Title: CVD, HG101 & Kurt mentioned by in gaming article.

Castlevania Dungeon, HG101 and founder Kurt Kalata featured in Nintendolife article. I thought that was cool, plus the article itself is about Castlevania loosing it's ties with Nintendo.

Nice article, kind of a harsh reminder that the old series we love is most likely gone for good but. Ah well at least we had a much better than average run.

I think that article's assertion that Castlevania wont appear on the 3DS again after Mirror being a critical failure is very unlikely. Lots of Japanese devs have been drawn to the 3DS because it offers similar capabilities to the PS2 that they are comfortable with and provides a platform for much lower budget titles to still compete graphically. With the success of many recent niche games on the system, and its massive install base, I think the series will appear on the 3DS again. Unless Lords of Shadows 2 bombs to the point where the series is dead for good, and since Mercury Steam wont be working on the franchise in the future, I think that whatever follows LOS2 will likely be on the 3DS

The series will return to 3DS this time by a japanese developer, mark my words, 3DS is too much of a goldmine. Hope it's a traditional game though, I kinda miss them.

i'm going to lol if it turns out to be nothing more than a port of Encore of the Night or Pachislot
it'll mark the first time in history that makes me question my blind loyalty to the series and whether I should quit supporting Castlevania altogether and move on

Wait people care about traditional CV? No seriously this is the only place I hear about the old, classic, or vintage on some basis. No seriously all what I hear is oh I want a new IGA game blah blah blah that's cv not this fake los crap. It hurts my freaking mind how people do not care about old school cv or the belmont's and some people want to take a crack at los it's mind baffling.  The last "new" old school cv we got was cv legends I was watching happy video game nerd and I was like oh snap he's right :o and no one freaking cares  :'( just more stale mv crap and this is from what I'm reading on the web I don't understand. I had to look else where for good mv adventures because cv was not cutting it anymore.

But Adventure ReBirth was an entirely new classic-style game from the ground up and was released in 2009. makes me sad how underrated it is

I wouldn't mind if that were a PSN game for the Vita. Though I'm well aware it's much cheaper to just buy it for my cell phone, lol.

Haven't played this, but boy oh boy do I want to. :(

I, for one, absolutelly love the sturdy, tanky Belmont. The Belmont Pimp Walk. The whole "bottomless pits" and Medusa/bat juggling. I love the amount of strategy required to advance in games like Classicvanias. I love seeing the boss health bar divided in many segments. I love gaining score with money bags. I love being desperate for a Pot Roast. Classicvanias rule.

Heh, "ground up" you mean. There is so much reused stuff there, but there is ALSO new things.
However, I'm entirely on your opinion. The game rocks so much. I wish there was a level editor for it.

The very fact you're able to apply the term "blind loyalty" to yourself even in jest is cause for alarm enough.

That was more or less a remake a retelling of Christophers adventure of his gb outting that does not count the same way chronicles does not count or dxc it's just a remake. I'm saying a whole new classic cv outting with a new belmont ect that kind of stuff. and yeah it seems Christopher does not get alot of love huh?

In all honesty, Castlevania: LOS series has had to pick up where Castlevania "died". Castlevania never really "died", its just the fact that how far can you go before you start to run out of spots in the timeline that Dracula was to be resurrected? I know we all really want the Demon Castle Wars story, but its now nothing more than a legend that will continue to live on in our hearts and fantasy. The original Castlevania series had an amazing run and a great legacy behind its games, I understand why LOS has had to start all over and I am ok with that. As long as I feel that I am in the world of Castlevania, no matter if its canon to the original or not (such ones that were not canon like Circle of the Moon, Castlevania 64, Legends, and Legacy of Darkness) I am ok with this decision. Castlevania never had a canon until IGA said there was one, it was all nothing but a decision on our parts to decide how the series would unfold. Castlevania is still absolutely my most favorite series of any video games, and the very first game I started playing at 3 years old on my NES, it has been apart of my life since almost the beginning which is absolutely awesome because not many people actually do remember what their first game was but I do. Castlevania will forever live in our hearts and it has never died, as long as you can press the power button on your NES, SNES, GB, GBA, PS, PS2, etc. it will, and always, forever be there.

And some of us don't get that feeling from LoS. Some of us don't even get that feeling from the majority of the 3D games in the series if any at all. Some don't get that feeling from the metroidvanias. It, like many things, depends on your point of view.

There really isn't anything to suggest that Castlevania will be severing ties with Nintendo in the near future. The series has a long history with Nintendo handhelds, and Mirror of Fate's poor reception is nowhere near as significant as to prevent the franchise from returning to the 3DS. Console-wise, Castlevania already has three heavy-weight installments running on Sony systems, so the PS3/X360 choice for LoS is completely trivial.

Neobelmont:
But that's just the thing; a classically-inspired Castlevania would struggle to gain any form of mainstream appeal, since what made classic CV great no longer figures on the list of qualities modern gamers look for. If you need convincing, just read through reviews for the excellent DXC -- you'll find it a consensus among reviewers that the gameplay is too dated, difficult, or frustrating for the current gaming demographic (of which the reviewers themselves are members). You see, we've been so spoiled by years of technical and conceptual overhauls that many of us can no longer appreciate what made old-school gaming so popular. It's a real shame, but it's something we need to accept: unamended classic CV has no true future.

Beowulf:
That's all very nice, but you haven't really explained anything. What you're essentially telling us is that we should welcome any game into the series, so long as it has the name "Castlevania" slapped onto it and bears something remotely close to a gothic atmosphere -- but that's not how these kinds of matters are settled. Inccubus has pointed it out already: we all have different ideas about what "the world of Castlevania" is, so telling us that 'anything goes' really doesn't help. Besides, our general conception of Castlevania isn't limited to canonity; it's assorted with a whole mess of ideas concerning gameplay, design, atmosphere, and overall presence that can't be so easily reduced to one all-inclusive 'Castlevania world'.

And to clear matters up, DCW remains an exploitable time slot in which a future Castlevania game can be slated. We can be as pessimistic as we like, but it's far from being just a legend.
