Hi guys !
Well, I now own the 0.5 version of Bloodlines. I did a lot of sacrifices to get it and now I'm ready to sell reproductions on cartridge. You can see 12 screenshots here :

If interested to have one copy, you can contact me and make an offer. I'm a serious and honest guy.
-
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing the pictures. What exactly are the differences between the beta and the released version?
-
It's too hard for me to explain you, I speak english very bad. But a friend of mine did a great post about it here : http://jul.rustedlogic.net/thread.php?id=12091&page=12 (http://jul.rustedlogic.net/thread.php?id=12091&page=12)
-
Prove it. Make a short video playing saying "hi castlevania dungeon". We've been tricked before.
-
I'LL GIVE YOU 500 DOLLERZ FOR A REPRO!
Love the community and just do a ROM dump.
-
I just sell copies on cartridges, not the rom. How can I insert a video in a post?
-
I meant a free ROM dump. ;)
-
so you were the dude that payed close to 2 grand for this? lol

No crisis, I'm not the owner of the 0.1 version. Ebay member Kaorutaro has it.
-
I have the 0.5 version, a copy of the mythical TARA200 version
-
Prove it. Make a short video playing saying "hi castlevania dungeon". We've been tricked before.
I second this make a playthrough video and showing the actual beta cart.
-
imposibul if he cant figer out how to insert a video, duh
-
either way do you think you got a good deal for the 0.5 version? or you think you payed more than what it's worth (which is usually the case)? it's ok to be honest. when you say you made a lot of sacrifices for it it sounds like you prolly payed more than what you wanted/what it's really worth, but i've been down that road too so i can understand
not to sound like a dick or anything, i'm just curious o.o;
-
I don't have the cart, just the rom. I paid a lot of money to get it. nobody helped me. It's a very early version and so the game is very incomplete. But there are a lot of differences and new sprites
-
To insert a video, just insert the Youtube link. The forum will take care of the embedding.
Just make sure the video's URL uses http:, not https: and it should auto-embed.
-

There are two versions? I thought the mystery was finally solved. :(
-
It's solved for the 0.5 version. I think there is only the stage 1 in the 0.1

There was a .1 prototype that popped up on eBay a few weeks ago and sold for nearly $2,000. But, the seller didn't provide any information about what was on it.

Interesting. Bloodlines is one of my favorite CV games.
@Jayfenwick So I was browsing that forum you linked. It seems that you have a rom of the beta and you want to make catridges out of it, thanks to your spanish friend. And then when you get enough money you'll share the rom for free, is that it?
Well please tell me when that happens, because I'm broke ;D
-
I don't think so. Sorry...
-
For the record, $500 is apparently low-balling (though I didn't expect my offer to be taken seriously).
-
it's a pity, it began to be interesting
-
If you have a rom of it, i dont see why you wouldnt share it out. Even if you made repro carts of it, the price is still the same on the repros compared to rom. I know the rarity is nice and to know that you are one of few people have the rom and have gotten to play it, isnt that kinda too much bragging on having such data as this? Especially releasing info on it being a rom. Im not trying to be mean about it, but it was best if you made repros and sold them first before releasing the info on it being in fact a rom you obtained.
-
I understand that you want to get your investment back, but being too greedy is never good. That french forum also mentions that you put the cartridges on ebay, but then you took them down. If your plan was to sell cartridges and not make a dump of the rom and share it, you should have said so from the start. Sorry dude but your lack of honesty is what causing you not to find buyers .
Why not give a price per cartridge and see if we're interested. You don't actually expect for someone to spend 500 dollars or more on a single cartridge. Except if it's a collector .
-
I was wondering what happened to this cartridge a month ago, cool to see it's still being passed around.
It sounds like you spent quite a bit, so I wish you the best of luck in recouping your money and time. Hopefully us poors will eventually get to experience the prototype at some point.
-
Jayfenwick started a fundraiser to make the ROM public. Two people already donated 150 in total. Not sure how reliable this fundraiser is, though. Please tread lightly.

Now doing things that way and being upfront with the cost (and showing some screenshots instead of just linking to another message board) makes a bit more sense.
-
I just realized that I stumbled upon the OP's post on assemblergames from last year when I was reading about this a month ago.
http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?46969-Castlevania-Bloodlines-prototype-beta-version (http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?46969-Castlevania-Bloodlines-prototype-beta-version)
Did you really pay the $2500 yourself to get the rom from simon_belmont?
It's a real shame that folks there were outbid by $30 for the 0.1 prototype.
-

Well, remember the way eBay's bidding system works, we have no idea what the max bid was. It was probably much higher than the $1900 or so it ended up as.
It is unfortunate, but we also had no idea what was on the cartridge.

