't feel they're worth $40-50, are definitely more worth a purchase than XL.
All in all, though, neither of the updates are ever really necessary, so you don't really have to worry if you buy one of the games.
Sorry if you knew all this already, though. lol

I honestly know nothing about this series aside from watching my brother play 4, so it's all good. Beat em ups are like crack cocaine to me, so I've always at least been intrigued.

Well, then you should definitely pick up Dynasty Warriors 8 if you want to get a feel for the series. It's not called "the definitive Dynasty Warriors experience" for nothing. Playing it makes it really hard to go back and play the others.
Every game in the series tells the same story, too, so you've got nothing to worry about in terms of that. The only difference is with each game the story begins to get more and more in-depth, with more events and characters added each and every time.

Playable moon from Majora's Mask.

Having never gotten into DW before, I think this is a great way for me to try it out.

Oh dear God, please no! :-X :P

Yeah, DW got a little played out, but I had got back into it with DW7. I heard 8 was great, but didn't get a chance to play it yet.
Yes, Gundam was a cool concept, but such a chore and really got old and boring and no fun.
I am curious also to who are going to be playable in the game. Multi-player is where it is at with Dynasty Warriors. I think if you never played it, and you end up not playing with a buddy your first time through, you won't like it so much.

Definitely go for DW8 if you can. It's a very fun game. DW: Gundam 3 looks actually fun, compared to the previous two. I wonder if the fourth will be any good.
And I agree, multiplayer in these games is much more enjoyable. One reason why DW2 seems so unappealing to me. Not only does it have the slower-paced pre-Warriors Orochi gameplay, but it's also only one player.
I'd also like to say that the Hyrule theme that was used in the trailer was kinda bleh. There have just been so many rock renditions of it that this just sounds like a fan mix. I know that it's TK's thing to have blaring rock in the Warriors games (DW's soundtracks are stellar), but I'm holding onto hope that the music will be more akin to Zelda rather than hard rock.
Another thing is, I really hope that the story to this game is the Great War that is referenced in almost every game. That's the perfect setting for a game like this.

I don't know why this is a thing but I am so there.

Seems pretty cool. Never played a game in the series, but I've been thinking of grabbing Ken's Rage 2 for Wii U.

Please Frak, for the love of God, don't. I could write a thesis on how awful shin hokuto musou is. Its so bad that even I and Sterling Jim hate it. Its a truly tepid game, and a wretched sequel.

If he can find the game for cheap, it's no biggie. The campaign is actually reasonably enjoyable, even if the game is quite repetitive (moreso than older DW games).
EDIT: Granted, he said for Wii-U, and it's only digital on there. So price drops probably won't be happening in the near future.

That Scarf makes Link look a lot like Adol, which isn't bad at all
-
Idk I think it could be cool.
Just as side note I think a Fire Emblem Dynasty Warriors game could be really cool.

I'd be all over that kinda game.
