Very awesome!! Princess Zelda does deserve to be playable in all Zelda games. ^_^

Well there's already a LTTP (Zelda 3) Princess Zelda hack out there, but haven't found a Zelda II AoZ hack yet. Zelda being the heroine of Zelda II would inspire me to play through that whole game. )

Very revolutionary!! classics can be reinvented in interesting ways, and Zelda is one of the most well deserved characters to be the lead character (instead of being an object of rescue), always felt the Zelda series should have had at least a dual main character playable option setup (kind of like Pocky and Rocky, Ice Climbers, Star Ocean 2, Shockman, Psycho Soldier, Castlevania PoR and OoE, etc. )

It is kind of a shame that Zelda hasn't really had her own games to star in, even though the title of the game is 'The Legend of Zelda'. Aside from two out of the three CD-i games, she not been given the chance to fully prove her mettle. In some of the artwork she wields a sword and is a skilled combatant. Heck she's a bit of a ninja/fighter in OoT. But someday we should get a game that fully stars her in the lead role, from beginning to end. I'll give this rom hack a try after wrapping up this post.

It's funny. I've actually been thinking about a reboot to the series where Link doesn't exist and Princess Zelda was the hero. My idea includes all the classic gameplay in modern Legend of Zelda games except you play as Zelda and there are RPG elements present as well so that she isn't locked into being a warrior. No, you would be able to develop her as you want and classic spells like Din's Fire would have different versions. For example, if you build Zelda as a mage, would have multiple spells that are variation of Din's Fire. Or, you built her as a rouge, she would wear light armor and attack quickly up close or attack from a distance with arrows. Point is you be able to build her the way you want while still having all the elements of a classic Legend of Zelda game. Think of a modern RPG with LoZ type dungeons and Zelda is the hero.
These are my thoughts for a reboot. Nothing more.

Playing Zelda wouldn't be bad at all, she (through generations, like link) has prove herself capable in most cases, the game would probably focus more on magic than swordsmanship and gadgets, but that would be a hell of a setup in the right hands