Yeah, I paid $2500 to get the rom. I did a real sacrifice.

Why not release it on your own website and enjoy the notoriety of being the person who finally leaked it and solved the mystery once and for all? Why hold it hostage? Or why not just sell copies of the ROM on a per-person basis?
Honestly, after reading the post in this link, as much as I love Bloodlines, I can't understand why someone would ask for that much money to release something that, when all's said and done, is hardly worth the price. Especially considering the fact that you can't really even finish the game because of the bugs and lack of collision detection in some parts. I get that you invested a lot in that, but at the same time, doing so for the purpose of basically saying, "Na na na na na, I have this and you don't" until you get a certain amount of money, sucks. It would be one thing if you were asking for enough to cover the costs of hosting a site to download it or something like that, but asking for an exorbitant amount like $1500 is crazy talk imo.
EDIT: It seems like you've been trying to sell this for a few months considering you mention it in your introductory post over at the French CV forum, and that was posted back in September.
-
I don't think he actually had the rom back then, you can see in the assembler games post I linked to as well as the French one that he was trying to get the $2500 funded with the help of a community. That didn't happen, and he instead decided to pay it himself and recoup some money later.
In the end, he's still going to have paid $1000 for giving us the opportunity to experience what was once trapped behind TARA2000 trademarks. Seeing as paying large amounts is basically how things play out in the prototype scene, it's not really a "I have this and you don't." The tone of his initial posts of this thread appear to have largely been due to a language barrier.
Jayfenwick, it may take a while to hit your $1500 goal so I urge you to please be patient. I'll chip in some at the end of this month after I can get some funds on my paypal account.
-
It's solved for the 0.5 version. I think there is only the stage 1 in the 0.1
before the 0.1 version auction ended I asked the seller if there were any differences, but he didn't know, so I didn't bid. Man what a waste to spend $1900 if there are no more difference than one stage only..
-

CAPITALISM. Things are assigned value based on how much people are willing to pay for them. The original owner from way back when decided it was worth $2500. If the demand is there, then the $1500 will be raised.
Altruism is a great thing, but money pays the rent, so.
-
show me the limited edition GOLD Bloodlines/Vampire Killer cartridge (of which there are only 2 in existence, that we know of), and i'll pay money out the ass for that to be mine (the game even contains a few unique enemy designs that were developed by fans that won a special contest Konami held back in the day). without a doubt the "Holy Grail" of Castlevania rarities
or i can give you one of my sealed sotn handhelds for a rom dump, lol
-
I've never heard of this and I read a lot about bloodlines when I was younger. Was this an official thing or fan-made?

it's very official, like i said Konami held a contest in which fans could submit their designs for some enemy sprites (only in Japan of course), which were included in this special cartridge. so far there are only 2 copies that have been spotted in the wild, that we know of
if you think this rom this guy is peddling is worth a lot, imagine how much limited edition vampire killer is worth
-
That golden limited edition vampire killer and the rest of the items on display are not for sale.

Do we know what these fan enemies look like?

Yep, i would like to see this. Not my favorite game, but if it has a significant amount of differences.. Maybe cool!

What would have been smarter would have been to have one of the mods/admins take up a collection to try and get it. One guy coming in and saying he wants money for this doesn't seem terribly legit, but what do I know?

Blah blah capitalism. People use that as an excuse for things that are wildly overpriced despite their apparent value. IMO, the guy who originally owned it was a dick for wanting $2500 for something like that in the first place but whatever. Seems like a lot of money for something most of us would probably play twice then never look at again. I'm not saying i wouldn't like to get my hands on this, but it's not like it's an unreleased stage from Castlevania 4 or something. Most of the time stuff like that was cut for a reason.
-

Key phrase: willing to pay.
I could be wrong, but I don't see a pool of $1,500 being put together soon. And how exactly will it be released? Just for those who paid, or will it become public? I must knooooow, Jayfenwick!
If there were some guarantee I'd get my money back if the goal weren't reached by a certain point, I might think about throwing some money in to get this thing made available.

The topic at Assembler Games has been deleted. Not sure what that implies. I hope people who already donated can get their money back.
-
Yeah, the topic has been deleted by administrators ! And I don't really know why... Of course, the two persons who already donated have get their money back.
Well, I'm fed up with forums and suspicious guys. I go away and I won't come back. Don't expect any more replies me. ¡Adiós!
-
Well, now he really did just kinda pull a "na-na na-na boo-boo." ;D
-
I was gonnna donate 50. I transfered that much from my bank and was waiting for it to be approved. I don't know what I'll do with it now.
-
well, you are MathUser, you'll figure it out
what's your thoughts on the pythagorean theorem?

