I know it and i have the same wonder like you. Why Konami is bringing these games back again and not the new for GDC 2008? Except if this is a mistake from Gamespot!

They're on that list because they've been nominated for Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade Awards, the winners of which are to be announced at GDC.  They're not supposed to be announcements of the games themselves.

~Firsthand report from the City by the Bay

Hey there. - Jewelry store employee here. Can't make the conference since I'm gearing up to perform at this year's WONDERCON halftime show this Saturday, but O well. I would just like to say that it is a most unfortunate day when actual game developing staff folks come into my store to blow tens of thousands of American bucks on pretentious Parisian baubles and shmooz with a store manager who pays people to open freakin' bottles of Perrier for him. He feigns the slightest interest in their "little game ventures" and they don't even know what the hell they're writing code for, just that it will ensure that "my husband just has to take me to Aspen for the price of this ring." (actual quote) Ohh Master Chief, wherefore art thou and thine big f@*&ing gun when we need thee?

*whoo* . . . . Okay. Just had to get that out of my system. I'm off to go castrate some drunken wallstreet yuppies now. T'ahh.

Guys, don't even bet on a conference held outside Japan (except E3) if you wanna know about Castlevania...

On the contrary, the series is more popular in America than in Japan.

Actually, given the pattern of recent years I'd have to argue that the Konami Gamer's Day for this year isn't that far off.  It's quite likely if that's the case Iga might prefer to wait until that day to show off the new bit.

DXC was only released several months ago so the wait for this new CV isn't really that bad.

You don't really know what suspense is. Just ask the fans of the classic Megaman/Megaman X series.

>:( A gentleman never asks and a lady never tells.

*blinks*

.....And by that, I mean NO; I have not had anything snipped, trimmed or tucked, mm'kay? And the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence! So *uhh.*

You'll always be a man to me, Mobius. :-[

That's understandable, seeing as how this woman ownZ you. *lights a cigarette and blows a ring 'round Therny's neck* -Byotch.  ;)

I hope they make another console 3d one. I hope they give us something new and unique in it too like devil forging in COD. They need to make one take place between the 11th and 15th centuries to show why the Belmonts came to be feared and why the Pope has such a hard time tracking Trevor/Ralph down in Akumajou Densetsu/Vania 3.

Post by: Mobius on March 24, 2008, 03:28:09 PM
Time will tell what develops for the future NextGenConsole Castlevania title. Chances are it won't make a big splash with some of the major contenders that are also being anticipated (GTA 4, Ghostbusters, Aliens) and big surprise hits springing up along the way (Mass Effect, Dead Space). But then again, the live-action movie may definitely help gamers recieve the next game more favorably (think positive, neh? ^_^) whatever new feature(s) it will boast for the series.

My only hope is that the next game includes a grade A soundtrack, whatever or whomever is going down in it.

Sounds like a party to me! Let's play doctor!  ;) :P

Yeah, I really do hope they take their time and that the game that will hopefully be coordinated with the movie will be a really good one instead of one that makes people look at us like we're WoW fans.

Well I don't think they're gonna put that much effort into the upcoming DS title being that IGA made it pretty clear it's almost finished. The next-gen CV, however, should already be in development & shouldn't be revealed until late 2008. That's my guess.

I kinda fear you might be right. Recent Castlevanias seem to have short development times; I hope at least the 360 one is a rare exception to the rule. Hell, it'd almost HAVE to be, considering how expensive a Next-Gen game is (and how successful it has to be for good profit to occur).