Well, if you like contra, there is currently a fundraiser to get a prototype rom of Contra 3 for the SNES from the same collector (Niels/Simon_Belmont) that sold the bloodlines rom to jayfenwick. I guess I have that to enjoy since this one didn't work out :(

You gotta think though: YOu're coming into communities you aren't a member of, asking for exorbitant amounts of money, for a ROM of all things, of a game you haven't really proven you own. With all the internet scams out there can you blame people for being suspicious? Not to say you're a bad person, it's just that your approach wasn't the best.
-
He posted several previously unseen pictures of the game, running from both an emulator and from a television. There's literally no other proof he can provide.
Anyway, the topic forum at Assembler Games got deleted because apparently there's a particular way to run fundraisers which we weren't aware of, and those rules weren't being followed. I'm trying to convince him to start another one, since I was one of the ones that donated.
-
Card Crusher (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCKjctTWIsw#)
Well, if things don't work out, we could always start a fundraiser to buy the rom from the original owner, and then have a reliable person like Kurt-kun make it public.

Definitely. Games were meant to be played, not horded away in some dusty vault.
-
Well, I've just missed a fascinating discussion here.
I'm actually starting to wonder -- if I opened up a thread called "Symphony of the Night ALPHA 0.001 : I OWN IT", would it spawn four pages of debate like this one did? I'll even make sure to add the description: "Please, if you want, contact me and make an offer. I swear I'm a serious and honest guy, I really do!"
I can't see how this pitch could be made any more credible...
On a brighter note, though, I just discovered that there exists a French Castlevania forum that's very much alive... To be honest, I never really looked, but that's always good news. I think I'll pop in to say hello.
-
Hey guys, I have the lost Alpha 0.0001 of Castlevania: The Bloodletting. I could be the coolest fan in existence by letting everyone play it, but nah, I want money.
Donate me $50 for details.

The difference between this post and the one people actually bothered to donate to were legitimate screenshots, both from an emulator and from a TV that showcased the same game that we see in the TARA2000 watermarked images. Sadly the former is not available anymore since they were in the deleted assemblergames thread, so I can understand if you'd still be skeptical.
I'm more disappointed because I was around for the original eBay auction years back, when i was younger and a huge castlevania fan. Always wondered what that blimp stage was like, and we got a ton more screenshots from jayfenwick in the deleted thread.
-
Well, if things don't work out, we could always start a fundraiser to buy the rom from the original owner, and then have a reliable person like Kurt-kun make it public.
If Kurt Kalata wanted to work out some kind of Castlevania Dungeon fund, with the intent of getting it released through the site (or unofficially via the board or whatever if there's legal problems involved), I'd pitch in if the money were all given over at once. That way if the $1,500 isn't reached by a decent margin of time, I'd feel safer that I'd see my money back (prior to it all getting sent over to Jayfenwick, which would be a gamble regardless).
Jayfenwick could have entered into this a little smarter and I'd have been less skeptical and annoying. Posting screencaps here, being upfront with the cost, offering the ROM for a total sum of money as opposed to accepting private offers for individuals to purchase reproduction carts, etc. Prior to external links being posted, there was no way I could be sure this was in any way legit.
I'm understanding if Jayfenwick paid $2,500 for the ROM and wanted to recoup some of that cost. Transparency from the get-go helps a lot, I think.
-
Transparency is hard when english isn't your first language it seems. Think he was just a little too excited in paying for it all himself versus finding as many forums to spread the information and fundraise BEFORE buying it, but the problem with doing this would be that he wouldn't have any screenshots to share (and therefore no proof other than "this guy has it and told me he would sell it") and we would have a thread full of skeptical doctamarios. :P Admittedly, this is the entire base of the contra 3 prototype that no screenshots exist of on the internet, so let's see how that goes.
I think assembler was entirely justified in deleting that thread though, if a fundraiser happens again it needs to be more organized.
It looks like the collector wasn't replying to emails until january as both jayfenwick and the person who brought up the contra 3 fundraiser gave updates relatively close to each other.
-
Oh goddamnit. I heard about this on another forum and saw the blimp pic with Lecarde, but now its too late. I would have definitely pitched in.
Shades of Resident Evil 1.5 here.

OK folks, this topic is over, the person asked for their account to be deleted and I have obliged. Back to regular forum business.
